His original (untranslated) speech in Brussels on July 9 was posted here on Tuesday.
Below is a version of Mr. Cassen’s speech subtitled in English. Many thanks to Europe News for recording this video, and to Vlad Tepes for subtitling it:
A translation of the prepared text for Mr. Cassen’s speech is here (pdf). A translated transcript of the speech as it was given is below the jump:
01:29 | Dear friends - resistance fighters from all over the world,
01:32 | There was a time when France was hailed
01:34 | as the country of liberty and human rights.
01:42 | Words attributed to Voltaire were often quoted to epitomize these values:
01:44 | ‘I do not agree with what you say, but I will fight so that you may have the right to say it.’
01:49 | All of this has disappeared, in large part because of two laws that have disrupted the lives of the French
01:54 | and led to the prosecution of hundreds of unfortunate people by French courts.
01:57 | The Pleven Act, passed in 1972, contains two legal aberrations.
02:03 | Previously, according to French law, in order to file a complaint,
02:08 | you had to have been personally the victim of damage or injury.
02:12 | That system worked very well.
02:14 | The first aberration of this law was the introduction of new concepts such as ‘incitement to hatred’, or ‘incitement to discrimination.’
02:23 | The second aberration was that it allowed self-proclaimed antiracist organizations,
02:31 | to file charges against any person
02:36 | they considered as fueling hatred against a group of people,
02:41 | because of their membership or non-membership
02:45 | in an ethnic group, nation, race, or religion.
02:50 | Our rulers had, therefore, allowed the emergence of self-proclaimed political commissars
02:58 | whose job it was to fight racism.
03:03 | Another law, the Gayssot Act, was added eighteen years later.
03:06 | Under the pretext of fighting against Holocaust denial,
03:10 | its authors decided what should be considered a crime against humanity,
03:15 | and the courts could thereafter convict anyone who would have the audacity not to share the official view of history.
03:21 | If this law had existed in France before 1990,
03:27 | those who had doubted the official version of the murder of Polish officers at Katyn,
03:33 | long attributed to Nazi Germany, would have been charged and sentenced to heavy penalties.
03:39 | We were treated to comical examples of the implementation of these two laws,
03:44 | which were used primarily to charge and condemn anyone
03:49 | who dared challenge the belief that immigration was not necessarily an opportunity for France,
03:55 | or that Islam was not necessarily the religion of love, tolerance and peace,
04:00 | as the so-called experts of political correctness repeat to us ad nauseam.
04:05 | After working for more than 4 years at the anti-Islamization periodical Riposte Laïque
04:10 | and disseminating some 8,000 articles, I found myself, on February 3, along with Pascal Hilout,
04:17 | born Mohamed, dragged in front of the 17th Chamber of the Court,
04:24 | because of two articles deemed to promote hatred, discrimination, or violence against Muslims.
04:31 | In the first article, we explained that it would be them or us,
04:35 | Islamists or secular Republicans,
04:38 | in response to the claim of a leftist who was saying that it would be them or us,
04:42 | but was warning against the National Front.
04:45 | In the second article, Pascal (Hilout) explained, the Islamists’ strategy of conquest in Europe,
04:51 | through immigration, the use of (Muslim) first names, Ramadan, mosques, halal,
04:56 | and the re-Islamization of Muslims already living here.
05:03 | I would like, without repeating the entire content of the pleas for the accusation and for the defense in a trial that lasted ten hours,
05:08 | to share with you our fundamental argument,
05:11 | as well as those of the alleged antiracist organization and their ally, the prosecutor.
05:16 | We have defended the idea that we were attacking a dogma, and not people.
05:20 | We made the distinction between Muslims and Islamists,
05:23 | explaining that for us, Islamists apply their religious laws
05:28 | even if they are in conflict with the laws of the country where they live,
05:30 | while a Muslim would agree to leave out certain aspects of the religious dogma
05:34 | to comply with positive law.
05:37 | The argument of the alleged antiracist organizations was as follows.
05:41 | While they admit that we were making distinctions between Muslims and Islamists,
05:44 | they accused me of speaking with a forked tongue.
05:47 | Antiracist lawyers did this amazing amalgam,
05:52 | which is reminiscent of the methods of inquisitors and is used by many leftists:
05:56 | Criticizing Islam = Criticizing Muslims = Criticizing human beings = Racism = 1930 = Jews!
06:07 | It was therefore argued in front of the court that, 80 years later, Riposte Laïque represents the Nazi party,
06:15 | and Muslims are the new Jews.
06:19 | As for the prosecutor, she did even better, explaining that Mr. Cassen was an intelligent man
06:25 | - I’m flattered - but he should not fool us, and that, while recognizing that he attacked a dogma,
06:32 | it was obvious he wanted to promote, through his writings, hatred for all Muslims.
06:39 | A superb demonstration of prosecuting personal beliefs.
06:43 | We were not charged for our writing, but for the way the prosecutor –
06:46 | who had been handling the case - guessed what our thoughts were when we wrote the attacked article!
06:52 | For your information, she dared to require a three-month suspended prison sentence against me,
06:57 | and two months against Pascal, and collectively the five so-called antiracist organizations,
07:03 | including a vague entity called ‘Collective Action against Islamophobia in France’
07:08 | aiming to silence any criticism of Islam,
07:13 | asked for the modest sum of 158,850 Euros.
07:19 | Thanks to their great generosity, the judges only condemned us to pay a 12,200 Euro fine,
07:26 | without any suspended prison sentence, but this penalty was nevertheless unacceptable for us,
07:33 | and we decided to appeal the verdict.
07:35 | For your information, the Appeal will be held on 27th March in Paris
07:39 | and we hope to have the same result as Pere Samuel explained to us earlier
07:45 | ||
07:51 | Let us compare now the sentences awarded by the 17th Chamber
07:55 | to what happened to the Muslim-born rapper Youssoupha,
07:58 | who, in the lyrics of a song, explained ‘that he would give money to whoever would silence Zemmour,’
08:07 | the most famous French journalist refusing political correctness.
08:10 | It was a thinly-disguised death threat.
08:13 | He was initially sentenced to a suspended 800 Euro fine, plus 1,000 Euros in damages.
08:20 | However, he was acquitted in appeal, since the judges felt that these words,
08:27 | far from being a death threat, were part of a work of art!
08:31 | But we are not the first ones to have suffered the wrath of our justice system and our new inquisitors.
08:38 | The actress Brigitte Bardot, who has long fought for animal rights,
08:44 | was horrified by how barbaric halal slaughter is.
08:48 | She was prosecuted five times in court by District Attorney Anne de Fontette
08:53 | and was ultimately sentenced to a 15,000 Euro fine!
08:56 | Writer Michel Houellebecq dared to say that among all religions, Islam is the most stupid.
09:02 | The LDH and the Muslim League pressed charges, but he was acquitted.
09:08 | Finally, we, organized the « International Summit on the Islamization of our Countries » in Paris on December 18th, 2010,
09:16 | have just learned that two speakers, I reassure you, not Elizabeth
09:20 | Renaud Camus, a writer, and Jacques Philarchein, a professor of philosophy,
09:26 | are being prosecuted by the inquisitors of the MRAP (Movement against Racism and for Friendship between People),
09:31 | There, too, the method is interesting.
09:33 | On that day, 100 accredited journalists were present, and most of them were not favorable to us.
09:42 | All were hoping to hear racist statements.
09:45 | To their great disappointment, nobody shouted ‘Throw the Arabs into the sea’ or ‘Throw the Jews into the oven’,
09:50 | and they did not witness a single Nazi salute. So, they barely commented about this Summit.
09:56 | The most complete report came from the Qatari channel al-Jazeera!
10:00 | Yet, the next day, the MRAP accused three people of hate speech
10:05 | but without giving any evidence. Nothing happened for over a year.
10:11 | Then, that organization, seeing that the government, to its dismay, didn’t prosecute the speakers,
10:16 | they decided to file a complaint on their own against two of those speakers,
10:19 | and the overzealous prosecutor Anne de Fontette launched a preliminary inquiry,
10:24 | which granted a certain degree of legitimacy to the procedure, even though the French courts are already overburdened.
10:28 | What can we say about those dozens of unfortunate people who, just because they refused the Islamization of their country,
10:33 | will be dragged without any assistance in front of French courts like gangsters,
10:39 | while at the same time, on our own territory, with total impunity,
10:42 | rappers and Islamists commit many acts of intimidation and call for violence against anyone who is not a Muslim.
10:51 | The so-called antiracist associations, which, in some cases, have just around a thousand members,
10:58 | in a country of sixty five million inhabitants are flush with public subsidies.
11:00 | Thus, the LDH (Human Rights League) has an annual budget of 2 million Euros, and SOS Racisme has a budget of 1 million Euros.
11:07 | Some of those dare contest the reality of anti-White racism,
11:11 | and they are totally silent about the anti-Semitism of many young Muslim Arabs.
11:17 | Yet, they discovered the trick to get the jackpot,
11:21 | thanks to the complicity of leftist prosecutors obsessed with the defense of human rights.
11:24 | In the first of these cases, one of these associations filed a complaint.
11:27 | Almost systematically in such cases, the prosecutor launches a preliminary inquiry.
11:30 | Afterwards, the other associations join in the lawsuit, and all them combine forces in the courtroom
11:38 | to lynch the unfortunate defendants and petition the court to obtain exorbitant awards.
11:44 | At the same time, when Christine Tasin, contributor to the anti-Islamization periodical Riposte Laïque
11:49 | and President of Résistance Républicaine, was threatened with death on a video by a Muslim rapper,
11:55 | the same prosecutors dropped the case.
11:59 | The philosopher Alain Finkielkraut said that antiracism is the continuation of communism in the 21st century.
12:04 | The privileges granted to these new Stalinists, gravediggers of freedom of thought in France, are exorbitant.
12:10 | Imagine a society where we would grant such rights to other associations.
12:15 | Imagine if the pro animal-rights organization
12:19 | was able to drag to court anyone who would dare to write that it is pleasurable to eat an entrecote steak:
12:24 | Incitement to violence against a group of living beings, in this case, animals!
12:28 | Imagine if homosexual associations could charge with discrimination
12:33 | and press charges against any photographer or magazine focusing more on heterosexual than homosexual couples:
12:39 | discrimination against a group of people because of their sex-orientation!
12:44 | Imagine puritan and sectarian feminists dragging to court anyone who would dare to suggest a somehow sexually-biased portrayal of women:
12:55 | Incitement to sexual violence.
12:57 | I have tried to demonstrate through these many examples that the attempts of Islamists
13:03 | to challenge our freedom to commit blasphemy in France
13:05 | are supported by the so- called antiracist associations,
13:09 | by a part of the Left, and another part of the Right.
13:12 | Two Rightist members of the French National Assembly have introduced bills banning any criticism of Islam,
13:17 | There is, in France, a modern equivalent of the sinister Nazi-Soviet alliance of the last century
13:25 | called the Islamist-leftist alliance,
13:28 | which mainly targets the Resistance fighters who refuse the Islamization of their country.
13:34 | We observe that, on the ground, those who attempt to ban all criticism of Islam are not Islamists, but leftists.
13:45 | We saw them try to ban the ‘apéro saucisson pinard’ (the get-together of patriots around a feast of pork sausage and wine),
13:50 | and later our Congress on Islamization of our countries.
13:53 | They were supported by the socialist mayor (of Paris) Bertrand Delanoë.
13:56 | We saw them physically attack our comrades several times with methods reminiscent of fascists.
14:02 | We even have a French politician, who obtained 11% of the votes at the latest Presidential election,
14:07 | and who, like Hitler, regrets the victory of Charles Martel against Arab invaders in Poitiers in 732.
14:15 | Although he claims to be anticlerical, he supports the offensive of Islam and halal in our country,
14:22 | claiming that all those who oppose it are fascists.
14:26 | Those of us who oppose Islamization do not want to see Islam challenging all our democratic principles,
14:33 | and mainly our secularism, our freedom of conscience, our freedom to criticize all dogmas,
14:39 | or the principle of equality between men and women
14:41 | … everything that Islam is fighting with increasing determination.
14:44 | Last week, the new President of the French Republic
14:48 | was elected because 93% of French Muslims voted for him
14:54 | We saw at the Bastille not red, white and blue flags but instead foreign flags mainly from Muslim nations.
15:03 | Even if we offend some of them, we will repeat it clearly yet another time:
15:08 | Either we will win, or they will win; either democracy will endure, or we will return to the dark ages;
15:18 | either it will be the Islamists or the Democrats,
15:23 | Make no mistake: We will do everything we can so that WE will be the winners. |
