Tory MP Phillip Hollobone has caused a stir by introducing legislation in Parliament to ban the burqa in the UK. No fewer than nine articles in tonight’s news feed concern this horrifying example of racist Islamophobia.
In other news, the Islamic fundamentalist militia Al-Shabab is close to controlling the entire south of Somalia. Meanwhile, Finland has made broadband a legal right for all its citizens.

Prestor John needs to raise his forces and liberate Somaliland.
I'm all for banning the veil and, to be consistent, public mask wearing in general. I'm thinking of the mask wearing rioters at the recent Toronto G20 convention. What's the point of having surveillance cameras in public places, if individuals can cover their faces?
If what the G20 protesters are doing is so righteous you'd think they'd show their faces for all to see.
Muslims say the wearing of a face-veil is a religious requirement.
What no politician will dare to ask Muslims, prove it.
Show a quranic verse or an authentic hadith which specificly demands the wearing of a face covering.
Does this look an attempted honor killing to you? An actress in teh Harry Potter movies is the victim of attempted murdery by her Muslim father and brother.
"Afshan Azad, who appeared in four Potter movies as Harry's classmate Padma Patil, was allegedly attacked May 21 because her family, who are Muslim, did not approve of her relationship with a Hindu man, according to a spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service.
Abdul Azad, 54, and his son Ashraf, 28, are accused of threatening to kill the actress. In addition, her brother has also been charged with assault, said a spokesman for prosecutors. "
Her brother knows what matters:
"I don't want to comment on anything. My father is at the solicitors at the moment. We are going to get trouble from the community now. I am not happy at all. I could lose my job over this because the people at work will see this," Ashraf had said Monday.
It's pretty hard to find a mainstream news source including the Muslim connection, btw.
