Thought of the Day

From our Dutch correspondent H. Numan:

They can throw as much [excrement] on Geert Wilders as they like; he will still smell of roses.

I think politics moves in waves. We have had a progressive wave, and that is over the crest now. The Tea Party is getting stronger in the USA; in the EU Liberty parties are sprouting.

The Left is out, has-been, old hat. If you are young and hip, you are conservative.

Amen brother. Sometimes my liberal friends will say "we need to drag you back to your ant-establishment punk rock roots". This first thing I tell them is that must not have known me very well because I was never anti-establishment or Punk rock. The second thing I tell them is that being a Conservative in a North Eastern State is about as Punk Rock and Anti-establishment as you can get! The answer to that is usually silence.

Kinks predicted that in Young Conservatives. Good on them!

Yes, it does run in waves. But to my mind neither side has done a very good job when presented with the opportunity, from the perspective of regular people, and both sides manipulate with impunity.

The better way, to me, matters more on the situation, should be flexible, and less ideologically based.
