Gates of Vienna News Feed 3/3/2010

Gates of Vienna News Feed 3/3/2010Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou has announced additional measures to try to stabilize his country’s dire financial situation. He has not indicated how he intends to get around the vehement opposition of both public and private sector unions, who staged a strike last week. The EU appears ready to cut a deal, and Greece says it will go over the EU’s head to the IMF for help if it becomes necessary.

In other news, bad weather in Morocco has brought an unusually large amount of snow and rain, causing flooding and other problems. However, the Ministry of Agriculture says that the additional precipitation will be good news for the agricultural sector, and farmers can expect record crop yields.
