Is This Not Exactly Like the Soviet Union?

Vladimir Bukovsky has discovered a striking resemblance between the great totalitarian unions, the Soviet version in the 20th century and the European version in the 21st.

More information about Mr. Bukovsky and the EUSSR (as taken from two YouTube site for this video) is below the jump.

Vladimir Bukovsky spent many years in Russian labour camps and psychiatric prisons for defending human rights. He came to Britain in 1976. He lectures and writes on the old Soviet system and the EU.

Amen brother. I have several friends whose folks lived in and under the Soviet Union. All of them comment on how similar the current prison of political correctness is just as bad as the system they were unfortunate enough to live in. I remember when the Berlin wall came down I had tears in my eyes. Now, a scant twenty years later it is being built again. There seems to be four camps.

1. The elites who are actively a part of this system.
2. The minions who support it.
3. The few who oppose it.
4. Those who are utterly in the dark and could care less. Until of course it is too late.

Of these four I believe #4 has the most members. Not just in Europe, but here in America as well. So sad, so very sad.

It is days like this that I feel like throwing in the towel, buying a remote place in Montana and unplugging the TV and computer. Let it all go to Hell. Sorry to be such a downer. It is just one of those days.

The chorus of Casandras grows - Bat Ye'or, Fjordman and now Vladimir Bukovsky .

WAKE UP EUROPE!

Admittedly, there seems to be a similar effort here in the US with the NAU. Oy!

Where you been in the last 60 or so years? The Berlin wall was there, so were the mine fields, barbed wire, Gulag was part of the European landscape...the Bolshevik atrocities - your future - were everywhere for all to see, yet Western Europeans en masse supported the Evil Empire.
Then was the time to wake up but you missed the right time and as nice corollary you shall swallow the fruits.
This post is laking of gist.

Bukovsky echoes Soviet defector Anatoliy Golitsyn who predicted this decades ago. He stated there was a long term stragedy of false liberalisation by the USSR to isolate the US, create a neutral socialist Europe, and to cause "convergence" on the USSR's terms. Re-reading Golitsyn's works, I tend to agree with him.

This is what comes from the destruction of higher principles derived from classical liberalism and Christianity. They have been fading away for some years, buried under an avalanche of materialism, humanism and atheism.

Is there potential to revive them by those who will not give over their future to political manipulators and ideologues? The process of awakening minds in this regard has never been easy or swift, perhaps leaving our children with a better opportunity to re-make their world than we shall have with ours.

Bukovsky's insights remind me of the parallels with the corporate model as well, where independent nations are analogous to independent businesses. Coincidence?

Wake up Europe?

Europe's drinking at the last chance saloon now with Ireland.
I know the E.U. voted to ignore the wishes of the Irish peoples, but low and behold, we were all to learn later, that this vote was in fact illegal, and therefore rendered meaningless under the Irish constitution.

An Irish "no" vote would wound the E.U. monster greatly, but as yet few have really acknowledged this point.

This explains all - and how we can all do our bit to help the Irish cause.....

Its a very good documentary too...
