A Brussels Perspective

The British writer Paul Weston, whose work has appeared frequently at Gates of Vienna, sends the following analysis concerning the 9-11 SIOE demonstration, including his own modest proposal.

SIOEA Brussels Perspective

by Paul Weston

There has been a great deal of electronic ink spilled over the banning of SIOE’s proposed demonstration on September 11 in Brussels. The on-off-on again situation seems fairly complicated, but a few simple questions need to be asked.

1. Does SIOE have a legitimate claim in their belief that the traditional culture of Europe is being detrimentally undermined in favour of the non-secular culture of Islam?

Ten years ago, little was heard of Islam in Europe. Today, we can read endless proven stories of segregated swimming pools, halal meat served in public institutions, religious studies in schools operating with an anti-Christian and pro-Islamic bias, areas of European cities operating under Islamic law, a blind eye turned to polygamy and police forces failing to uphold the law of the land for fear of violence, choosing instead to clamp down on indigenous Europeans who speak out.

Whilst all of this is happening, Saudi Arabia is pumping billions of dollars into the building of Mosques within which imams call for the overthrow of the democratic West, to be replaced by a global Islamic Caliphate. Their propaganda is eagerly absorbed. 40% of Muslims in Britain wish to see their adopted country run under Sharia law.

The Princeton History professor Bernard Lewis believes that the demographic imbalance between Muslims and indigenous Europeans will bring about an Islamic Europe this century; a scenario admitted by European leaders such as Swedish integration minister Jens Orback, who has stated, “We must be open and tolerant towards Islam and Muslims because when we become a minority, they will be so towards us.”

All of the above is evidence of an existing and accelerating Islamisation of Europe.

SIOE’s claim is therefore legitimate.

2. Is SIOE a legitimate movement?

SIOE is a legal entity. Its website carries no inflammatory or racist remarks, it does not call for an end to Muslim immigration, nor the deportation of Muslims from Europe. It exists, in its own words, “to combat the overt and covert expansion of Islam (not Muslims) in Europe,” and condemns racism as “the lowest form of human stupidity.” It has no history of violence or incitement to racial hatred and has made no suggestion that this will change in the future.

SIOE is therefore a legitimate movement.

3. Does mayor Thielemans have a legitimate cause for banning the demonstration?

The reasons he has given to date are:

One: The local Muslim community in Brussels will be offended by the presence of SIOE and may react violently.

Two: That SIOE and its supporters, by their mere presence in Brussels, will contravene Belgian and European Union law regarding incitement to racial hatred, as laid down by the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia.

In argument of his first reason, mayor Thielemans can only turn down a march, based on security reasons, if the local police had so advised him. As the police gave their permission, mayor Thielemans has gone beyond the remit of his office.

As regards his second reason, both Belgian and EU law allow the Freedom of Peaceful Assembly. There is no law or precedent that allows Thielemans to pre-judge the actions of a peacefully planned demonstration, especially if its organisers have no history of violence.

If any instances of incitement to racial hatred were shown on the day, then those individuals should be arrested, and if the organisers overtly supported those arrested, then the march should be disbanded.

But that can only happen on the day. It cannot be pre-judged.

Both reasons are therefore illegitimate.

*   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *

To sum up, a legitimate body (SIOE) in pursuance of a legitimate belief, having followed the correct legal procedures, have now illegitimately been denied their citizens right to Freedom of Peaceful Assembly.

As such, under Belgian and EU law, the human rights of the SIOE and its thousands of supporters have been illegally violated.

I would therefore make the following suggestion:

A Class Action lawsuit be filed on behalf of SIOE and its supporters at the European Court of Human Rights, against mayor Thielemans and the Belgian City Council, in the amount of one hundred million Euros.

And yes, I am serious.

"it does not call for an end to Muslim immigration"

This seems like a mistake. Ultimately it is impossible to stop Islamisation without significantly reducing Muslim immigration. What's more, the author seems to be implying that calling for an end to Muslim immigration would make SIOE less legitimate. It is not illegitimate to try to stop a demographic takeover of one's country. Of course it would be controversial to change the laws so that only Muslim immigration was restricted, so it would probably be necessary to restrict immigration across the board.

I'm sorry, but I have to disappoint you on two points: a mayor is responsible for the public order within his jurisdiction, and as such has the freedom to act as he deems necessary. There's no IF about it: it's pretty basic stuff. If he thinks public order is in danger, he can and will act. Any lawyer, or somebody with knowledge of local council law can tell you this.
Secondly the Brussels Journal (as I'm sure present blog has too) has reported in detail about the new E.U. "hatred" legislation. The problem here is that Islamization is juxtapositioned here to a terrorist act, lumping the two together.
By all means, file a law suit, but I don't think this will fly.
Where's Coveliers in all this? I think next week there's the result of his complaint at the Council of State (???).

Is it worth to trust european or national instituitions?
The hatred legislation was made to "SHUT UP" those disturbed by the actal path of Europe. Just take a look at "Why Transnational Multiculturalism is a Totalitarian Ideology" from Fjordman Report (look on the left).
"The problem here is that Islamization is juxtapositioned here to a terrorist act, lumping the two together."
The real problem is that those illuminatis want, AT ANY PRICE, deny any link between Islam and terrorism. (Look at the official glossary of EU to speack about terrorism. If you arrive now from Mars and all the information who had where wrote with that glossary you would have any clue about the origins of islamic terrorism)
Sorry but I dont buy this, 9/11 was made by muslims and only by muslims, many muslim cheered at that and I didnot see a clear condamnation of that by any muslim.

This is my concern: that the connection of the two could have been a tactical mistake!
Nowadays it is, I suppose, prohibited to make a connection between Islam and terrorism, be this as ridiculous as it may be.
Now I don´t know if this connection is made in a manifest of this demonstration, but simply the memorial minute + the subject of the demonstration, this may give a pretext to claim that the prohibited message is said.

So I´m really worried that Thielemans can be successful with his ban, primarily to the public who could agree with his position. Even if this message is not said at all.

So I´m worried, and sad, that there could have been made a tactical error, and that the destroyers have been clever enough to find, or construct, a pretext halfways viable to succeed with.
Very sad!

"SIOE is therefore a legitimate movement"

If we argue on the basis of Socialist ideas we can only end up reproducing the status quo which base's itself on the said ideas.

Taken from the Mediocracy blog:

"A mediocracy cannot permit genuine dissent. Apart from the fact that its ideology must not be questioned, there is the risk that its culture will be exposed as valueless. The solution is to create an ethic according to which any deviation from the consensus is treated as opposition to egalitarianism, to progress, and to fairness. The description ‘conservative’ does not necessarily mean much beyond a failure to subscribe to the prevailing shibboleths. However, to be labelled as such becomes anathema in most contexts."

"an ethic according to which any deviation from the consensus is treated as opposition to egalitarianism, to progress, and to fairness."

Well of course we are in opposition to egalitarianism, fariness and UnProgress.

Even the writer of the above paragraph is clearly held in thrall - mesmerized with spiritual terror - by the danger incurred by crimethink.

We are not a legitimate movement and Thielemans knows perfectly well that we are not.

Cassandra stated:

"a mayor is responsible for the public order within his jurisdiction, and as such has the freedom to act as he deems necessary. There's no IF about it: it's pretty basic stuff. If he thinks public order is in danger, he can and will act."

If he thinks public order is in danger from whom?

This would mean that any demonstration could be banned if a violent opposition threatened to disturb the peace.

Clearly, in a democracy, this would be an untenable situation.

In this instance, the only violence mentioned has been from the local Muslims.

Europe still (for the time being) has to operate under the rule of law. No mayor can assume dictatorial power, which Thielemens has done in this instance.

If the police had said no, fair enough. If they had said yes, but were overuled by Thielemans based on past violence or a threat of implicit violence, fair enough.

Neither of these instances are the case.

Thielemans has made an illegitimate decision based on his personal political leaning, and in doing so has contravened the Human Rights Act of 1998.

Islam is not a "race", so the argument about "racism" is false.

A mayor is not allowed to prevent a peaceful demonstration just because his Muslim invaders threaten to respond to it with violence.

Europe, if it bows to this ban, is doomed.

To Roger

Dissidents are going to be the "kulaks" of EU.
Not by what you have done but by what you think and say you are to become a criminal.
By now, they dont send you to Sibéria but they can held you imprisoned for all the time they want to be prosecuted.
Not all kulaks will be prosecuted but they will pick, at will, those that will be.
Take a look to what is happening to Milosevic.
Nothing in that mess Clinton made in the Balkans were it seemed to be.
As now they are unable to condemn him even files, conveniently, desapears from TPI.
He is to be indefinitely "on trial".
Thats how EU justice works.
Weston talk about "A Class Action lawsuit ........ the European Court of Human Rights"
Do you know how are choosen the guys sent there by governements? If they are such the guy send by my country, they are power lickers that had an european sweet for good and faithfull services

With respect to public order, if it were a real concern then it would got no further than the police.

The police would not have recommended an illegal march be allowed place nor one in which they believed thay could not have maintained public order.

On Mayor Thieleman's own admition any violence would only have come from a minority community within Brussels described by the Mayor's spokesman as "foreign".

We all know where any violence would have stemmed from.

Mayor Thielemans is a sickening totalitarianist who brooks no dissent from his view. He's the sort of man who glibbly describes others as fascist while behaving as nothing better than a grubby little dictator himself.

The Quran(Koran) Concerning other monotheist faiths:

Not all of them are alike; a party of the people of the Scripture stand for the right, they recite the Verses of God during the hours of the night, prostrating themselves in prayer. They believe in God and the Last Day; they enjoin good and forbid wrong; and they hasten in good works; and they are among the righteous. And whatever good they do, nothing will be rejected of them; for God knows well those who are God fearing. 3:113-115

And there are, certainly, among the people of the Scripture, those who believe in God and in that which has been revealed to you, and in that which has been revealed to them, humbling themselves before God. They do not sell the Verses of God for a little price, for them is a reward with their Lord. Surely, God is Swift in account. 3:199

Verily! Those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in God and the Last Day and do righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve . 2:62

Say: "O people of the Scripture : Come to a word that is just between us and you, that we worship none but God, and that we associate no partners with Him, and that none of us shall take others as lords besides God. 3:64

And they say: "None shall enter Paradise unless he be a Jew or a Christian." Those are their (vain) desires. Say: "Produce your proof if ye are truthful."Nay,-whoever submits His whole self to God and is a doer of good,- He will get his reward with his Lord; on such shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. The Jews say: "The Christians have naught (to stand) upon; and the Christians say: "The Jews have naught (To stand) upon." Yet they study the (same) Book. Like unto their word is what those say who know not; but God will judge between them in their quarrel on the Day of Judgment. 2.111-113

If any do deeds of righteousness,- be they male or female - and have faith, they will enter Heaven, and not the least injustice will be done to them 4.124

The Quran(Koran) Concerning who we fight or don't:

As for such who do not fight you on account of faith, or drive you forth from your homelands, God does not forbid you to show them kindness and to deal with them with equity, for God loves those who act equitably. God only forbids you to turn in friendship towards such as fight against you because of faith and drive you forth from your homelands or aid in driving you forth. As for those from among you who turn towards them for alliance, it is they who are wrongdoers. 60:8-9

Permission (to fight) is given to those against whom war is being wrongfully waged, and verily, God has indeed the power to aid them. Those who have been driven from their homelands in defiance of right for no other reason than their saying, ‘Our Lord is God.’ 22:39-40

The Quran(Koran) Concerning freedom:

2:256 There is no compulsion in religion, for the right way is clearly from the wrong way. Whoever therefore rejects the forces of evil and believes in God, he has taken hold of a support most unfailing, which shall never give way, for God is All Hearing and Knowing.

16:82 But if they turn away from you, your only duty is a clear delivery of the Message .

6:107 Yet if God had so willed, they would not have ascribed Divinity to aught besides Him; hence, We have not made you their keeper, nor are you a guardian over them.

4:79-80 Say:'Whatever good betides you is from God and whatever evil betides you is from your own self and that We have sent you to mankind only as a messenger and all sufficing is God as witness. Whoso obeys the Messenger, he indeed obeys God. And for those who turn away, We have not sent you as a keeper."

11:28 He (Noah) said "O my people! think over it! If I act upon a clear direction from my Lord who has bestowed on me from Himself the Merciful talent of seeing the right way, a way which you cannot see for yourself, does it follow that we can force you to take the right path when you definitely decline to take it?°

17:53-54 And tell my servants that they should speak in a most kindly manner. Verily, Satan is always ready to stir up discord between men; for verily; Satan is mans foe .... Hence, We have not sent you with power to determine their Faith.

21:107-109 (O Prophet?) 'We have not sent you except to be a mercy to all mankind:" Declare, "Verily, what is revealed to me is this, your God is the only One God, so is it not up to you to bow down to Him?' But if they turn away then say, "I have delivered the Truth in a manner clear to one and all, and I know not whether the promised hour is near or far."

22:67 To every people have We appointed ceremonial rites which they observe; therefore, let them not wrangle over this matter with you, but bid them to turn to your Lord. You indeed are rightly guided. But if they still dispute you in this matter, `God best knows what you do."

24.54. Say: "Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger. but if ye turn away, he is only responsible for the duty placed on him and ye for that placed on you. If ye obey him, ye shall be on right guidance. The Messenger's duty is only to preach the clear (Message).

88:21 22; And so, exhort them your task is only to exhort; you cannot compel them to believe.

48:28 He it is Who has sent forth His Messenger with the Guidance and the Religion of Truth, to the end that tie make it prevail over every religion, and none can bear witness to the Truth as God does.

36:16 17 (Three Messengers to their people) Said, "Our Sustainer knows that we have indeed been sent unto you, but we are not bound to more than clearly deliver the Message entrusted to us.'

39:41 Assuredly, We have sent down the Book to you in right form for the good of man. Whoso guided himself by it does so to his own advantage, and whoso turns away from it does so at his own loss. You certainly are not their keeper.

42:6 48 And whoso takes for patrons others besides God, over them does God keep a watch. Mark, you are not a keeper over them. But if they turn aside from you (do not get disheartened), for We have not sent you to be a keeper over them; your task is but to preach ....

64:12 Obey God then and obey the Messenger, but if you turn away (no blame shall attach to our Messenger), for the duty of Our Messenger is just to deliver the message.

67:25 26 And they ask, "When shall the promise be fulfilled if you speak the Truth?" Say, "The knowledge of it is verily with God alone, and verily I am but a plain warner."

The Quran(Koran) concerning justice:

"And among His signs are the creation of the heaven and earth, and the variation in your language and your colors; verily in that are signs for those who know" (30:22).

"Satan seeks only to cast among you enmity and hate"(5:91).

O you who believe! Stand out for justice, as witnesses to God, and even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be rich or poor. An-Nisaa’ 4:134

"O you who believe! Be the maintainers of justice and bearers of witness for God's sake though it be against your own self, parents and relatives" (4:135).

"O you mankind! We have created you from a single pair of male and female and made you into nations and tribes so that you know each other. Verily the most honored in the sight of God is the one who is most righteous" (49:13).

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for God, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the hatred of others to you make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: that is next to piety and fear God, for God is well acquainted with all that you do. 5:8

And thus We made of you a justly balanced community that you might bear witness to humankind and the Apostle might bear witness over you. 2:143

O you who believe, observe your duty to God with right observance, and die not except in a state of submission (to Him). And hold fast, all of you together, to the rope of God, and do not separate, and remember God's favor unto you: how you were enemies and He put love between your hearts so that you became as brothers by His grace: and how you were upon the brink of a fire and He saved you from it. Thus God makes clear His revelations unto you so that you may be guided" (3:102-103).

"The believers are nothing else other than brothers, Thus make peace between your brethren and observe your duty to God that you may haply receive His mercy" (49: 1 0).

The Quran(Koran) Concerning propagation:

Invite (all humankind) to the path of your Lord with wisdom and goodly exhortation and argue with them in the most kindly manner, for, indeed, your Lord knows best as to who strays from His path, and best who are the right-guided. (16:125)

Had your Lord so willed, all those who live on earth would surely have attained faith, will you then compel people, against their will, to believe? 10:99

And We have not sent you, but as mercy to all the worlds. 21:107
