Opening the Floodgates

JLH has translated an article from Zuerst! from earlier this month about changes to Turkey’s immigration policy.

The translator includes this note:

The picture of hordes of immigrants poised on the Turkish shore inevitably calls up visions of “300” and the Persians.

The comments concerning Italy, Spain and Greece as entry points reminds me of the WWII Allied strategy of attacking the “soft underbelly” of Europe. However you look at it, the prospect of totally uncontrolled entry into an already reeling, politically correct Europe is dispiriting for anyone who harbors any fond memories of any place on the continent.

The last sentence of the article is a masterpiece of understatement.

The translated article:

Turkey Opens the Floodgates

March 1, 2010

Ankara has lifted visa requirements for several Middle Eastern countries, including Syria and Lebanon. For Europe, this means an aggravation of its security situation. Anyone without a visa who has no difficulties entering Turkey from the Middle East, will relatively easily find a way to slip into the EU. That is why visa liberalization by Ankara is seen by the EU as a confrontation with European countries. Turkey, which would like to become a full member of the European Union, is sending a clear signal by opening its borders to the Middle East. In Saudi-Arabia, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was asked whether his policies toward Muslim countries would change with Turkey’s membership in the EU. He replied with a quote from the Koran: “Strive for what is right, as it is commanded (by God).” At the same time, he sharply criticized the EU, which is letting the Turkish applicants cool their heels.

The situation is complicated still more by Turkish demands: Ankara is pushing for visa-free entry into the EU. According to the pertinent agreements, there is no longer sufficient reason to deny Turks entry without a visa. Ankara has complained that Serbs, Macedonians and Montenegrins may already travel to EU countries without visa, while Turkey is denied this (privilege) despite presently ongoing access negotiations.

There are already problems between Turkey and Greece. Athens accuses Turkish border authorities of allowing ships full of illegal immigrants unhindered passage to Greek islands, which are EU territory. Acting Director of the EU border authority “Frontex”, Gil Arias Fernandez, points out several instances in which Turkish patrol boats have turned a blind eye to the smugglers. There is also a bilateral “take-back” agreement between Greece and Turkey, but Turkey does not honor it. Greek authorities estimate that thousands of immigrants on the Turkish coast are waiting for the opportunity to cross the short stretch of sea to Europe. While the influx of illegal immigrants to Italy and Spain has lessened, the islands of Leros and Patmos are the new showplaces for the waves of immigration from Asia and Africa. Removal of visa requirements for countries of the Middle East could further increase the pressure on the EU.

I find it amusing that the holier then thou EU has not opened the floodgates of would be Turkish immigrants into Europe or allowed full EU membership of Turkey. Forgetting the whole Islam angle for a minute, could it be that in the back of their pea sized brains they know that Turkey is not and never will be a European country. Unlike Serbia Macedonia etc. If that is the case then is not their whole Multiculti philosophy a mere house of cards built on a sandpit? Even they cannot seem to kill that last shred of rationality inconveniently poking at their skulls.

If Turkey is allowed membership in the EU it will spell the end of Europe as we know it. Eurabia will then be cut in stone.

HH,

Very interesting article in LBF,I wonder if any Moslem majority nation can ever modernize.
Well, the Trojan horse is at the gates of the EU,are the 'Eurabists' stupid enough to bring it inside? The euro-elites' dream of re-creating the Roman Empire is a self-destructive fantasy.

Sweden to allocate 8.5 million euros per year to Turkey to conduct reforms

The Swedish Government has stated that it will provide not only political, but also financial support to the implementation of reforms in Turkey on joining EU.
The website of the Swedish Government issued a statement on intentions to develop strategic cooperation with Turkey. The statement stressed that Turkey’s joining the EU will be encouraged and supported by Sweden.

The statement also emphasized that Turkey will be supported in issues of democracy, equality and human rights. According to the statement, Turkey is one of the most important partners of Sweden, and reforms implemented in this country are of great importance.

The statement stresses that Sweden is ready to assist in the implementation in Turkey not only legal reforms, but reforms to attract women to the democratization process and projects related to minority rights. Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and the Center for Turkish-Swedish friendship under the Swedish Embassy in Istanbul will deal with coordinating the activity on development of cooperation between Turkey and Sweden.

SIDA, in particular, will provide the opportunity to Turkish students to take part in projects dedicated to human rights and democracy. Similar projects will be implemented in Turkey with Swedish students’ participation.

According to the support program of the Swedish Government for 2010-2013, 87 million Swedish krona (about 8.5 million euros) will be allocated to Turkey each year, CNN Turk reported.

Why don't the Greeks sink the ships then? I mean, in the days in which Europeans weren't pussies, we would have just stopped trading with Turkey, unless they clean their ships of illegals.

Another thing. Why are people surprised others can't wait to come to Europe? As long as illegals have an easy way to become citizens and get welfare along with live here... My proposal. Who comes here illegally is barred for the rest of his life to be a citizen or legal resident. His children will be forever excluded from becoming citizens and illegal immigration will be a crime for which you will get in between 5 and 10 years in jail and unless you leave on your own accord(you will still be barred from the former). Also, who will hire an illegal will have to pay a fine of ten times the yearly average wage in that country. If these were the rules, how many of these people would be waiting at the gates of Europe?

Look to the Armenians (they wont even recognize the genocide) and how Christians are treated in Turkey today as second class citizens, Churches not allowed to own property, and so on and so forth.

How can anyone in Europe be pro Turkish entrance into the EU is mind boggling.

Good luck, Sweden.

Erdogan will probably build another few mosques, right on top of the remaining churches.

Robin: nice profile crest; where'd you get it?

The EUrabians aren't trying to re-build the Roman Empire - they are attempting to re-create fawning, cringing, French-led GAUL, and they do have the gall to try to shove it on everyone, like it or not!...

;-)

The Turks must NEVER be allowed into Europe!

Vlad, you mean the avatar? I don't remember where I originally found it. It's actually animated but that feature does not seem to work with blogspot though.
