Gates of Vienna News Feed 9/5/2011The former prime minister of Iceland, Geir Haarde, has gone on trial for his part in the banking crisis that devastated Iceland’s economy two years ago. Other politicians and financial officials were originally implicated, but Mr. Haarde is the only one who has been brought to trial.

In other news, the police assigned to patrol the culturally enriched enclave of Rosengård in the southern Swedish city of Malmö are taking courses in “polite Arabic”, so that they may communicate with the citizens of the area more effectively, and thus reduce cultural friction.

Muslims tend to view current events through the lens of a long-standing historical narrative. According to this narrative, going back to the Middle Ages Christian forces from the West have persistently sought to break the grip of Islam on its people. By holding fast, Muslims believe, they were able to flourish as a civilization, at times superseding the West in many dimensions.

By resisting the hordes of muslim imperialistic invaders, Christians are viewed as having sought to break mahoundianism's grip on its adherents. That's the blame-the-victim mentality at its most hypocritical and shameless. Good thing fewer and fewer people fall for such monumental loads of nonsense published by al-CNN.
