The summer rush of culture enrichment into southern Italy is really picking up steam. 25 Syrian migrants were intercepted off the southern Italian coast, 63 African migrants landed in Portopalo, and 45 South Asians landed on the Salento coast. 61 Somalis were rescued at Pozzallo, and another 84 were pulled from the sea off Malta. In another boat, 54 of 55 would-be migrants from Africa perished from dehydration.
In other news, a Nigerian senator and another politician were killed in an attack by Boko Haram terrorists on a funeral for victims of an earlier Boko Haram attack. The Nigerian Senate has since called for talks with Boko Haram in an effort to end the crisis.
