Our American tipsters seem to have all gone on vacation at the same time, so that all of tonight’s news stories are from other places, mostly Europe and the Middle East. My favorite headline of the day, because it is so strange-sounding, is: “EuroMP Suspected of Rake-Offs From Spastics Charity”.
South Korea has aroused the antagonism of North Korea by allowing a Christian group to erect several giant lighted Christmas trees within sight of the border with the North. Pyongyang says the trees constitute “psychological warfare”.
In other news, the speaker of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Gianfranco Fini, has acknowledged that the deal for solving Italy’s debt crisis will require that some of the country’s sovereignty be ceded to “Europe”.

Caveat: Articles in the news feed are posted “as is”. Gates of Vienna cannot vouch for the authenticity or accuracy of the contents of any individual item posted here. We check each entry to make sure it is relatively interesting, not patently offensive, and at least superficially plausible. The link to the original is included with each item’s title.
