One Drop of Liberal Blood

Zenster is a frequent commenter here at Gates of Vienna. Since Dymphna and I have sworn off covering the presidential election campaign until next fall, Zenster has stepped up to bat in our stead with this guest-post.

The Liberal Left Invokes a Discredited Racist Doctrine
by Zenster

I will ask that for one moment that everybody please disregard all of the media hype and preconceived notions or perceptions that have been bred up over the past year of Democratic Party electioneering.

Let’s please have it understood that Barack Hussein Obama is not Black. He is, by proper definition, a mulatto, being descended from both black and white parents. Rest assured that Obama plays himself up as a Black Man but that in no way changes his actual genetic and ancestral heritage. What it does signify is that Barack Hussein Obama is more than willing to ignore racial realities within his own personal realm when they conflict with his overall political vision.

What this bodes in terms of how he will deal with racial issues upon becoming President is not at all heartening. Furthermore, it is a bellwether of even more disturbing possibilities with respect to how such a man might seek to run this world’s greatest superpower.

In an obscene reinvention of Jim Crow doctrine, the thoroughly reviled “One-Drop Rule“ has found new life in American liberals and with Barack Hussein Obama in particular:

The one-drop rule is an historical colloquial term in the United States that holds that a person with any trace of sub-Saharan ancestry (however small or invisible) cannot be considered white and so unless the person has an alternative non-white ancestry that he or she can claim, such as Native American, Asian, Arab, Australian aboriginal, the person must be considered black.

By Obama’s own reasoning it would seem as though this long discredited and viciously racist notion — that even the slightest bit of Black ancestry makes a person entirely Black — suddenly has new validity and pertinence in our time. Perish the thought that — as Black Supreme Court jurist Thurgood Marshall insisted — “classifications and distinctions based upon race or color have no moral or legal validity in our society.” As Stephen Thernstrom’s article goes on to note:
- - - - - - - - -
The [Census] Bureau will not tabulate data for every possible racial mix reported by respondents. But they are keeping track of a mind-boggling 63, so that we will have figures, for example, on the number of people who consider themselves part-white, part-black, and part-American Indian. But when the figures are to be used to determine whether civil rights laws have been violated, these distinctions will disappear. Citizens who say they are not only white but also a member of a “minority race” will be counted as belonging to the “minority race” — period.

In other words, for these purposes, it is still the case that a white mother can have a black child but a black mother cannot have a white child.” [Emphasis added]

The towering moral hypocrisy whereby a man of mixed racial heritage has arrogated himself the label of “Black Man” by dint of an incredibly offensive racist doctrine and yet eludes any calumny for doing so speaks volumes about the Liberal Left’s selective memory. That Barack Hussein Obama has become “Black enough” through such discredited genetic chicanery serves up notice that — quite possibly — nothing else about him may be as it seems.

This racial sleight-of-hand is also reflected in Barack Hussein Obama’s reluctance to unequivocally condemn incredibly anti-American and generally racist sermons given by his pastor, Jeremiah Wright. Far more conspicuous is the dissonance between Wright’s oratory and his lifestyle.

Wright is about to move to a 10,340-square-foot, four-bedroom home in suburban Chicago, currently under construction in a gated community.

Even less publicized is how white the gated community of Tinley Park is:

White persons, 2000 93.2% (Versus 73.5% state average)
Black or African American persons, 2000 1.9% (Less than one eighth the state average of 15.1%)
Persons below the poverty line, 1999 2.5% (Less than one quarter of the state average of 10.7%)

— Courtesy of US Census Bureau Statistics

While Jeremiah Wright is entitled to live wherever he pleases, it is difficult to imagine a less Black community than Tinley Park being his choice. Likewise, while Trinity United Church describes itself as “Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian”, it is also difficult to imagine someone less Christian than Louis Farrakhan, whose well-known anti-Semitic and anti-White screeds — calling whites “blue-eyed devils” and the “anti-Christ”, while describing Jews as “bloodsuckers” — are nothing less than hatemongering. Yet, Reverend Wright has seen fit to bestow upon Louis Farrakhan one of his church’s Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Lifetime Achievement Trumpeteer awards.

In Jeremiah Wright we find a dangerous amalgam of zealotry and hypocrisy. While perhaps of a different magnitude, Barack Hussein Obama seems no less inclined to manipulate public perception of himself and his background with distinctly similar methods. Combined with his inability to disavow Jeremiah Wright as a mentor and spiritual advisor, all of this indicates that Barack Hussein Obama may be carrying forward a hidden agenda driven by ulterior motives about which we know nothing.

While no political candidate is expected to be entirely transparent, there is a cloud of intentional obfuscation and misdirection that obscures Barack Hussein Obama. A cloud that he continues to use as a screen, while so many aspects of his personal philosophy and political agenda cry out for disinfecting sunlight.

People *still* worried about skin colour and obscure ancestry?

Weird beyond words...

since skin colour and obscure racial ancestry is what Obama is basing his personal identity and his whole public political stance on... yeah henrik dude, weird beyond words.

May I suggest, Baron and Dymphna, that you prosecute with renewed vigor your vow to keep American Presidential Politics off of this blog for the duration.

Because, if your sole contribution to the debate is to consist of posts such as this one contributed by Zenster, then you are indeed making no contribution to the debate at all.

I have always found it laughable how Mulatto liberals are always black by default. I hate to drag celebrities into the conversation but look at Halle Berry and Alicia keys. In public they almost never talk about their white mothers who raised them and give the impression that their white blood is akin to some sort of sin. Ms. Keys has gone so far as to wear an AK-47 necklace to show her support for the Black Panthers and theyre "philosophy".

To be more specific:

The constant use of the name "Barack HUSSEIN Obama" by Zenster is, by this time, extremely trite and stupid. The only thing use of this epithet shows is the intellectual vacuity and bankruptcy of the user.

Barack Obama is 1/2 African, which is much more than "one drop." Incidentally, due to the consensual and non-consensual sexual relations between slaves and masters, many native African-Americans have more or less the same amount of African ancestry as Barack Obama. And most importantly (and completely ignored by Zenster), he looks to be of African or African-American descent. And this is the true dividing line in American racial relations - it's all about appearance, and the sociological and cultural ramifications that flow therefrom.

The only unusual aspect of Barack Obama's ancestry is the much more direct relationship to Africa than that experienced in the ancestry of most African-Americans.

Thus Zenster's mis-use of the one-drop rule is his own obscene reinvention, not that of American liberals.

Oh come on, "the poster formerly known as Gordon", do you REALLY think Barack Hussein Obama would be were he is if he didn't 'invoke' his blackness? Can you imagine Jerry Smith, a Freshman Senator from Illinois, white senator at that, as successful as BHO's campaign is? Give me a break.

Thedman, care to explain? How exactly is this article "ignorant"? How is the author "prejudiced"? You also may want to consider proofreading your comment before you post it because typos/spelling errors make you look even more idiotic.

Off Topic BUT YOU HAVE TO KNOW IT!
----------------------------------

Well, I was wondering trough the (so called) conservative (well this claims to be "liberal", whatever that means today) Portuguese blogoshpere and I found a little treasure that the comunity at Gates of Vienna will like to lay their eyes upon. I even defy Baron to do a post about it.
What I found was a MUSLIM RESPONSE to Fitna. Yes , you heard that, a Fitna about Christianity!
I think that we, in name of freedom of speach, should offer to this muslim project the more visibility as possible. Not only to show that we are not biased but also to ridicule this Saudi boy.
Also, it may help against some Christian religious fundamentalism in America, not that Europe is a goodd example but since the leader of Christianity, the Pope, did the Councl Vatican II and Christianity lost all its Indo-European Pagan roots, Christianity is not as good as it was in the past.

I will provide you a link where you can see the video in English.

I will also translate what is wtitten in Portuguese. It can be read:

"It seems that a Saudi blogger decided (at his will) to publish a video on youtube as a reply to the Fitna moovie, of our friend Geert Wilders.
In the name of freedom of expression, a flag that I proudly display, and that certainly all the colaborators of this blog also proudly display, here it goes:"

The rest is all in English. It has passed one hour after midnight here and I am writing especially to you Baron, so I would be glad if you could say something about it. I do really think you should display this video in your blog, Gates of Vienna. It may be "counter-productive", but I don't think it to be so. You are the one who must decide.

The Saudi Fitna is here

PS- Despite the fact that I do admire some bloggers in this Portuguese blog and the way they write, I think of them as little inteligent, too dogmatic and too leftist.
They do not disearve all this potencial visitors but, what can I do?

I think it may be worth of looking into. So that we can see what (some) of this Nazi thugs think.

The constant use of the name "Barack HUSSEIN Obama" by Zenster is, by this time, extremely trite and stupid

The constant attacks on people who are merely referring to B Hussein Winfrey by his full name show those critics to be emotionally brittle and steeped in political correct thought policing.

If I may:
The Poster Formerly Known as Gordon states “Barack Obama is 1/2 African” and follows that with “due to the consensual and non-consensual sexual relations between slaves and masters, many native African-Americans have more or less the same amount of African ancestry as Barack Obama”
Huh?
Slavemasters would have had to impregnate every African woman brought over for the latter statement to be true wouldn’t they? More or less I mean
And American race relations being all about appearance doesn’t explain the two preformers mentioned above or Ward Connerly or Supreme Court Justice Thomas (both black and both of whose political philosophies are directly opposed to the sociological and cultural ramifications flowing from the African American political community).
White liberals don’t appear to be black but they are no less committed to political and economic programs designed to benefit African Americans exclusively. Based on skin color only. Which is racism. More or less.
CAIR, which represents the Muslims of Islam, which is not a race, is not above screaming racism if it will help them get what they want. (Foot baths, prayer rooms, separate workout shedules, the occsional FBI lap dance or what have you).
No disrespect. Your appearance proposition works in regard to Obama. Certainly the ramifications flowing from his vainglorious pie hole are distinctly Afro-Centric, leftist and dangerous.
As the actions of CAIR and other Muslim civil rights groups have demonstrated, the issue of race, the race card, allegations of racism and so on have been used to bludgeon the west into submission.
That particular weapon has to be neutralized

The most important piece of Zenster's essay is the following: "all of this indicates that Barack Hussein Obama may be carrying forward a hidden agenda driven by ulterior motives about which we know nothing."

I think Barack Hussein Obama has been groomed for his position and this election for a very long time. I can't say I've read his books, so I'm at a disadvantage on the entirety of his background story, but this is a man who is a multi-millionaire at 46, yet he has only worked as a community activist and as a sometime lecturer at the University of Chicago School of Law prior to becoming an Illinois State Senator. His wife is an attorney, but how many attorneys are multi-millionaires by the age of 44? How was it that Barack Obama attended Harvard Law School? How did they become multi-millionaires? Who is the money behind this couple?

I also have to disagree with Gordon on the use of Barack Hussein Obama's middle name. I find it interesting that I've never heard anyone make the same complaint over the use of Hilary Rodham Clinton. Why should the use of his middle name raise anyone's ire?

The fact remains that according to Islam, Barack Hussein Obama is a Muslim because he was born to a Muslim father. If he is an apostate, then why isn't the Muslim world issuing fatwas all over the place against him? It is because of this that his middle name should be used as often as possible. To play into the "fearmongering" cry of liberals whenever Hussein is said after Barack (which is ironic based on the liberal claim that Islam is peaceful) is to sweep his birthright, and the danger that comes with it, under the rug.

Something is amiss with this Barack Hussein Obama character. Things just don't add up with this guy. I can't put my finger on it and I don't know what might be, but I have a feeling it's not good.

Zenester:

It is interesting that the term *black* can be applied to anyone in America having even the faintest dtrace of African ancestry, no matter how minute. Right or wrong this is a reality in the cultural use of term in the US.

Deeply ingrained prejudices leftover from reconstruction have died hard over a period of generations. From the 1950s and on, thinkers and social engineers in powerful positions have tried to gently force slow, creeping change in American society by undoing leftover Civil War social injustices: Brown vs. Board of Education, etc. It seems the idea was to undo interwoven layers of grievance in society gradually, allowing all sides time to recover from the legacy of the past.

There have been successes and some bumps. Fairness has been a key ingredient in the mix. Many people feel the government has been grossly unfair, however, in managing this social engineering feat.

At present, if an American President is elected with an 'ax to grind' based on his own deep bigotry and skewed social perceptions regarding race, as appears to be the case with Barack H., Jeremiah Wright, Obama, it will only incur a strong opposite reaction. I guarantee we aren't going to like it out here in the heartland.

As I drive to work each morning and hear Obama ridiculed for his latest outspoken gaffe about *white people* I can't help but wonder if all the social engineering of the past decades is being undone by this one inept politician.

When, and if, Obama is nominated, get ready for the ugly side of America's racial undercurrents to surface. I'm hearing Obama getting bashed every day from a deep well of resentment that has built up over years of government abuse of racial preference for blacks, abuse of affirmative action, abuse of welfare benefits, etc etc etc.....

At the bottom of this pile is a big ugly. We don't want that big ugly to surface.

Oh and by the way, only one of Obama's Great-grandparents was Africa, everyone else on his father's side was Arab.

What gets me about Obama is...

The Arabs and North Africans bought slaves from Africa. Various African tribes acted as proxies in this. It was these tribes that converted to Islam.

So, (haven't checked this but), Obama's dad probably comes from an ex-slaving tribe.

And yet he still counts for affirmative action.

Weird.

Hey, maybe we better get ready for a Hillary nomination. We could call her 'Pistol Packin' Mama'. Mama Hillary, a real supporter of the working man.

I'd personally like to see her down here on the Gulf Coast touring the plants, wearing a hard hat and NoMex, shaking hands with operators and engineers. Hey, I'd even volunteer to take her out to lunch at one of the colorful lunch spots on Battleground Rd, near the San Jacinto monument. Lunch in one of those places with personnel from all the surrounding chem plants and refineries would be worth it's weight in gold for Hillary. We might even win her over! That would be a real photo op.

Just read an article on how the press now has to drown Obama in ink to save the Democratic chance at the White House. This is going to be a fun election season.

I think it's obvious that everyone here can't stand obama, as he stands for the opposite of everything we stand for from start to finish. However, presidents are far less important than they're made out to be. The nation would continue the same slow downward slide it's been on since 1960, nothing would change, ultimately, about anything. The power to change the world rests with the people, and the power of people rests with their will. Willpower rests with their moral conviction in the righteousness and necessity of their cause. Moral clarity and outrage relies on truthful fact finding and descriptive emotional adjective laden values based emotional appeals by distributed intelligent devoted ringleaders. Whoever is president the only hope is, like always, somehow persuading enough People on the ground level to a revolutionary change from the ground level up. It doesn't matter if yertle the turtle has a throne 500 turtles high, since if mack sneezes it all comes tumbling down. Obama-yertle would be king of the mud, and Mack would lead the new free turtles to glory.

This guy's not just "not Good", he's a walking creepshow.
The guy was introduced to Chicago politics by former Weathermen Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn. These were sixties radicals blowing things up. The guy might just as well be wearing a che t-shirt.
Thomas Sowell pretty much nails him today(http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=293144148687578) as have a number of good and smart people to the right of you folks here at vienna.
Which is not a slam. This site, and others like it are fighting the good fight.
That said I have an unseemly question that’s been bothering me for a while.
A lot of anti-jihad folks went completely off when they thought the mad dog racist scum at the BNP were included in that “Cities against Islamization” meeting a while back. I'm not trying to bring back unpleasant memories and I’m familiar with the arguments against that group but why, when your entire civilization is being devoured right before your eyes, would you (the rhetorical you that is) so peremptorily dismiss an organization that can help remove the beast from your throat? This is like turning down help from a skinhead while 5 or 6 guys surround you with knives isn’t it? Personally, I’m taking the help.
And that’s pretty much the situation throughout Europe isn’t it? Women and girls tossed off balconies, gang raped and honor killed, savage beatings at the hands of “Asian” youths, burning cars, an over loaded and pc hobbled security apparatus, an absolutely hostile EU elite…
Or am I wrong?
And does the lack of savagery in response to the release of Fitna indicate a change of heart or strategy?
I’m not saying celebrate anti-Semitism, racism or anything else so spare me the invective.
I had to ask because I know CAIR and the rest saw the infighting and rejoiced. If we can splinter and backbite so easily, well, less work for them.
Just askin.

Contrast this with Tiger Woods insisting he's of mixed race and visiting Thailand, where his mother is from. Woods refuses to insult his mother, as Obama and others of his type do, when they don't also acknowledge their non-black roots.

Rev. Wright is so white-looking, I doubt he's even one fourth black, so he's really protesting too much. I've met lots of slightly black people who didn't make an issue over it and were basically white people, i.e. they had white friends (like me) and participated in stuff white people like.

And of course, many white-identified people have black and Native American ancestors, but it's not a big deal to them, it's just something to brag about but they don't use it to keep other white people away.

I think these mixed race "black" people like Obama are deluded, hypocritical and toxic. I can't resist reminding everyone that, when Bill Richardson, the half-Mexican but preppie governor of New Mexico, was running for the Democratic presidential nomination, he called himself "Bill Lopez," to appeal to Hispanic voters. Well, that didn't help enough, so the last I heard, when he endorsed Obama and there were rumors that he'd be Obama's VP, he was back to calling himself Bill Richardson.

Whiskey said... 22

Gordon, Obama is half-white. WHY is he automatically "Black?" Explain that to me.

As for his East African (specifically Luo Tribesman in Kenya) ancestry, the Luo were never brought across the Atlantic in the Slave Trade. They were part-time slavers themselves, trading up to Arabia, as most did in East Africa. Therefore Obama's African ancestry has nothing to with America's slave trade ended since the 1830's (courtesy of the Royal Navy).

Obama, as Bob Johnson (founder of BET) has said, would be nowhere without the self-identification of "Black" and trading on group identities.

There is enough of his justification and excusing of Black Racism to disqualify him from the Presidency. Racism is disqualifying in any form. Black as well as white.

X said... 23

I've seen a perfect example of this sort of thing. The assumption that someone "self-identifying" as black must be black, whether or not they are, is so deeply ingrained into people that they automatically start responding to someone as black if that's what they claim to be. And the example? Sasha Baron Cohen, who you might better know as Ali G. His "Is it cause I is black" line won fame and fortune a few years ago but it lead to at least one very odd situation where, in interviewing some american (can't remember who but the were a media guy as I recall) he used the line, and was met with a long response where the interviewee took the line at face value. Now if you've seen Sasha Baron Cohen you'll know he's not black. He's jewish, he looks east european. When he does his Ali G skit, he actually pales his face slightly to enhance the irony but this man, and many others in fact, have treated him as if he was genuinely black. Funniest damn thing I ever saw...

But it demonstrates the problem quite succinctly. Anyone who "self-identifies" as black will be treated as such by the media. On the other side of the coin, blacks of any percentage who don't toe the "I'm black" line will be called all sorts of names. It's almost like there's a filter over the left's eyes. Blacks who are republicans can't actually be black. I saw this demonstrated to by a friend of mine from Germany. He refused to accept that Colin Powell was black! He said he was a white man. Why? well... he can't be a black republican can he!

Madness. I prefer my dad's way.

Zenster:

"This racial sleight-of-hand is also reflected in Barack Hussein Obama’s reluctance to unequivocally condemn incredibly anti-American and generally racist sermons given by his pastor, Jeremiah Wright. Far more conspicuous is the dissonance between Wright’s oratory and his lifestyle."

With respect, I don't think you get it.

It's not racial sleight-of-hand, (althouh it may be politically-oriented obfuscation).

It's what would be expected.

Can you not see that it's likely that Obama has been chasing after an idealized black father who was absent for most of his life?

Since his father died in 1982, removing his opportunity to really be his father's son, I wouldn't be surprised if Obama did not transfer his cherished image of his absent father to another black man, one who,(he holds), embodies the father that Obama wishes he had known more.

Let's be clear on one thing, the racial issue is subsidiary here. (At least to those who are wiling to let it be subsidiary).

What Obama is, at some level, is a ten-year-old boy who is anticipating meeting his daddy for the first time.
Perhaps he will always be so.

I think he'd be a better-adjusted person today had Obama senior been more of a factor in his son's life. Obama would have been able to grow up with a more realistic picture of what the black man that happenned to be his father really was,his faults as well as his virtues, rather than the romanticized and remote fiction that he didn't live with.
The experience of learning that your father is only human, and not Superman, is a bedrock of reality in your dealings as a man with other men.
Once you learn that your own idol has feet of clay, it's not so hard to see that others also have their flaws.

It's not surprising, then, that Obama takes his white heritage somewhat for granted,(familiarity breeds contempt), and would view the disavowal of Rev. Wright as a betrayal of his own father, would it not?

FWIW, I think Obama would be an interesting fellow to know, but I don't think I want to vote him into the Oval Office to continue his quest for a man who never really existed.
He could do far too much damage.

Or am I the only one who remembers Nixon?

Most people I know seldom ever mention race, unless it is about racing. That Barack Hussein Obama, or as I generally refer to him, B-HO, has forced the racial issue into this campaign is not surprising. B-HO has used the race issue to his advantage since his college days, and it has been used to help him with placement in law school, as well as with a top law firm, as many top law firms were competing with each other to add minority lawyers to there ranks. There is even an article printed in a Chicago newspaper when he was entering his last year of law school, where he talks of the importance of his race in seeking a position upon graduation. B-HO found his alleged church only because so many black families would ask him which church he attended, not because of his spiritual quest. Personally, I believe he is a stealth muslim, based on several things, not the least of which is a New York Times article, where he recites the opening lines of the "adhan", the call to prayer, in what the reporter termed a first rate Arabic accent. That doesn't happen by accident, or from a child hood memory, but from diligent practice, and B-HO further related the "adhan" at sunset was one of the most beautiful sounds on Earth.
Race and religion aside, my single biggest problem with B-HO are his stated policy positions. Without going into them, he is just a textbook Marxist.
My second biggest problem with him is, he is an unabashed, bald faced liar.

This thread has opened a whole can of unsightly worms, so I'll just make a few more comments.

Barack Obama didn't need to "self-identify" himself as an African-American. American society did that for him merely because of his appearance - he was given no choice in the matter.

Given that fact, Barack Obama, by the dint of his intelligence and charisma, has risen to the position he currently holds, as the odds-on favorite to be the next President of the United States. Would he be where he is if he were identified by Americans as White? Probably not - there are lots of very intelligent, charismatic white politicians to choose from.

But Obama is the first very intelligent, charismatic AFRICAN-AMERICAN politician to run for President. That's what makes him so appealing and intriguing to many (including me). The only African-American Presidential candidates prior to Obama were buffoons - Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Alan Keyes. (I've forgotten about Shirley Chisolm - remember her? Very few do)

As a result, Obama's detractors have figured out that the best way to destroy him is to push him back into the Jackson-Sharpton buffoonery mire. They almost did it with the Jeremiah Wright revelations, but Obama seems to have wriggled out of that fix with most Americans (if not those who are posting here).

And please, deadbambi (and, by innuendo, Zenster), stop with the closet Muslim nonsense! If I remember my history, the Nazis used to mockingly call Roosevelt "Rosenfeld," claiming that he was a closet Jew. These Obama slurs are on the same level.

One thing that is obvious, many liberals have made an emotional attachment to B-HO. That attachment will not be swayed by rational thought, despite the numerous examples of his bad judgement, as indicated in his associates.
As to deadbambi's initial question as to who is behind B-HO with money and influence, the answer is, as always, George Soros, the pimp of the left.
As to whether B-HO is actually a very intelligent person or not, it is not indicated by the choices he has made with his many associations, such as Wright, Rezko, Auchi, and Al Abunimah. His playing both sides against the middle as a member of the Illinois legislature, by voting one way, then saying later he wished to change his vote, or by voting "present" rather than taking a stand, or by not voting at all over two hundred times in thirty eight months in the U.S. Senate, shows he is a sleazy politician, interested only in his own opportunities, and not the countries. In my opinion, he is a rather ordinary leftist, that delivers a nice speech when he is prepared and has a teleprompter, but most of his material is not original.

So the only reason you're voting for him is because he's black.

Okay.

But whatever happened to judging by the content of a man's character? In a line-up of policies he's... charismatic, wants "change", isn't particularly specific. He's a cypher, in other words. The only reason he stands out, in your own words, is because he's black.

Why should being black make him special? Why should being black give him an advantage?

The reason I pointed out the self-identification issue was precisely because of this reaction. You see black, even in just claim, and you automatically assume certain things. The mere fact that he is black overrides everything else. The fact that Ali G - whiter than I am - simply claimed to be black completely overrode everything else in the mind of the person he was interviewing.

You're voting for Obama because he's black. You're giving him different treatment entirely because of the colour of his skin. You said as much in your previous post. Lets call that what it is shall we? Racism.

Excellent perception and points.
However, with the left, much has to be overlooked, to be able to call other's, conservatives particularly, racist.
The legacy of racism in the Democrat party still exists, despite the changes in rhetoric and policy since the 60's. By creating the illusion of moral authority on the issue of race in America, the left doesn't get called to task for it's transgressions, because if it isn't in the news, it doesn't exist.
Here is an excellent example, complete with video.
B-HO and his wife are completely race obsessed. Their tactic is tired and old, and will ultimately back fire on them. Most Americans do not feel the racial hatred that B-HO and his believers claim we do.

Secondly, which of Barack's platforms do you agree with? What has he accomplished? He speaks well, he's sarcastic, he has good comebacks, he's likeable (to you)? This is someone you should be supporting to be Salesman of the Year, not the President of the United States. So if it's not the color of his skin, which frankly seems to be the reason he has so much support, why else would you be supporting him for President?

Mr. Barack "No one has suffered more than the Palestinians" Hussein Obama is your choice and you're concerned about Islamization? Dude, c'mon!

Vince: Good points. He's doing down in flames. Good phraseology. I think you're right. He can't hide what he is. And what he is quite well refined. Just allow him the venue to truly speak his mind and the real B. HO emerges. (Butt-HO? Has a certain ring to it, doesn'it? ---Sorry Baron.}

Who remembers the famous OJ murder case???

Recall OJ shown on the news by video helicopter coverage in Southern California after he sliced his wife's throat and butchered her friend: at least 100 POLICE CARS SLOWLY followed him freeway. That one scene in itself ALONE established his guilt to even a two-year-old. What is wrong with these bloodsucking parasites with law degrees and black robes???

I asked an intelligent black, educated, coworker coworker if he thought OJ was guilty. The answer: It's a no-brainer: Of course he's innocent.

Ah, I see. Of course...... Enough said.

There is a deeper game at play in all this Obama stuff. Hello?

My take on the current campaign generally.

Humans are social. They have a natural tendency to conform to group consensus. The media plays a huge role in developing a percieved consensus. The media is dominated by left-liberals. This distorts the political centre ground and pulls it in the direction of left-liberal ideas. People who disagree are subconsciously pulled in that direction by their human nature.

Like the UK, I think the centre-right has been pulled left by the MSM to the point where they are effectively useless. I think the US needs a party to the right of the Republicans on the critical issues. A party like that explodes the myth that the MSM represents the middle ground.

Such a party also stretches the boundaries of the debate and provides room for centre-right politicians to speak out more. Thus further helping to break down the false consensus.

First off, many thanks to all who have elected to participate in this discussion. An important out-of-town luncheon date and other obligatory nuisances kept me from commenting more promptly but many of my own rejoinders have already been brought to bear and for that I am grateful. That said, into the fray, shall we?

Henrik: People *still* worried about skin colour and obscure ancestry?

I'd wager that people are more concerned about intensely cynical manipulation and wholesale distortion of both truth and perception than skin color and ancestry.

Ex-Gordon: if your sole contribution to the debate is to consist of posts such as this one contributed by Zenster, then you are indeed making no contribution to the debate at all.

Permit me to suggest that you look past the superficial aspects of this particular post and delve further into what I attempted to identify as a more serious issue. Namely:

The towering moral hypocrisy whereby a man of mixed racial heritage has arrogated himself the label of “Black Man” by dint of an incredibly offensive racist doctrine and yet eludes any calumny for doing so speaks volumes about the Liberal Left’s selective memory.

Try to comprehend how supremely difficult it was to extricate the parallel issues of this candidate using Jim Crow to be “Black enough” versus the far more egregious situation whereby socialistic agencies of American government still use this same discredited filth to push their own racial—and racist—agenda. If you have not, I urge you to read Stephan Thernstrom’s article in its entirety.

It would now be possible, they [the Census Bureau] announced, for racially-mixed Americans to identify with more than one racial group when they filled out their forms.

In the in-fighting that led up to the decision, the battle to preserve the old, mutually exclusive conception of race was led, not by white dinosaurs, but by the major civil rights organizations. If a significant proportion of African Americans reported themselves as partly white, they worried, it could mean fewer affirmative action slots at colleges and universities, fewer jobs for black applicants, a smaller share of public contracts set aside for black-owned businesses, fewer safe black seats on city councils, in state legislatures, and in Congress. All of these programs take proportional representation as the goal, so a decline in the total numbers of a minority group means a reduced entitlement.

[Emphasis Added]

All squawking about—and accusations of—bigotry aside, this is the real issue at hand. Liberal and socialistic elements are morally unencumbered about evoking even the most degrading and racialist tools imaginable so long as they continue to serve their immediate purposes. There is no difference between this current horseradish and continued liberal silence about the travesties of shari’a law. If you are unable to fathom such abject and cynical political gamesmanship, please let me know.

ExGordon: The constant use of the name "Barack HUSSEIN Obama" by Zenster is, by this time, extremely trite and stupid.

I shall continue to refer to this candidate as “Barrack Hussein Obama” whenever I feel like it until he desists in criticizing other contenders for using his name in full. If he is ashamed of his Islamic background, then he had damn well better say so. If he is not, then he had damn well better defend what he finds so worthy about his Muslim heritage. If he is unwilling to do either, then he needs to be outed for the waffler that he most certainly is.

More telling is that you, yourself have no qualms about Obama criticizing others for using his middle name. Obama’s attempts to stifle justifiable public concern about his background are nothing short of thought control and reprehensible in the extreme.

Thus Zenster's mis-use of the one-drop rule is his own obscene reinvention, not that of American liberals.

You give me far too much credit. Obama’s skin color means exactly diddly-squat to me save for the fact that he himself makes such a big deal about it. Rest assured that nowhere do we see Obama trying to be “White enough”, despite whites being the majority population. It’s safe to say Obama thinks he has that vote sewn up by skillfully foisting White Man’s Burden upon his slavish liberal audiences.

Natalie: do you REALLY think Barack Hussein Obama would be were he is if he didn't 'invoke' his blackness?

That would be Zing! Number one.

Thedman: This article is dumb and is obviously written by a prejudice person who can't see beyond his ignorence.

Well, that certainly explains why I marched in all those civil rights demonstrations and have fought for racial equality my entire life.

VinceP1974: The constant attacks on people who are merely referring to B Hussein Winfrey by his full name show those critics to be emotionally brittle and steeped in political correct thought policing.

That would be Zing! Number two.

dt: White liberals don’t appear to be black but they are no less committed to political and economic programs designed to benefit African Americans exclusively. Based on skin color only. Which is racism.

As with the Census Bureau bull’s pizzle above, spot on.

Le bingo!

deadbambi: Interesting that I've never heard anyone make the same complaint over the use of Hilary Rodham Clinton. Why should the use of his middle name raise anyone's ire?

It only raises Obama’s ire—and that of his minions—which is exceptionally odd in that the issue is fact based and not some contrivance.

The fact remains that according to Islam, Barack Hussein Obama is a Muslim because he was born to a Muslim father. If he is an apostate, then why isn't the Muslim world issuing fatwas all over the place against him?

This is an exceptionally important question. Much like how the liberals willingly resurrect Jim Crow so long as it serves their ends, so does Islam remain silent about a prominent case of Muslim apostasy if it will help propel a more conciliatory individual into power over America. As always, the hilarious notion of homosexual-defending liberals going to shari’a law’s chopping block first puts paid to the immense hypocrisy shared by the Left and Islam alike.

It is because of this that his middle name should be used as often as possible. To play into the "fearmongering" cry of liberals whenever Hussein is said after Barack (which is ironic based on the liberal claim that Islam is peaceful) is to sweep his birthright, and the danger that comes with it, under the rug.

Precisely.

Paul: At present, if an American President is elected with an 'ax to grind' based on his own deep bigotry and skewed social perceptions regarding race, as appears to be the case with Barack H., Jeremiah Wright, Obama, it will only incur a strong opposite reaction. I guarantee we aren't going to like it out here in the heartland.

Agreed and all the more so after Obama’s recent: “it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations” speech in Pennsylvania. That crap ain’t gonna fly in Middle America. I’d expect that slap at the heartland cost Obama a permanent 10 points across the board.

I can't help but wonder if all the social engineering of the past decades is being undone by this one inept politician.

Given the chance, Obama could very well do exactly that. His refusal to condemn Jeremiah Wright’s racist spewing almost guarantees it.

latte island: I think these mixed race "black" people like Obama are deluded, hypocritical and toxic.

I agree, which is a major point of my entire post. This whole “One Drop” issue highlights liberalism’s intellectual and moral bankruptcy. The Baron’s delightful editing of my article’s title is a searing indictment of the Left’s all-or-nothing mentality.

whiskey_199: Gordon, Obama is half-white. WHY is he automatically "Black?" Explain that to me.

That would be Zing! Number three.

There is enough of his justification and excusing of Black Racism to disqualify him from the Presidency. Racism is disqualifying in any form. Black as well as white.

Which is pretty much my post’s entire point.

Bilgeman: Can you not see that it's likely that Obama has been chasing after an idealized black father who was absent for most of his life?

As always, matey, you come up with some really insightful howlers. (Welcome back, by the way.) Even if your entire supposition is true—and it may well be—I’m less than happy with some Windy City greenhorn shyster turning the Oval Office into a headshrinker’s couch. Let him obtain catharsis on his own dime and not at the nation’s expense.

It's not surprising, then, that Obama takes his white heritage somewhat for granted,(familiarity breeds contempt), and would view the disavowal of Rev. Wright as a betrayal of his own father, would it not?

Here, you are spot on the money and your analogy takes on some real substance. Moreover, if Jeremiah Wright truly wields such influence over Obama, then no way in everlasting Hell should he come anywhere near the Presidency.

babs: My husband and I were wondering if the term mullato is now vulgar. Does anyone know?

For a superb investigation of current views regarding the use of “mulatto” please read this excellent article by Blair Shewchuk of CBC News Online. Incidentally, the answer is, no.

no2liberals: Barack Hussein Obama, or as I generally refer to him, B-HO

Now that’s a keeper!

I would very much enjoy some links for the above assertions. If true, they represent some serious ammunition against B-HO. Stealth Muslim or not, I most certainly feel that anyone with possible sympathies for America’s sworn enemy carries with them unacceptable amounts of psychological baggage to lead our nation in a time of war, which this is.

Also, anyone who has not read no2liberals’s excellent link about Obama’s numerous misrepresentations really needs to scan this very telling compilation. Clearly, Barrack Hussein Obama is hiding a lot and does not scruple at twisting the truth beyond all recognition.

Since this site deals with anti-jihad, I’m going to excerpt the pertinent Obama mistruths from the above link:

5.) My Grandmother Has Always Been A Christian - LIAR, she does her daily Salat prayers at 5am according to her own interviews. Not to mention, Christianity wouldn’t allow her to have been one of 14 wives to 1 man.

7.) I Never Practiced Islam - LIAR, you practiced it daily at school, where you were registered as a Muslim and kept that faith for 31 years, until your wife made you change, so you could run for office.

8.) My School In Indonesia Was Christian - LIAR, you were registered as Muslim there and got in trouble in Koranic Studies for making faces (check your own book).

9.) I Was Fluent In Indonesian - LIAR, not one teacher says you could speak the language.

10.) Because I Lived In Indonesia, I Have More Foreign Experience - LIAR, you were there from the ages of 6 to 10, and couldn’t even speak the language. What did you learn, how to study the Koran and watch cartoons.

29.) I Am Tough On Terrorism - LIAR, you missed the Iran Resolution vote on terrorism and your good friend Ali Abunimah supports the destruction of Israel.

30.) I Am Not Acting As President Yet - LIAR, after the NAFTA Memo, a dead terrorist in the FARC, in Colombia, was found with a letter stating how you and he were working together on getting FARC recognized officially.

45.) I Have Always Been Against Iraq - LIAR, you weren’t in office to vote against it AND you have voted to fund it every single time, unlike Kucinich, who seems to be out gutting you Obama. You also seem to be stepping back from your departure date - AGAIN.

62.) I am very Anti-Terror - LIAR. [03/30/2008] One of your good pals is long time radical and terrorist William Ayers, with whom you have been seen in the last 12 months and who has helped the now jailed khalidi, Professor at Columbia who invited Ahmadinejad to the University, to raise money for Palestinian terrorism attacks against Israel. PS - Your church published a pro Hamas Manifesto - guess you weren’t there on THAT Sunday either? How lucky for you.

More pertinent to this actual post is the following:

65) I did NOT play the race card: - LIAR - [03/31/2008] Obama was the first to play the race card. According to Phialdelphia Inquirer, Quietly, the storm over the hateful views expressed by Sen. Barack Obama’s pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, has blown away the most insidious myth of the Democratic primary campaign. Obama and his surrogates have charged that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has deliberately and cleverly played the race card in order to label Obama the “black” candidate. Read more here

1. Reports emanating from Africa allege his mother was in Kenya with his ARAB Kenyan (NOT Black Kenyan) father - this is clearly shown in Kenyan Govt. Registry documents which list the father as an Arab Kenyan - at a very late term of her pregnancy and was not allowed on a flight to return to HAWAII.

She gave birth to him in Kenya, immediately got on a plane and then registered him as being born in Hawaii.

2. He is NOT an African American at all but an Arab American and cannot claim African minority status, which by US Federal regulations require a person to have 1/8 (one eighth) of the minority blood (12%).

From his mother he has 50% white blood, from his father he has 43.25% Arab BLOOD and from his MATERNAL GRANDMOTHER he manages to hold onto 6.75% African or Black heritage blood.

He has had to duck and weave all his life and use whatever lies he could use to even “pass for Black” and the benefits that this minority status provided. So even this, while understandable - IS A documented LIE.

So, even if B-HO is not a mulatto, he has clearly taken great pains to portray himself as one. More than anything, he has played the race card with the finesse of Slim Amarillo and cannot be exonerated for doing so.

ExGordon: This thread has opened a whole can of unsightly worms

Only for squeamish individuals like yourself. Any good fisherman knows what to do with such an abundance of night crawlers.

Archonix: So the only reason you're voting for him is because he's black.

That would be Zing! Number four.

You're giving him different treatment entirely because of the colour of his skin. You said as much in your previous post. Lets call that what it is shall we? Racism.

That would be Mega-Zing! Number five.

deadbambi: Gordon, I didn't say Barack Hussein Obama was a closet Muslim. I said he absolutely, positively, IS a Muslim according to Islamic law. So he's either practicing Islam or he's an apostate.

Something made quite clear from the link provided by no2liberals.

Mr. Barack "No one has suffered more than the Palestinians" Hussein Obama is your choice and you're concerned about Islamization? Dude, c'mon!

That would be Zing! number six. Had enough, ExGordon? Your points have not only been comprehensively refuted but rather neatly turned against you as well.

I would like to thank everyone who commented in this thread. It has shed a lot of light in some intentionally obscured corners. There is a lot of ammunition here that needs to be used against Obama’s camp followers.

This article is stupid. To repeat the words of 'the poster formerly known as gordon';

Barack Obama didn't need to "self-identify" himself as an African-American. American society did that for him merely because of his appearance - he was given no choice in the matter."

When someone who is racist/prejudice saw him (or sess other's of mixed heritage), they don't make a distinction between 'mulato' and 'black' they just see black and they act on that 'blackness'.

It is a sad fact that many people are like that. In fact Mississippi (used and maybe still does) legally defines as person as 'Black' even if they have a single great-grand-parent who is black, although the person physically appears white. There was a lawsuit a few decades ago to get this changed, b/c some people who appear white alleged that they suffered racial discrimination b/c their Drivers License Identified them as Black.

Again, this completely missing the point about Race in American Culture.

Gordon certainly did. Funny that.

Now, if it were a straight race between a black conservative and a white conservative, I'd choose the one who best matched my views. Race should have nothing to do with it and it probably wouldn't have had anything to do with it until Obama started playing the race card.

Oh, and hanging out with racists...

Zenster,
While I have a moment.
In this link to the NYSlimes, dated 6 Mar 07, you will either need to be registered or use a bugmenot code.
Obama: Man of the World.
What are the opening lines of the adhan, that B-HO uttered in a first-rate accent?
In English:
"Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that Muhammad is his prophet… “

Comparing those words to the shahada, one of the five pillars of Islam, it seems a reaffirmation of faith, to me.
The shahada:
"I bear witness that there is no deity (none truely to be worshipped) but, Allah, and I bear witness that Mohammad is the messenger of Allah”
Then there is this report about Nation of Islam members involved with his Senate and election staff.
Here is the Chicago newspaper article when he was at Harvard, being race obsessed.
As a bonus, here is a Free Republic report about his father's radical communist past, and about B-HO's communist mentor from his high school days.
If there are any other topics I mentioned, that you wish to see links on, please let me know.

No2Liberals, You rock! What a wealth of information that article from the NY Times was, and the verbatim interview with Kristof on his blog entry for March 5, 2007.

The best part of the blog entry was this one comment:

What naivette!! The road to hell is paved with good intentions! If Democrats are foolish enough to nominate Obama, Republicans will get a walk over as it will be a repeat of silly candidates like McGovern, Mondale and Kerry. America is always governed from the middle. Obama’s supporters are bleeding heart leftists and ultra liberals who will be chewn up by Osama’s tribe and who will earn the contempt of the “free world” for swinging to the other extreme - willing to pontificate but afraid to assert, if necessary by force of arms. Obama comes across as an appeaser not one with a plan to checkmate Muslim terrorists. Kristof is bowled over by his cute accent, flawless pronunciation of Muslim names and “great sensitivity” to Muslim nations!! Why should this be a noteworthy achievement - after all Barack HUSSEIN Obama is a Muslim, though for political advantage he converted to Christianity. To Kristof this is not hypocrisy!! Kristof (more than Obama) does not expect Muslims to return to Americans in general and Christians in particular, the “respect” showered on them by Obama! While in Africa, Obama was merely trying to play to the black voter gallery back in the US by showing “solidarity” with African blacks. Did his “bonding” with Sunni Sudan end the genocide of fellow Sunni Muslims in Darfur? As a democrat I strongly urge fellow democrats to stop becoming emotional about Obama and see him for what he is - a green horn long on hype and short on achievement. Worse he is naive in his expectation that “idealism” and “morality” will win the day for him in world affairs. He has been careful in not committing himself to specifics in any critical area be it education, health care, Iraq, America’s competitiveness and the manner in which he will deal with the world after Bush’s disastrous unilateralism. And his total identification as a black, notwithstanding his white mother makes one wonder whether he will be at all fair to non blacks!!

One person's response to Hari was to discuss the India/Pakistan partitioning and the partitioning of "Palestine" simultaneously and how the US is colonizing the Middle East. It was the funniest attempt at manipulation I've ever seen in a blog. All because Hari's moniker sounds Indian - lol!

How about B-HO race baiting on the campaign trail...with lies.

Perhaps an article by a Black American journalist, and his perspective on The Candidate & Reverend Wrong.
If that's not enough, then perhaps this will keep you busy for a while, B-HO's International Socialist Connections.
While I may have gotten a little off track from the intent of your post, for me, it illustrates that my problems with B-HO have everything to do with his poor judgement and Marxist ideology, and nothing to do with his family tree, except for his attempt to use it for political opportunism.

Actually, the central theme of this entire essay is political opprotunism. Be it the Left's embrace of Jim Crow, socialist government agencies preserving long-discredited "one drop" racialist classification methods or Obama's cynical manipulation of race in his campaign, they are all prime examples of political opprotunism.
