Gates of Vienna News Feed 10/27/2012Muslims the world over are celebrating the Feast of Sacrifice, which involves slaughtering domestic animals. A Palestinian in Gaza City was killed by a marauding cow that panicked when the man attempted to slaughter it.

In other news, in order to save money during its severe financial crisis, Greece plans to close eight embassies and two consulates abroad.

My sympathies are with that Palestinian cow. The article states that the animals awaiting slaughter get spooked due to the "festive" atmosphere—smart animals. Also, since blood is everywhere they must sense their impending fate. I've been in a "conservative" Muslim city during this Feast of the Sacrifice and it's not pretty. Sidewalks, balconies, and even buses are literally dripping with blood. I shudder for the sacrificial animals who are at the mercy of their amatuerish butchers.
