Coptic Protest Tomorrow in Front of the White House

Today didn’t start out to be Persecuted Christians Day, it just happened to end up that way. Sons of Apes and Pigs sends this press release:

American Egyptian Coptic Christians to organize a peaceful demonstration, on July 16, 2008, in front of the White House, to protest violent attacks against Coptic Christians in Egypt

Written by Coptic organizations in the United States

Coptic Organizations in America along with activists from Egypt, the Middle East, Europe and the United states, will conduct a peaceful demonstration in front of the White House on Wednesday July 16, 2008, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm.

The purpose is to convey, to world’s opinion and international human rights organizations, the systematic and continuous persecution, murders, discrimination, marginalization, and the organized (by the security police, and muslim organizations) kidnapping of Coptic girls inflicted on Coptic Christians of Egypt by the Egyptian government and Muslim “extremists,” which in many cases represent the whole “moderate” population of a village or a town, following recent killings and attacks on Christian homes, businesses and institutions.

We will expose the persecution of the Coptic Christians of Egypt, including unprovoked attacks against Coptic families, churches, monasteries, homes and businesses. During the past few weeks, news agencies worldwide reported attacks against the Copts in towns and cities of Zaitoun, Alexandria, Abu Fana, Dafash, El Menia, Luxor, and Fayoum. The situation became so bad to the extent that attempts were made to force Coptic monks to denounce their faith under torture and death threats.

If you’re in D.C. tomorrow, you might want to pass through the metal detectors and retinal scans in front of the White House and show your solidarity with the Copts.

Nice to bring this up.
Despite that, I think is a llost cause, muslims are some 98 or 99% of Egypt. It's better for them to start moving to Greece or accept Alah and somehow manage to maintain their culture/faith.

Like the Jews in the middle ages... maybe crypto-Coptics is better than nothing?

Good for those Christians - standing up for the rights of other Christians. Who has heard of such a thing? Wow, Christians standing up for other Christians....I wonder if it is a phase.

Long overdue. Christian leaders and even the rank and file spend more time speaking up for Muslims than they do Christians persecuted the world over by Muslims!

So someone beats up a member of your extended family, and you step over his body to extend your hand in friendship to the family of his assailant. You want to make sure that no one is being "Islamophobic" toward them simply because they come from a family that beats people and they don't condemn this behavior.

As churches are damaged or torn down in Muslim countries, you marvel at the "wonderful" mosques sprouting like mushrooms in Western countries. Truly, you are more of a fool than a Christian, like the British Archbuffoon of Canterbury.
