English Defence League leader Tommy Robinson was convicted of assault today in Preston Magistrates’ Court. The charge stemmed from an incident at an EDL demo last April at which Mr. Robinson was said to have head-butted a disaffected EDL member. The defendant vigorously denied that he had assaulted anyone, and says that the charge was a political one designed to keep him out of active involvement with the EDL.
In other news, the latest reports say that former British Prime Minister Tony Blair had no fewer than six meetings with Libyan dictator Col. Muamar Kheddafi after Mr. Blair left office in 2007.
