AWOL Again

I just read about your saints name. She was awesome. And fantastic as you are.
Dymphna made some serious mistakes and they cost her not only her life, but the life of the old monk, Gerebus, who accompanied her.
Her main mistake was to leave a "paper trail" - or rather a trail of gold coins she used to buy passage, to move to Ghent, etc. The coins were unusual and her father knew they were his...
...When I wrote about her as someone who was a hero, who overcame being a victim some commenters argued that she was indeed a "victim" since her father killed her.
However, in getting away, in setting up a kind of healing center, she left her mark. In her case, she could have 'safely' stayed in Ireland, condemned to a life as her father's sexual slave. But what kind of existence is that??
There are indeed worse things than dying, as many Muslim women prove when they kill themselves rather than live in pain, fear and slavery, a punching bag for her 'husband' and his family.
