The Islamification of Christ

O followers of the Book! do not exceed the limits in your religion, and do not speak (lies) against Allah, but (speak) the truth; the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary is only a messenger of Allah and His Word which He communicated to Mary and a spirit from Him; believe therefore in Allah and His messengers, and say not, “Trinity”. Desist, it is better for you; Allah is only one Allah; far be It from His glory that He should have a son, whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His, and Allah is sufficient for a Protector.

                                                 — Koran 4:171

The Muslim JesusThat’s what the Koran has to say about Jesus Christ: he is not the son of God, but only a messenger of Allah, and he does not partake of any aspect of the divine, nor should the Trinity be mentioned. In other verses it asserts that Jesus was not crucified, and neither died nor was resurrected.

Yet to the aspiring Christian dhimmis of the West, the very fact that Jesus (Isa) is mentioned in the Koran, and is revered as a prophet, is enough to prove that “Islam and Christianity are compatible with each other”.

His Grace Thomas Cranmer, the Archbishop of Canterbury, brought to our attention the latest chapter in this sorry saga, in the form of a television program which will air shortly on the British ITV network.

There’s an article in yesterday’s Grauniad about the program:

TV airing for Islam’s story of Christ

There was no manger, Christ is not the Messiah, and the crucifixion never happened. A forthcoming ITV documentary will portray Jesus as Muslims see him.

With the Koran as a main source and drawing on interviews with scholars and historians, the Muslim Jesus explores how Islam honours Christ as a prophet but not as the son of God. According to the Koran the crucifixion was a divine illusion. Instead of dying on the cross, Jesus was rescued by angels and raised to heaven.

The one-hour special, commissioned and narrated by Melvyn Bragg, is thought to be the first time the subject has been dealt with on British television. Lord Bragg said: “I was fascinated by the idea … Jesus was such a prominent figure in Islam but most people don’t know that.”

He denies the programme will divide communities. Raised as an Anglican, he describes the documentary as thoughtful and well researched. “I hope it will provoke among Muslims the feeling they are included in television.”

The Muslim JesusAha! Keyword: “included”. Inclusiveness trumps everything else. The greatest good within Western society is that a Muslim feel “included”.

Oh, and also “not offended”. Don’t forget that one. It’s very important.

The Anglicans are doing the Mealymouthed Rag about this one, as you would expect:
- - - - - - - - -
Philip Lewis, the Bishop of Bradford’s aide on inter-faith matters, urged believers on both sides to take advantage of a “worthwhile contribution to understanding a complex issue”.

But not all of them. Patrick Sookhdeo begs to differ. He’s a convert from Islam; maybe that explains his oppositional stance:

However, Patrick Sookhdeo, an Anglican canon and spokesman for the Barnabas Fund, which works with persecuted Christians, accused broadcasters of double standards. Mr Sookhdeo, who was born a Muslim and converted to Christianity in 1969, said: “How would the Muslim community respond if ITV made a programme challenging Muhammad as the last prophet?”

Well, we know exactly how they would respond. And ITV knows, too, which is why they would never broadcast such a thing. Nor would the BBC, nor DR, nor the CBC, nor ABC, nor…

When’s the last time you saw a mob of enraged Christians burn down a TV station or behead an offending filmmaker? Despite the fact that movies, TV, radio, newspapers, and magazines display material every day that is offensive to Christians.

Funny about that.

The director and producer, Irshad Ashraf, said the film was an attempt to shift the focus away from extremism to the spiritual side of Islam. “Jesus is loved and respected by Muslims and he’s one of the most important prophets in our religion.” Representatives from mainstream Anglican and Catholic organisations were invited to take part in the film, to be broadcast on Sunday, but nobody was available, Mr Ashraf said.

Here’s what Cranmer has to say about that one:

Nobody available? From the spiritual and theological centres of Westminster and Canterbury, from the bishoprics to the academic faculties of the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church nobody was available? What are these people doing with their time? Are they all at home washing their hair, eating dinner in front of the television, or writing yet another article condemning gay bishops? Have they any sense of their priorities that, given a chance to witness to the gospel on national television, to be apologists for the truth of the crucifixion and resurrection, they are ‘not available’?

I have a feeling that prominent mainstream Christians are going to be “unavailable” until the crisis has passed. At which point, naturally, they will be available publicly to proclaim that la illaha ila Allah, wa Muhammadun rasul Allah.

Inclusively, of course.

I used to wonder how the gays, the feminists, and the liberal mainstream Christians were going to accommodate themselves to the coming Caliphate. Eventually, given the persistence of their alliance with Islam, they will have to reconcile their views with those of the Ummah.

I still don’t know how the first two will do it — the feminists will have to engage in first-degree cognitive dissonance to manage it, and the gays will have to go straight or surrender their lives.

But the shape of the mainstream Christian capitulation is now becoming apparent.

The Muslims respect Jesus Christ, therefore Christianity and Islam can get along just fine. We’ll concede a few points of doctrine, but, hey — what’s a little difference of doctrine between friends?

Veils — that’s just a way of respecting women, right? Didn’t nuns used to be veiled, too?

And toppling stone walls on gays? Well… let me consult with the House of Bishops; I’ll get back to you on that one.

I’m talking about the Protestants, of course. The Roman Catholics can be expected to hold out a bit longer. And the Orthodox church longer still.

But Christians better get a grip. Or are they going to leave all the dirty work to the atheists?

So, since the Antichrist is mentioned in the Revelation of John, then the Bible mentions Mohamet, and thus is compatible with the Quran.

Right?

There is no compatibility at all between Christianity and Islam. One of the primary doctrines of Christianity says that Jesus is the Son of God who died and rose from the grave while Islam flatly denies this central point. There cannot be any accommodation on this matter; if one religion is correct, the other religion is wrong.

The Holy Trinity is not mentioned as such anywhere in the Bible. It was a developed doctrine by the time Mo got around to writing the Koran. It is clear that Mo was trying to combat this fundamental doctrine of Christianity when he wrote the Koran. Even from the beginning, he was attacking Christianity. It is not too hard to recognize propaganda when it is that blatant.

Baron, if you think Protestants will "topple" before the Papists and the Orthodx you obviously aren't acquainted with any Southern Baptists.

But I suppose you're referring to the moribund mainstream denominations? If so, you're right.

But if Putin orders the Orthodox to get in bed with the Muslims, then strip they will.

It is important to know what they teach and in this respect it is a good idea. It's also important to know that what they are teaching is a pack of lies.

There a number of denominations that would give the Muslims millions of headaches and will never topple. The ones that would fall have already fallen into half-hearted half-belief.

Actually, I should have said "European Protestants". America is another kettle of fish.

The NCC will bend over for the invaders very quickly. The evangelicals, the Baptists, the Pentecostal Holiness people -- that's another matter.

In Australia, I think the Catholic church is much further down the road than other denominations, excepting perhaps the Uniting Church.

One of the biggest problems is that the wrongness of 'political correctness' has blinded too many protestant. They have forgotten how to be Protest-ants.

All non-Islamics need to become one mass of united protest-ants to repell the cloak of oppression represented by the modern implementation of Sharia and Islam.

We protest-ants were successfull in the past when we threw off the oppression of the 'Papal Kings' to end the dark ages. If we try we can thwart the oppressions of an Islamification of the civliized world.

ITV seems to have overlooked the way Islam regards JEWS OTHER THAN JESUS. I recall verses from the Hadith wherein trees and rocks are exhorted to call out if a Jew is hiding behind them.

Or perhaps the Muslim faith will now understand the value and contribution of Jews. That will obviate the murderous car bombings and Katusha rockets Islamic militants launch regularly against the Jews' homeland.

Will ITV tackle that?

I am not British, but I will quote a friend who is: "Not bloody likely."

I believe you are incorrect. Gays and Feminists can reconcile themselves very well with what they REALLY want and Islam.

Gays want a larger pool of men to have sex with. Thus, the Ummah's restriction of women to rich and powerful men and no sex outside marriage means a "prison substitution" for gays. A huge net positive. Turning the entire West into a gigantic prison is a huge plus for gays and alone explains gay support for Islamification.

Feminists want to become the mistresses of powerful men. Clinton, Ahmadinejad, a local Imam, it doesn't matter. Don't think that rhetoric has anything to do with what they REALLY want, which is the freedom to share powerful men and the power itself. Feminists certainly want non-elite/powerful men to be controlled and prevented from exercising any power. Since power is a zero sum game and more power for ordinary men means less for the mistress of the Sultan. Which is how feminsts REALLY see themselves.

It is mainstream Christians who will have the hardest time. However since most of these are likely gay themselves, and certainly don't believe in any of their religion, they will do fine as covert homosexuals with almost all men unable to have sex with wives and girlfriends. The rest don't believe in anything but anti-Western hatred so will do just fine.

In the US the Evangelical denominations (the mainline groups like the Methodists, Lutherans, and Episcopals are as bad as the Anglicans of course) will NOT give in to doctrine, won't accept Islam (as anything but their enemy) and are re-inforced by doctrinally strong Latin American and African Evangelicals, along with Korean evangelicals. All of whom loathe both feminists and gays, not too incidentally.

Neither Gays nor Feminists are stupid. Their support for Islamists is entirely logical given their goals: suppression of ordinary men's lives so the only sexual expression is prison-like gay sex, and the "Sultans" and their mistresses hold all power.

Sorry to be blunt but it must be said.

Against muslims I dont expect much help from other faithes, except perhaps judaism. In west there have been a desacralization of societies and many people gave less and less atention to religion. (Sometimes I have said I am an atheist but it is rather that I dont care if god exists or not) With Islam religion had made a come back and imposed religion to otherwise secular societies. What I see is other religions taking the train "en marche" and trying to get their shares of the booty

I saw the second half of the programme last night, and it didn't present an exclusively Muslim viewpoint. It mainly consisted of "This is what Christians say about Jesus, this is what Muslims say". There was highlighting of similarities and of the vast differences, e.g. the crucifixion, the divinity of Jesus.

I got the impression that the Muslim apologists got more screen time than the Christian ones, but I felt the Christian apologists did a better job.

OT:

Kinky Friedman They Ain't Makin' Jews Like Jesus Anymore Lyrics
(kinky friedman)

Well, a redneck nerd in a bowling shirt was a-guzzlin' Lone Star beer
Talking religion and-uh politics for all the world to hear.
"They oughta send you back to Russia, boy, or New York City One
You just want to doodle a Christian girl and you killed God's only son."

I said, "Has it occurred to you, you nerd, that that's not very nice,
We Jews believe it was Santa Claus that killed Jesus Christ."
"You know, you don't look Jewish," he said, "near as I could figger
I had you lumped for a slightly anemic, well-dressed country nigger."

No, they ain't makin' Jews like Jesus anymore,
They don't turn the other cheek the way they done before.
He started in to shoutin' and a-spittin' on the floor,
"Lord, they ain't makin' Jews like Jesus anymore!"

He says, "I ain't a racist but Aristitle Onassis is one Greek we don't need
And them niggers, Jews and Sigma Nus, all they ever do is breed.
And wops 'n micks 'n slopes 'n spics 'n spooks are on my list
And there's one little hebe from the heart of Texas - is there anyone I missed?"

Well, I hits him with everything I had right square between the eyes.
I says, "I'm gonna gitcha, you son of a bitch ya, for spoutin' that pack of lies.
If there's one thing I can't abide, it's an ethnocentric racist;
Now you take back that thing you said 'bout Aristitle Onassis!"

No, they ain't makin' Jews like Jesus anymore,
We don't turn the other cheek the way we done before.
You could hear that honky holler as he hit that hardwood floor
"Lord, they sho' ain't makin' Jews like Jesus anymore!"

All right!

No, they ain't makin' Jews like Jesus anymore,
We don't turn the other cheek the way they done before.
You hear that honky holler as he hit that hardwood floor
Lord, they ain't makin' Jews like Jesus anymore.

Everybody!

They ain't makin' Jews like Jesus anymore,
They ain't makin' carpenters who know what nails are for.
Well, the whole damn place was singin' as I strolled right out the door
"Lord, they ain't makin' Jews like Jesus anymore!"

As a gay, atheist of Jewish descent, I am quite aware of the extreme danger of Islam to my life. I am also someone who has never harbored any animus towards Christians and in fact am happy I live in a Christian majority country like the U.S.

Basically, don't paint us all the same shade of pink, please.

You're quite right. Mea culpa.

I should have been more careful in my phrasing. "Gay activists" would have been a more accurate phrase.

The same is probably true of feminists. I assume that not all feminists are willing to turn a blind eye toward the jihad.

I would like to see a Television Documentary expounding on the Bahai Faith view of Mo (not the final Prophet). How do you think that would that go over?

Whiskey_199 seems to have a profound misunderstanding of Christianity. I wonder if he actually knows any real Christians? Speaking of mainstream Christians, he says that most of them are likely gay themselves and will do fine as covert homosexuals. This is a pretty sweeping indictment, and one that is totally unjustified. It is completely untrue and without any foundation whatsoever.

He also says that the Methodists, Lutherans, and Episcopalians (that is the correct plural) are as bad as the Anglicans. Just what is that supposed to mean? Just how bad, and bad in what respect, are the Anglicans? This vague, nonspecific slander is really disgraceful. If you have a specific charge to make, then make it, but to just say that A is as bad as B, without saying bad about what, is simply calling names in a most juvenile manner. For shame!

Whiskey_199 has just about everything he has said inverted, particularly the mistaken concept that feminists want to become the mistresses of powerful men. This is a joke! Most rabid feminists want to dispense with men all together; they certainly are not interested in being mistresses!

Whiskey_199 needs to take a walk, let the alcohol fumes clear from his brain, and see if he can get his thoughts to clear up.

Is it just a coincidence that there are 6,666 verses (suras) in the al-Qur'an?

It's as if some gnostic prankster helped the Koran collecting Caliph with the final tally as a code to his fellow infidels.
