Gates of Vienna News Feed 11/11/2010

Gates of Vienna News Feed 11/11/2010A Conservative councilor in the English city of Birmingham got himself into a spot of bother when he made a joke on Twitter about wanting a particular female writer to be stoned to death. What in the world was he thinking of? Now, despite an abject apology, he has been arrested, and his political career has presumably come to an abrupt end.

In other news, in references to the disparaging comments about Austria made by the Turkish ambassador to that country (see my post from earlier tonight), FPÖ leader Heinz-Christian Strache said today that Kadri Ecvet “seems to be a Turkish nationalist with an arrogant attitude”.
