A “Virginian” named Amine El Khalifi was arrested today near the Capitol in D.C. wearing a fake explosive vest and carrying a fake gun. He intended to kill a bunch of infidels, but the people he thought were his Al Qaeda co-conspirators were in fact FBI agents who set him up.
In other news, tourism in Egypt was down by a third last year — the year of the “Arab Spring” — due to the widespread perception abroad that the country is now unstable and dangerous. The Egyptian tourism minister says that this is not so, that the media just focus on the negative and violent news stories. He says that outside of the immediate environs of Tahrir Square in Cairo, the country is calm and safe.
