Daily Swedish Insanity Roundup

Nero fiddlesI don’t know if this really will become a daily feature here, but there certainly is enough material for it. Insane news stories from Sweden are coming thick and fast and are almost impossible to track.

Both of these articles are from the Local, and were sent by Fjordman.

Health authority sued over lesbian insemination

Only one woman in a lesbian couple has the right to insemination according to Uppsala health authority. Discrimination — argues the Ombudsman against Discrimination on grounds of Sexual Orientation (HomO).

After three attempts to get pregnant by insemination one woman in the lesbian couple became ineligible for further attempts as she had passed the maximum age stipulated by Uppsala health authority. Her younger partner then decided that she would try to become pregnant in her place — but was refused by Uppsala University Hospital.

“As we see it we have treated them as a couple. Should you have double the number of opportunities to get pregnant just because you are a lesbian couple?”, said Ulf Hansson, senior physician at the hospital.

The couple reported the incident to HomO which is now demanding 200,000 kronor ($33,156) in compensation from Uppsala county health authority.

Sexist holiday schedule angers prison guards

A male guard must always be in attendance when prisoners are exercising in the yard. This new rule has upset guards at Norrköping remand prison who have reported the case to the Equal Opportunities Ombudsman (Jämställdhetsombudmand — Jämo).

The regulation was part of a new action programme on how security at the remand prison would be maintained over the holiday period. When presented to staff, 12 guards, including four men, became so angry that they filed a complaint with the ombudsman alleging discrimination.

“We have not received a serious answer for why a male guard has to be in attendance in the exercise yard. Are they stronger? More intelligent and better talkers?” said one of the guards behind the complaint to local newspaper Norrköpings Tidning.

When the group of disgruntled prison guards tried to forward their complaint to authorities at the prison they were dismissed with the words, “we have no intention of having some feminist discussion here,” according to Norrköpings Tidning.

The union Seko is critical of the prisons service (Kriminalvården).

“It is not at all acceptable. All employees should be treated equally,” said Roal Nilsson of Seko to the newspaper.

Lars-Göran Svensson, acting regional director within the prisons service, does not see the problem with the regulation and denies that the intention has been to discriminate.

“If someone has interpreted this as discriminatory then they can report the issue. If it turns out to be discrimination then we will have to adapt to that,” he said.

Yes, we will have to adapt. No matter what bizarre, outlandish, and lunatic mandates emerge from the PC Multicultural machinery, we must adapt to them.

This second story reminds me of a problem I have long had with female patrolmen (police). They are at a distinct disadvantage when patroling alone or with another woman. If they have to take on an aggressive six foot 250 pound male they are going to get an ass whomping nine times out of ten. They just dont have the upper body strength and are almost always going to have to call for backup for a situation that two male cops would not. Because of this they also put their male partners at a disadvantage.

I have seen enough episodes of COPS (and talked to cop friends) to know this is true. I also think there should be weight requirements for cops. There is nothing more pathetic then watching a foot pursuit between a 300lb cop and spry 20 year old criminal. There. I have said my piece.

Both stories are quite odd.

I like that picture of the violin at the top.

Insane news stories from Sweden

A redundancy, at best.

A splendid example of homosexuality coming back to bite itself on the arse. If those idiots at the hospital had written their policy correctly, it would indicate—regardless of gender mix—a strict limit of three artificial insemination attempts per couple, without exceptions.

At the risk of being insensitive and Politically Incorrect—something I've never been accused of, ever—may I suggest that the younger lesbian just go out and get laid by some random semen donor? I know, I know, AUUUUUGHHHH< MAN COOTIES!!!

The second story doesn't even merit a derisive comment.

Yet another story from Kretinostan

Court identifies convicted man's religion
In a judgement in the District Court of Jönköping, the judge destroyed his future carriere opportunities by drawing parallells between an attempted murder of a woman and the offender's perception of women which, according to the district court, is a hallmark of Arab culture and that the man is a Muslim. The Diskrimineringsombudsman, DO, raised her eyebrows on Monday over the wording of the district court and several local Muslim associations are critical and Masoomabai Takisdotter Virani, chairman of the Assembly of Shiamuslims has taken deep offence... "we in Islam and Muslims represent many other things that are much better", she told the press. The offender was sentenced to eight years in prison and deportation from Sweden for having tried to kill his former wife.
The judge commented: -- "The offender was, if you will, marked by his culture and his religion, namely that he sees women as subordinate in various respects." -- "Courts should be careful not to draw generalisations that are linked to ethnicity or in no way put a criminal behavior in a person's religion or ethnicity, "says Caroline Diab of the DO.
