But, given that hundreds of thousands of non-Muslims have been brutalized and slaughtered in the name of Islam in recent years, I don’t see why it’s incumbent upon us to celebrate the Religion of Peace.
But that’s exactly what our leaders want us to do:
Bush White House Event Celebrates Islam- - - - - - - - -
President Bush is hosting a controversial event at the White House Thursday evening, with an invitation to Muslim officials and clerics to join him for prayer and dinner in observance of the holy month of Ramadan.
Many Christians question the president’s decision to make the Islamic celebration of “iftar” into a standard religious observance for the White House.
Iftar officially breaks Muslims’ daytime fast.
Islam, referred to by some politicians as a religion of peace, is viewed by many conservative Americans as a faith rooted in violence and hostility toward non-Muslims, collectively referred to as “infidels.”
One of the invited guests to Bush’s annual event is Congressman Keith Ellison of Minnesota.
Ellison, the only Muslim elected to office, asked to be sworn into his position in Congress with the Koran instead of the Bible.
The Democrat expressed that he is looking forward to Thursday’s iftar event at the White House, and noted that he has also engaged in Ramadan observances at the Pentagon and the Capitol.
And it’s not only the president who’s busy salaaming to the imams; Congress can’t wait to join the groveling bandwagon:
This week, the House voted unanimously, 376-0, to recognize Islam’s holy month of Ramadan. The resolution commended Muslims and hailed the Islamic faith as “one of the great religions of the world.”
No one dared to vote against the resolution, but forty-two congressman mustered the nads to vote “present” on it, including, I’m happy to say, our own congressman, the Hon. Virgil Goode of Virginia’s Fifth District:
Forty-one Republicans, more than 20 percent of the caucus, and one Democrat voted “present” on a resolution recognizing the commencement of Ramadan on Tuesday.
The 42 lawmakers make up more than 10 percent of the members voting on the resolution. There were zero “no” votes, and 14 members did not vote.
The resolution recognized “the Islamic faith as one of the great religions of the world,” rejected “hatred, bigotry and violence directed against Muslims, both in the United States and worldwide” and “[commended] Muslims in the United States and across the globe who have privately and publicly rejected interpretations and movements of Islam that justify and encourage hatred, violence and terror.”
Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) dismissed the resolution as political correctness gone too far.
“This resolution is an example of the degree to which political correctness has captured the political and media elite in this country,” Tancredo said. “I am not opposed to commending any religion for their faith. The problem is that any attempt to do so for Jews or Christians is immediately condemned as ‘breaching’ the non-existent line between church and state by the same elite.”
Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) said, “I voted ‘present’ because I read somewhere that Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion.”
A miserable forty-two congressmen stand between the American public and total dhimmitude, and they are too scared, either of the throat-cutters or The New York Times, to actually vote “no” on this monstrosity.
A principled stand against such resolutions is in order. After a decade or more has passed since the last time a mujahid cut an infidel throat or killed his daughter for the sake of honor — then we can talk. But not until then.
I repeat: A principled stand is in order.
But don’t hold your breath.

Here is my letter to our congressman, The Hon. Virgil Goode, who voted "present" rather than giving his assent to this piece of craven legislation the Baron has called to our attention:
Dear Virgil:
Thank you for simply voting "present" on that craven resolution recognizing the Islamic faith as being "one of the great religions of the world" blah, blah, etc., ad nauseam.
I do wish you had chosen not to be present or had voted "no" on this elitist-driven piece of work, one which further trivializes Congress in the eyes of the American people and undermines our confidence in its elected members.
However, I still find your vote of "present" to have integrity...actually, maybe showing up to vote as you did has *more* integrity than avoiding the whole thing.
Now, when do we get a resolution for one of the other great religions of the world, Judaism? Here are their holy days, thousands of years older than the Islamic rituals:
The most important festivals of the Jewish religious year are celebrated during the first ten days of the month of Tishri, usually in September or October.
The first day is Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.
From Rosh Hashanah, until the last day, Yom Kippur, Jews think about how they have lived during the past year. They are asked to remember the wrongs they have done and to ask for forgiveness from God and those they have wronged.
Moving chronologically on to the next monotheistic religion in American, how about a resolution for Christmas and Easter? In fact, what would be more appropriate(this is my theology here) is a recognition of Lent, a time of fasting and abstinence -- both voluntary -- in preparation for Passion Week, i.e., the historical remembrance and ritual observancne of the death and Resurrection of Christ.
I am on less certain footing re the Hindu and Buddhist religions' feast days, but since there is at least one Hindu ashram in your constituency, perhaps someone could check that out and offer a similar resolution.
And as you know, there are two Islamic Jamaat ul-Fuqra compounds in your district with established ties to Sheikh Gilani, a Pakistani Sufi who is not permitted to set foot in this country. Of course, this does not prevent the members of these compounds from sending large tithes from their welfare checks back to Pakistan. Why do they deserve a resolution for their religion more than, say, the Baptists down the road...who have been in Red House for generations before the Islamists showed up.
I don't want the resolution re Islam undone. What I want is a level playing field that respectfully acknowledges the contributions of the many other faiths in this country.
If Congess cannot do that, then who can?
I separate Islam the religion from Islam the political entity whose members, some of whom are American citizens, claim the right to forcibly undo our Constitution and establish Shariah laws in its place. They are very happy with Congress' dhimmification today.
This Islam resolution will be a permanenet blot on the 110th Congress if some courageous person (or group of persons)
do(es) not propose similar resolutions which honor the religions of many, if not the majority, of their constituents.
This stand-alone resolution is shameful and must be remedied. Like your sponsorship of the bill re the fence at our southern border, such a resolution for other equally valid faiths will serve to protect our sovereignty.
Let us make no mistake about it: the resolution passed by Congress re Islam erodes the foundations of our sovereignty as surely as the tsunami of illegal aliens flooding our southwestern states.
Your faithful constituent,
Dymphna
Shall we speak plainly?
In being 'nice' to the muslims by welcoming their religious 'leaders' to the White House on the occasion of an Islamic holy day, President Bush assumes the muslims can be managed and will someday be 'nice' in return.
What foolishness. Islam is a false religion of murder, oppression and lies. Just examine the Islamic societies where Islam is the dominant religion, and the quality, content, and substance of Islam will be plain to see. President Bush, I am convinced, knows better actually. He ain't no dummy. Let us 'toy' with the muslims and invite them to the White House, our leaders say. In that way we defer having to fix 'the muslim problem' till later.
The truth is that our society, and western societies generally have become deeply addicted to a lavish and lazy lifestyle. It's all about the oil, oil, oil, and how it manifests into own lives via the expression of our own personal peace and affluence. Let loud and menacing muslims threaten the personal peace and affluence of our lazy and soft lives, and we will do these kinds of things:
- Declare from the highest places that Islam is a religion of peace, when if point of fact it is exactly the opposite.
- Send our sons to win the hearts and minds of the Iraqis, when in reality we are securing the oil supplies of the western nations, and especially our own economic status quo.
I have a prediction: this problem isn't going away. By toying with the Muslims and calling them peaceful, and by giving them the 'candy' of a White House visit, we only encourage the Islamic cancer.
Some cancers can be treated and put into remission. Some can be cut out, or cured by exposure to radiation or toxic chemicals. And the Islamic cancer? Sounds to me like the researchers are trying to figure this one out.
Good letter, Dymphna.
My reps will get something similar.
What other "great religion"- by its very dogmas- is anti-Constitutional, and anti- the secular state, and tells its followers not to befriends "Jews or Christians" in its own "holy book", and was founded by a slaveholding pedophile warlord?
"Great"?
Only in the sense that it is a great danger to humanity.
Congress, with a few exceptions like Goode and Tancredo, have their unused craniums implanted so far up their nether regions that they can probably see their own uvulas waggling in vapid praise of Islam ...even as they fail to research its basic texts or understand its imperialistic and intolerant aims.
Shameful fools.
Inviting our nation's undermining in their colossal, sycophantic ignorance of this challenge to our liberties and survival.
The elections of 2008 can't come soon enough. Until then I'll continue referring my friends and family to sites such as this for a dose of truth in the porridge of lies we're routinely served up by the news media, our politicians and the leaders of virtually all religious denominations.
Interesting irony in that while my president celebrates Ramadan with Muslims, and my elected representatives voted to officially recognize Ramadan and referred to Islam as "one of the great religions of the world," my local representatives just announced that they will no longer allow anyone to open their meetings with prayer to Jesus. "God" in a generic sense is okay, just not Jesus. Land of the free, indeed.
Tolerate "Muslims?" Only on conditions:
1. That they state explicitly that the Qur'an is not the inerrant and unalterable Word of God -- and before an imam, at that.
2. That they publicly and explicitly renounce all right to commit an act of violence against anyone, even in "self-defense;"
3. Having completed those two steps, that they all go back to the Middle East. There's no place in America for anyone who thinks women are naturally the chattels of men, that dogs are unclean, or that Jews and Christians are "the decendants of apes and pigs."

It's House Resolution 635, in case anyone wants to find the actual text on the Thomas site. Here's the roll call vote. Sadly, Nick Lampson, my purported representative, voted yea. So, disappointingly, did Ron Paul.
Even more disappointingly, no one introduced an amendment saying, "America is a nation of European Christians. By their violent aggression against European Christians for more than thirteen centuries, Muslims have made themselves unwelcome in Christendom. We therefore encourage all Muslims in America to return to those benighted countries where Islam predominates."
Congress Crosses the Line. Where is the Outrage?
Muslims Against Sharia condemn politically correct cowardice of the United States Congress. We call on every American Muslims to contact their congressmen, and voice their disgust with Congress' blatant disregard for the United States Constitution.
Congressional Resolution HRES 635 EH:
"House of Representatives ... acknowledges the onset of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting and spiritual renewal"
First Amendment to the United States Constitution:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion"

The battle of Badr was the most important among the Islamic battles of Destiny. For the first time the followers of the new faith were put into a serious test....

This battle laid the foundation of the Islamic State...
This is what our government is celebrating when it honors Ramadan! ARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!
