The IMF and European leaders are concerned about the stalemate in the U.S. government over the debt limit, and are exhorting House leaders and President Obama to get down to business and hammer out an agreement. The IMF fears the consequences for world financial markets if a deal is not reached by the August 2 deadline, and the United States begins defaulting on its debts.
In other news, five Somali pirates are on trial in the Netherlands, and may receive prison sentences of up to ten years if they are convicted.
