The Wind in the Tall Trees

I know I’ve been posting a lot of Dutch news lately, but I can’t help myself — I have to put up one more before I turn in.

This is a comment from our Dutch correspondent Sagunto, who was responding to H. Numan’s portion of this morning’s post. It reminds me once again of Wilfred Owen’s poem “The Calls”:

For leaning out last midnight on my sill,
I heard the sighs of men, that have no skill
To speak of their distress, no, nor the will!
A voice I know. And this time I must go.

It seems that Sagunto has both the skill and the will, and is speaking out on behalf of his country.

Here’s what he had to say. I’ve edited it a little bit for spelling, punctuation, and clarity:

“..If some jihadist fundy pops Wilders, rest assured the response would be fierce (to say the least). I expect this might be the trigger incident for a civil war or the beginning of serious ethnic cleansing. It might very well lead to a massive uprising, not from Muslims, but from the Dutch.

“This must be known in Muslim circles as well, so I expect serious organizations (political Muslims in the Netherlands, or Al Qaeda) would not be so stupid as to go that far. The result would be counterproductive..”

I agree completely.

The current rate at which Islamists see their goals realized without any need to resort to violence, or even without them asking, will for the moment probably forestall the violent death of Geert Wilders at the hands of a Muslim, ‘cause it will almost certainly be deemed counter-productive to the cause of jihad.

It is the often neglected part of jihad that’s most destructive, the Islamization of Western society in small steps, the creeping unmaking of our way of life, often through the preemptive self-Islamization of the elites, forced upon the people.

The method of boiling the hapless frog, easy does it, is their most favoured, planning Islam’s Silent Takeover. But no less silent, and unnoticed (or else vehemently denied) by our political elites and their paladins, is the gradual buildup of a reservoir filled with Dutch aboriginal anger, resistance and resolve.
- - - - - - - - -
The level in this inner lake of Dutch defiance is rising fast and it already would suffice to power a rebellion — should Wilders fall victim to the jihadists — of such magnitude that it would totally shatter for generations to come the usual rosy picture of the Dutch as a mild and somewhat naïvely irenic brand of Westerners.

I witnessed the anger of those present at Dam square in the aftermath of the assassination of Theo van Gogh, and that anger has spread and become stronger. The Islamists wouldn’t know what hit them. And they’re aware of that.

The politicians in their fancy managerial dress sense and fear it, and are unsuited to ask the fundamental questions that need to be asked, because they’re afraid of the answer. The answer that they hear in the whispering reeds below. And it’s haunting the dreams of these mandarins and their Muslim clients.

For they represent the tall trees who will be caught by it, when the whispers have turned into a great storm, boiling like surf about the tops of them. And they already cower at the wisdom of a little boy who once remarked to his mother, “Well, why don’t we take away the trees, and then it wouldn’t wind.”

Kind regards from Amsterdam,
— Sagunto

If Theo Van Gogh's public massacre didn't rouse the Dutch, why would another public slaughter?

Op is op for the Netherlands?

So far, the Dutch have given every appearance of being complicit in their own eventual destruction, the farthest along in that race but given a run for their money by all the old EU members, the Brits, Scandinavians, French, Germans and Spanish etc.

Europeans, actually the majority of soft-headed soft-hearted liberals are reminiscent of a creature in Andy Capp's old L'il Abner cartoons called the "schmoo":

"The Shmoo first appeared in the strip in August 1948. According to Shmoo legend, the lovable creature laid eggs, gave milk and died of sheer esctasy when looked at with hunger. The Shmoo loved to be eaten and tasted like any food desired. Anything that delighted people delighted a Shmoo. Fry a Shmoo and it came out chicken. Broil it and it came out steak. Shmoo eyes made terrific suspender buttons. The hide of the Shmoo if cut thin made fine leather and if cut thick made the best lumber. Shmoo whiskers made splendid toothpicks. The Shmoo satisfied all the world's wants. You could never run out of Shmoon (plural of Shmoo) because they multiplied at such an incredible rate. The Shmoo believed that the only way to happiness was to bring happiness to others. Li'l Abner discovered Shmoos when he ventured into the forbidden Valley of the Shmoon, against the frantic protestations of Ol' Man Mose. "Shmoos," he warned, "is the greatest menace to hoomanity th' world has evah known." "Thass becuz they is so bad, huh?" asked Li'l Abner. "No, stupid," answered Mose, hurling one of life's profoundest paradoxes at Li'l Abner. "It's because they're so good!"

Ironically, the lovable and selfless Shmoos ultimately brought misery to humankind because people with a limitless supply of self-sacrificing Shmoos stopped working and society broke down. Seen at first as a boon to humankind, they were ultimately hunted down and exterminated to preserve the status quo. (Thought extinct after the 1948 adventure, one Shmoo always seemed to escape to Dogpatch's Valley of the Shmoon to form a new colony..."

Sagunto's piece is of literary quality, but what we need is ACTION.

Inspite of all the negativism, which now seems to be Holland's main export product, I still believe in a future.

With the right people in power, it will take only 7 days to create a new, viable Holland. This is my recipe:

Day 1: Dismantlement of the public broadcasting system, which is the main force behind the perpetuation of leftism. There will be a real political debate, or there will be no debate at all.

Day 2: Ban on squatting: no more free housing for squatters, the Left's shock troops and propaganda workers.

Day 3: Conversion of Dutch citizenship into a long-term residence permit for all carriers of foreign passports. No more tolerance for Turkey's and Morroco's migrational imperialism.

Day 4: Complete cancellation of welfare benefits to all healthy adults save single mothers. Non-contributors will be forced to change or leave the country.

Day 5: Withdrawal of the residence permit following penal offence or long-term joblessness. We will see an exodus of underachievers and criminals.

Day 6: Destruction of the asylum industry. Access will only be granted to refugees by non-challengable decrete from the Minister. Radicalist asylum lawyers will have to find a new job.

Day 7: Tax relief of at least 20%. This will inspire people to contribute to society and at the same time attract creative and productive people from elsewhere in the world.

I am sure that with this recipe, or variations to it, all the problems created by the Left will vaporize within ten years. Crime rates and ethnic tensions will drop, creativity and sociability ('gezelligheid') will return. The word 'immigrant' will become a honorary title.

Problem solved, case closed.

Amazing...that there are people among us who are still entertaining the hopeless idea that the disintegration of Europe can be stopped by some sort of Deus Ex Machina.
When Holland - and the rest of Europe - accepted the loss of sovereignty by joining the EU their fate was sealed: there must be no deviation from the orders of the Central Governing Body!
Rest assured, dare to open your mouth and they will unleash the police with exceptional brutality as it happened in Brussels for all to see.
Can't you see? - they smash even the mildest form of intellectual complaint, the trial of Brigitte Bardot and many others are the proof.
The consensus on the web suggests that Holland will go under first (opposition will be eliminated) followed by Britain, Belgium and Sweden.

Is this sentence a joke???:

"I expect this might be the trigger incident for a civil war or the beginning of serious ethnic cleansing."

The Muslims must be forced into action. How this is to be accomplished can be a topic of debate but it seems we all realize that without some serious Muslim violence that the current situation will not change and that Muslim immigration will continue unabated, Political Correctness will continue to muzzle the frustrated majority, the Left will continue to use immigrants against indigenous Europeans, and the Islamization of the continent will continue. The Muslims know that as long as they don't force the hand of the Europeans that they can continue to work toward their goal of wresting the continent from the indigenous European population. Both sides know this yet the status quo only benefits the Muslims therefore it is up to us upset the status quo and force a change in what seems to be thus far a preordained future state. I personally fear the loss of everything I have ever known, the loss of my culture, my country, my history, and way of life far more than I fear prosecution for safeguarding the things I love. What will it take to manifest those feelings in Europeans?

I agree.
It will involve serious forms of civil disobedience and action. Furthermore I think that, for Holland, it also means leaving the EU, because the EU (I grant @Bela that) is an instrument of oppression. The party of Wilders provides a political path towards these goals (don't know whether other countries have a Wilders they can vote for), but meanwhile I agree that the Islamists must be provoked into making mistakes.

Kind regs from Amsterdam,

Please Ladies and Gentlemen stay rational and realistic:
the EU not only a political system but a completely integrated economical-monetary web from which there is no way out without cataclysmic economical consequences to which a single country can't resist.
A couple murder here and there, a new mosque in your neighborhood, occasional honor killing are insufficient impetus for radical revolt.

And lastly, the numerical majority of Western Europeans are dedicated Marxist (Socialist) they voted for the establishment that instill the Multiculturalism and Islamism on the people's mind.

How many members Geert's party has?
You see? - Not very many.

We are witnessing now ACT I. the introduction of the players. All we can do is to watch as the play develops and progresses in the next 5-10 years.

Forget "massive uprising" - be an adult and think.

While I was browsing in the Universe I found this exquisitely sharp observation by a nameless blogger: he/she hit the nail on its head:

"what Italy, Swiss, Europe, and the middle east need is a new Stalin. Someone with the guts to clean up the mess. The Arabs did not raise their noise attacking the enlightened European civilizations during comrade Stalin years, nor they spoke or incited violence against Rome and Europe; the Islamists did not dream of conquering back parts of Europe, such as their present talk is about.
And, after all, Stalin was a true humanist."

Super observation! - I like it.

People nostalgic for Stalin are either history illiterate or consider rivers of blood and millions condemned to slave labor in gulag prison camps as a good thing.

Stalin apologists are recommending a proven toxic poison to "prevent" the Islamist totalitarian poison of unknown potency.

Stalin was a bigger mass murderer than Hitler yet has never suffered a tenth of the condemnation. His name and methods should be an utter offense to any decent human being.

It was the West that saved Stalin's bacon, when his fellow thug Hitler turned on him, not the other way around and it is the West who can and must do what it needs to do to conserve civilized life with no reference to power-crazed genocidal dictators thank you very much.

Bela said...

laine,
sorry if you did not understand the bitter sarcasm about the Stalin quote.
Let's me rephrase the concept for clarity: a heavy handed Commi dictator like Stalin or Castro would do well in the States. These kind of guys exhibit no fear of Soros, Clintons, Obama, Foggy Bottom or the Democratic Party.
He would send all of them to a Camp in Alaska for good.
He would name them as "Imperialist lackeys", traitors to the People's power and case closed.

Don't you see that Republicans when facing the Left behave like a group of chicken mesmerized by a snake's eye? - Bush included.

A very important step needs to be taken to stop, or slow down, the Islamification of the free world.

Outlaw Political [in]Correctness and Multi-Cultureism. Only then can the underling issues be fully, openly, and honestly discussed.

Groups that oppose free and open discussion will incriminate themselves with their howls of protestation or worse. They will display that they are in fact TRUTH phobic and /or KNOWLEDGE phobics.

Once a cancer is identified it can be treated.

I have said many times elsewhere that if the Left refuses to the join the fight then they must defeated domestically.

If they remain out there as the 5th column, then the Jihad will not be able to be combated properly.

And since I really doubt they're join the cause of the defense the culture they hate so much, and because the Non-Left is too Pollyannish to take direct action, the Left will indeed compromise all defenses.
