According to “a senior American official”, the American soldier in Afghanistan who killed sixteen Afghans last Sunday was under a lot of stress, had been drinking, and simply “snapped” when he went on his killing spree. He is now being flown from Kuwait to a military facility in the United States, after complaints from the government of Kuwait.
In other news, two French paratroopers were killed in a drive-by shooting as they attempted to withdraw money from an ATM machine in southwest France. Robbery did not seem to be the motive, since no money was taken from the victims. The killer, who escaped on his motor scooter, has not been apprehended.
