Gates of Vienna News Feed 12/20/2010

Gates of Vienna News Feed 12/20/2010New York Mayor Bloomberg has expressed his displeasure with Rep. Peter King, who has announced his intention to hold hearings on radical Islam when the Republicans assume control of the House next month. Mr. Bloomberg thinks such hearings are “not appropriate”, but he might want to reconsider, given that a recent Pew Research Center poll shows that even “moderate” Muslims entertain extremist beliefs.

In other news, more than 200 Shi’ites were arrested in Malaysia for breaching Sunni law on Islamic practices.

A monument was unveiled in the Spanish capital Madrid to commemorate nine Turkish terrorists killed by Israeli commandos in the May 31 raid on Gaza-Bound aid ship Mavi Marmara, as Anatolia news agency reports.

Hitler, Hasan al-Banna and Yasser Arafat statues could go really well with that, couldn't they?

Considering it's Spain, edifices to Napoleon and Franco would be more appropriate.

I had no idea that the Turkish dead were so sacred to Spanish honor.
I wonder what Ferdinand of Aragon would say and do about this?
