Combating the Fear of Crime in Walthamstow

Shariah-controlled zone #3

I wrote last week about the sudden appearance of posters announcing a “shariah-controlled zone” in the Walthamstow Forest area of East London. In response, a reader in Germany emailed us yesterday with a question about what was happening in Walthamstow:

I read in your blog about sharia-controlled zones in Walthamstow.

Today I read this “Walthamstow: Community safety day to provide advice” from The Guardian.

Do you think that there is a relation / connection from the sharia-movement to this safety day? Is the safety day an answer to the sharia-controlled-zones?

What is the current situation in Walthamstow, are there still sharia-controlled-zones and posters?

The piece in The Guardian is very brief. It says:

An event where residents can find advice on personal safety is being held this weekend.

Representatives from the police, the council, the Fire Brigade, Transport for London and Age UK will set up stalls in Walthamstow town square this Saturday from 10am to 3pm.

They will provide information on improving security in the home and ways to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.

There will also be activities and entertainment for families and children.

As of this writing, there is only one comment on the article:

another waste of council tax. why not set the stalls up when its dark when the thiefs muggers and scumbags crawl out of bed. walthamstow ghetto slum

I referred our German reader’s question to the local London resident who sent us the original material. Here’s what he had to say:

In reply to the questions regarding the current situation in Walthamstow, the ‘sharia controlled zones’ posters were removed very quickly. Not sure who did this but it is likely to be the cleaners employed by the bus company whose bus stop was defaced.

The ‘Community safety day’ is a Waltham Forest Council run event designed to combat the fear of crime — since that is judged to be the main problem rather than the actuality of it! But such is the mentality of those in local councils.

This is the council page detailing the event.

No, the safety day is not a response to the ‘sharia control’ posters. Your first clue is in the timing of the event: it is far too soon after the posters were placed to form a response, as English councils compete with snails in response time to genuine emergencies.

So Walthamstow doesn’t want its residents to be free of crime; it wants them to stop being afraid of crime.

In other words, it wants to lull them, hypnotize them, and anesthetize them, so that the current levels of crime and dysfunction — or even higher ones — will eventually seem acceptable and normal.

Here is a useful, detailed report from a former resident, Esmerelda Weatherwax at the New English Review.

Good point!

Let's be sure to give a rousing hullo to Mr. Frog-In-The-Pot!

Here is where those posters are coming from.

It's a organized effort to form Muslim enclaves.

Without wishing to be pedantic, Baron, the nickname Grauniad refers to the infamous national newspaper. The "Guardian" referred to in your post is a local newspaper circulating only in parts of North East London.

Edwin --

By all means, be pedantic! I prefer to be corrected when I'm wrong.

I should have paid more attention to where I was copying and pasting from. I've now amended what was surely an insult to the local paper.

In the days surrounding SIOE’s 11th September Harrow demonstration three Muslims were convicted for planned terrorist attacks who had been taught jihad in Walthamstow mosque, which itself had reportedly been “radicalised” for 20 years.

An excerpt from 1389's linked article:

“Muslims Against Crusades” (MAC), an Islamic group based in the United Kingdom, plans to wage a propaganda campaign to make a portion of London accept Sharia law. They are calling it the “Islamic Emirates Project,” and it is designed to create beachheads for sharia across the UK.
The MAC group is specifically encouraging Muslims, who comprise 15% of Waltham Forest in northeast London, to enforce Islamic legal codes banning alcohol, gambling, drugs, smoking, pornography, prostitution and music concerts in their borough. MAC released a statement this week that said:

The MAC intends to convince Muslims in Waltham to self-enforce Sharia at first, and later to set up an ‘emirate’- an Islamic statelet with Sharia law replacing British legal codes.
According to CNS News, the MAC group has released its blueprint for the ‘emirates campaign’ to the public, including the following rules for Muslims to follow:

– reject democracy
– not have non-Muslim friends
– not celebrate non-Muslim festivals including Christmas and Easter
– not join the police or armed forces
– not vote for lawmakers, or stand for election
– demand the release of “all Muslim prisoners in the hands of the disbelievers”
– reject integration with non-Islamic society
– abide by shari’a and not any “man-made law”
[emphasis added]

That last little laundry list is an almost perfect roster of reasons to deport any and all members of MAC.

One is obliged to speculate as to what is an incredible measure of self-assurance on the part of MAC. Have any of them ever considered how, should there be an abrupt sea change in public opinion, this flagrant declaration of their refusal to assimilate or integrate will be actionable grounds for deportation?

This is a consistent pattern of behavior among Muslims, in that there are so very few, if any, people of influence within Islam who are urging even a slight degree of caution or circumspection.

Instead, we in the West are treated to the spectacle of barely competent individuals swaggering about while spouting off about how they will rule the world when they have yet to demonstrate even a marginal capability when it comes to actual military proficiency, much less the armaments ― conventional or otherwise ― needed to back up such outlandish claims.

Islam continues to come across as a mob of schoolyard bullies who have been breathing their own exhaust for so long that they are now convinced of their invulnerability.

As I have noted elsewhere, Muslims around the world are in for a really nasty surprise when they finally get their first glimpse of fully operative Western mechanized warfare. It may just as easily prove to be their last.
