Today was the last day for Congressional Republicans and Democrats to negotiate a compromise on the federal budget and thus avoid a government shutdown. However, despite an evening meeting that included President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and Speaker of the House John Boehner, no agreement could be reached, and the government will run out of funding on Friday.
In other news, in a Libyan town that was recently retaken by forces loyal to Col. Muammar Kadafy, the regime’s troops knocked down a mosque that had been used as an arsenal and command center by the rebels. Bulldozers subsequently razed the building completely, so that there was no trace of a mosque left on the site. The rebels were outraged that such a thing could be done in an Islamic country. There’s no word on whether anyone has been attacked and beheaded in Afghanistan in revenge for all the Korans that were destroyed along with the mosque.
Meanwhile, the Libyan rebels are complaining that NATO has not done enough to help them.

Yoo-hoo, America! ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION?
This is just one of many hard learned lessons we will face while watching Muslims deal with their own kind. It's time to fill in some of those blank pages in our playbook.
Here's an item about those darned gays corrupting our schoolchildren with inappropriate sex education. Oh, wait--this one is from the straight people, those perverts!

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) – Some angry Henrico parents are demanding answers after their kids were allowed to feel a breast implant at school It was all a part of Shady Grove Elementary's Career Day last Friday, but some parents feel things went a bit too far.
We found out the kids were supposed to be learning about a career in plastic surgery, but some parents feel that is a bit too much for elementary students. They feel they should have been warned.
Thanks for keeping an eye on Interpol anti-national activities.
Today I just saw a video on The Jawa Report of an Islamic leader threatening to nuke France..I hope these things get much attention from americans from every walk of life. I believe our survivial is at stake..Check this out as you have time. Ehttp://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/207202.php

Probably won't see it. There is nothing within that example to blame the U.S. or NATO for instigating.
And in a small very strange way it makes me want to cheer for Gadaffi just a little bit.
latté island: As a mother, I'll see you, and I'll raise you.... :)
"A citizens group that unsuccessfully fought a Montgomery County, Md., plan to create “coed showers” by protecting cross-dressing possible sex offenders who gain access to women’s locker rooms by alleging they are “transgendered” has issued an alert that Maryland residents need to contact their state lawmakers now or the plan could be imposed statewide."
"The state’s HB 235 would prohibit discrimination based on “sexual orientation” or “gender identity” with regard to housing, leasing property and “in the provision of certain services or facilities.”"
"Officials with the NotMyShower.com website, who organized when Montgomery County was considering its own plan in 2007 and 2008, said there are a number of problems with the idea."

Commenter from implant story above:
"To all the people saying it's a good learning experience, the "good" doctor never once mentioned cancer or reconstructive surgery when he pulled out the breast implant. If he had, then the parents (myself included) would not be upset. He did not do that. He played a little game of "I can't tell you what this is, but you can guess. If you can't figure it out, you can go ask my daughter."
Continued:
"These were his hints: "Only women have them. It's on the upper half of the body. Come up and feel it." Please tell me where the teaching lesson is in that? That is not appropriate. Everyone is assuming the doctor gave a presentation on cancer & breast reconstructive surgery. He did not. He made it a game. Not okay."
Egghead, the common denominator in these stories isn't gay extremism, as so many people assume. It's any type of social engineering that doesn't recognise the right to privacy and freedom of association.
Just as kids shouldn't be encouraged to feel up breast implants without the proper health context, the co ed showers...what can I say...
I just wish people would stop scapegoating gays, because that doesn't begin to address the real problem, which is that the folks making the rules don't have a clue. FWIW, I think some people do need to change their gender, but I don't want them in my gym shower. @#%!1!
Hi latté island: Thanks for the comments that you provide. It's always good to discuss ideas.
However, gay extremism IS the problem when gay extremists are pushing the boundaries at every turn. It's a wearing down process....
First, society was bullied into accepting lewd public behavior at gay pride parades; and now, girls will be REQUIRED to shower with "transgendered" boys IF the girls want to shower. Otherwise, the girls are simply to be denied their ability to shower in safety.
Be sure that this issue will surface on college campuses where most students are REQUIRED to live on campus for their first year. Are young women going to be REQUIRED to live in apartments with transgendered young men? Absolutely outrageous!
Here's another current example of serious gay extremism:
"...Cook County Jail in Chicago has instituted a new policy that assigns men and women to cells based on their perceived gender."
"Responding to Cook County's new policy, the Illinois Family Institute said "sexual anarchists" are seeking "to manipulate language in an attempt to convince the public that cross-dressing and elective amputations of healthy body parts are not signs of disordered thinking."
"These rhetorical stratagems must be opposed at every turn, whether they occur in anti-discrimination and anti-bullying laws and policies, comprehensive sex ed, or fatuous, costly jail policies," IFI commented."
"Laurie Higgins, in a commentary at the Illinois Family Institute, wrote, "So who, pray tell, is footing the bill for the 'Gender Identity Panel' with whom the gender-confused detainees get to consult? And who is footing the bill for the mandatory sensitivity training administered to corrections staff, physicians and therapists?"
"Higgins continued, "Here's another pragmatic thought: Does anyone actually believe that women who wish they were men will want to be detained in the men's facility at Cook County Jail? Doubtful. What we're really talking about then is housing men who wish they were women in the women's facility at Cook County Jail. Men who wear women's cosmetics and women's clothing are, in reality, men. … Why should female detainees have to room with seriously confused men?"
Jail to house transgender men with women inmates
Egghead, gay extremists =/= people who support human rights for gay people. Ordinary gay people are fairly put off by the tranny stuff. It varies. There is no position on transexual issues among gays as a whole, although there probably is a position held by the most visible and extreme political types in the gay community. I'm going to continue this on the open thread, because this is part of that topic.
latté island: I understand your opinion, but the cart blanche issuance of "rights" to gays and lesbians sets a clear precedent for transsexuals as everyone - pro and con - is all too aware.
In fact, it is my understanding that gay groups have instructed transsexuals to stay low-key about their "rights" until gays achieve their "rights" - and then....
In any case, I agree with you that the rights to privacy and freedom of association would help mitigate issues.
However, now that gays (and friends) are a "protected" class, it will be hard to deflect claims of sexual discrimination and human rights violations when "normal" people claim their right to pick their own roommates and associate with other "normal" people.
Egghead: gay=/=pro-tranny.
Did you know, the Michigan Women's Music Festival has had an ongoing dispute with male to female transexuals? The mostly lesbian women music festival does not allow MTF's admittance to the festival, on the grounds that it is for born women only. I support this, because it's a private event, and people who put on a private event can invite or disinvite anyone they like.
BTW, to deny gays or trannies ordinary rights, I'm not referring to the shower thing, but just rights in general, on the grounds that it can be used to expand those rights into something unreasonable, is analogous to some people's wish to deny women ordinary rights, because that has been used as a gateway to the extreme demands of some women.
So, if people want to keep trannies out of the shower, it's best to have a reason that makes better sense than the argument that I've just described. If people who don't want to shower or room with trannies only talk about privacy and freedom of association, a la the Michfest gals, they're on firmer ground.
