The updated template for our blog came with several new quirks, and one of them is quite annoying: video embeds sometimes don’t work. (Note to Natalie: we realize this is not your doing!)
This seems to be yet another wonderful Blogger “feature”. Because of the new template, I have to use a different kind of “read more” metatag if I want the post to be truncated, i.e. to allow the reader to click a “read more” link at the bottom of the post and read the whole thing. Unfortunately, every time I use this metatag, the videos in the post won’t work on the main blog page, but only when the full post is open — i.e. after the reader clicks “read more”.
This is annoying, to say the least. But, since it’s Blogger, there’s not much I can do unless I can find the solution online.
I spent a while last night looking at Blogger help, and searched in vain in a few other places. So far I haven’t located a workaround — but I don’t have time to do a thorough search.
If anyone has experienced the same problem and discovered a way to fix it, please send an email to unspiek(at)chromatism.net.
Until then, the only workaround for I know of is to click “read more” and watch the videos in the full post.
