Gates of Vienna News Feed 11/3/2011

Gates of Vienna News Feed 11/3/2011Greek prime minister George Papandreou has called off his proposed referendum on the pending EU bailout for Greece. He says that his action has been effective, in that it got the attention of the euro-elite. Cynical observers suggest that Mr. Papandreou’s calculated feint was designed to achieve an even greater (more than 50%) write-down of Greek debt.

In other news, a Salafist sheikh in Egypt has issued a fatwa forbidding Muslims to vote for Christian or secular candidates, or for any Muslim who fails to pray daily or observe sharia law.
