The Bayonets of Islam

Minaret ban 1

“The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets and the faithful our soldiers…” — Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan

A referendum on the minaret-ban is coming up next month in Switzerland, and some of the posters being used are causing quite a stir.

Our Flemish correspondent VH has compiled a report about the controversy. First, his translation from Politically Incorrect:

The Swiss city of Lucerne does not want an Islamization landmark

Minaret ban 2On November 20, the Swiss will have the opportunity to vote for a constitutional ban on the building of minarets. For this upcoming referendum, a number of sensational campaign posters have been made. The “Initiative Committee Against the Construction of Minarets” issued a poster with black minarets stabbing up through the flag of Switzerland, with in the foreground a not-too-sympathetic-looking woman in a black burka.

Youth of the city of Lucerne have now joined this initiative. They also have designed an election poster that will add some dynamite to the debate: the Lucerne water tower collapsing and being replaced by a minaret surfacing from the harbor in front of it. Muslims responded in shock: “That poster is reminiscent of the persecution of the Jews under the Third Reich!”

But what does the tipped-over water tower of Lucerne replaced by a minaret have even remotely to do with the Third Reich?

Minaret ban 3“With the water tower as a symbol we want to provoke and stir,” says Anian Liebrand, who is the president of the Lucerne chapter of the SVP Youth. According to Liebrand, the minaret is “the spearhead of the Islamization”. The poster will be put up from mid-October onwards over a large area in the Canton of Lucerne, to calling for a “yes” vote on November 29 on the prohibition of the construction of minarets.

Muslims from Lucerne are shocked and outraged. “This poster is no different from the anti-Jewish propaganda before World War II,” fulminates Petrit Alimi, who is Vice President of the Islamic Community of the City of Lucerne. The situation of Jews is simply seized today by Muslims.

Minaret ban 4But not every comparison is flawed. If one were to say, conversely, that the water tower is replaced by a minaret, a symbol of power of a totalitarian system which has supplanted a landmark of the Occident, it would be a reasonable and sound comparison and close to reality.

VH adds:
- - - - - - - - -
And the usual veiled threat has already been expressed: Farhad Afshar (67), President of the Coordination of Islamic Organizations in Switzerland warned: “This poster is Islamophobic and provokes fear.” Moreover, he fears the negative reactions from the Muslim world: “People [abroad] will react with incredulity when they see these posters, because they have a high opinion of Switzerland.”

The federal government of Switzerland is expecting protests from abroad. For this specific reason an expert group has been created. The chairman of this group is John Matyassy, the President of the federal public relations bureau “Präsenz Schweiz” (which also has as its assignment to act when the image of Switzerland abroad is at serious risk): “In the case of negative reactions abroad, we will do the necessary clarification job. We are prepared.”

More information about the actions of the SVP Youth from Lucerne can —in due time— be read here. The Yes to a minaret-ban campaign has an extensive website with campaign material, various articles on the subject, and background information here.

And here is the declaration of the SVP Youth, as translated by VH:

Yes to the minarets initiative!

Minaret ban 5Members of the SVP Youth have joined together with other politicians, and founded the nonpartisan Lucerne Committee “Yes to the ban on minarets.” The goal is a “yes” for the referendum on November 29, 2009. Further information can be found soon on www.minarette.lu.

Religious freedom is not affected!

The minaret as a building has no religious meaning. It is neither mentioned in the Koran nor mentioned in other sacred writings of Islam. The minaret is rather a symbol of the religious and political claim of power of the Islam, that in the name of the purported rights of religious freedom — in particular with regard to the equality in the Constitution — denies the same constitutional right to others. This claim is in conflict with the Constitution and the legal system of Switzerland.

A “Yes” vote on the minarets-ban referendum does not affect the freedom of religion in any way. This freedom is thus guaranteed. A ban on minarets is also in no way directed against members of the Muslim faith. It rather seeks to discuss the problem of the religious claims to power of Islam in a democracy.

Minarets pave the way for the muezzin!

A minaret is the platform for the muezzin, for the Muslim calls to prayer. The pretense that the call of a muezzin will never sound from a Swiss minaret, is contradicted by the practice abroad. Wherever a minaret has been built, it was later followed with an application for a license for the call of the muezzin. It is naïve to believe that Muslims are fighting for a minaret as such, without having the intention to use it for this purpose later on.

Problematic claim of sole representation!

The minaret brings with it the claim by Islam of sole representation, expressed with its intolerance towards other religions. For this reason, the minaret can not be compared with the church tower. Firstly, the church tower is an expression of our Western Christian heritage. Secondly, the Christian church today does not claim sole representation.

Christianity and the State exist side by side, in accordance with existing secular practice, unlike Islam, which does not differentiate state from religion. Islam penetrates and mines the entire political system. Sharia law is molded strictly according to Islamic tenets. The constitutional state and the Sharia are antitheses. The minaret eventually enforces the primacy of the Sharia, and that has to be prevented in the interest of our culture.

Founding members of the Committee are:

Dr. Med. Yvette Estermann, member of the National Council, Kriens
Nadia Britschgi, member of the Canton Council, Ballwil
Dr. Phil. Hermann Suter, former member of the Canton Council, Greppen
Anian Liebrand, Beromünster
Christian Eiholzer, Schötz
Michelina de Paola, Kriens
Carina Wandeler, Nottwil

The opponents to the minarets need to martial their evidence that there is no religious requirement for minarets on any mosque, since no muezzins climb them anymore and the calls to prayer are electronic.

They are now purely symbolic, brutal fists punching and dominating the skyline, meant to intimidate the non-Muslim population.

The equivalent in the past would have been forts (because mosques are not analogues to tame western places of worship) with swastika towers or later the hammer and sickle on every second city block.

Sorry, "need to marshal their evidence". It was a Freudian slip since their minarets like all Muslim incursions are martial in nature.

Muslims, like rust, never sleep, and will see no need to justify their minaret/s. They must be opposed all the way.

What does a minaret have to do with the Nazis?

The Mufti of Jerusalem was Hitler's BFF.

Horse hockey! Jews have never sought the violent overthrow of our entire world with a heaping helping of genocide to boot. Neither is the average form of Judaism a totalitarian pseudo-theocracy. Yes, there are unwelcome theocratic aspects to hardline Judaism but little to nothing of it has anything in common with the tremendous similarities that abound between Nazism and Islam.

Islam's near-continuous historical track record of imposing itself upon metropolitan skylines, if not upon the monuments of other cultures (e.g., the Hagia Sophia), makes any denial of intent to dominate just so much unadulterated rubbish.

More bull's pizzle! Muslims already have only the lowest opinion of dal al harb and a negative Swiss poster will not significantly alter the degree of their negative perception.

1. Muslims are always shocked. Generally they are shocked to know that one of their own has been arrested for Jihadi activity, or worse, killed while engaging in same.

2. Any attempt to stop the growth of Islam, immediately prompts Muslims to compare themselves to the real plight of Jews in Nazi Germany.

If the situation is so bad for Muslims in Europe, akin to that of Jews in Nazi Germany, why they don't they just leave. Why are boat and plane loads of Muslims heading to Europe? Haven't they heard of the plight of Muslims in Europe?

And what is with this "plight of Muslims comparable to Jews in Nazi Germany". I thought the general opinion in Islamic countries is

1. The Holocaust never happened, or is greatly exaggerated.

2. Hitler didn't finish the job.

What does a minaret have to do with the Nazis?

You may as well ask what does a scimitar or the sickle moon have to do with Islam.

One of the city’s famous landmarks is Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), a wooden bridge first built in the 14th century.

In the mid seventies Sheik Yer’mami had the great pleasure to spend a bit of time in this great city and therefore fondly remembers the awesome, wooden structure and the magnificent paintings. Naturally, the religious nature of the images aggravated an itinerant Muselman, who felt it was his religious duty to please Allah by burning the bridge.

The tourist guide won’t tell you that.

The Kapellbruecke is 203 meters long and it dates back to the year 1333. The bridge is covered by a wooden roof under which 111 paintings were added in the 17th century. Unfortunately a fire destroyed 86 of these paintings in 1993,and they had to be replaced by replicas.

More Mohammedanism, more destruction to come!

Any links?

There are no more links.

All links regarding this crime have been removed, not a word anywhere. At the time it was reported that some Iraqi immigrant (Uzbek or some such) did it. Of course we all know that only Iraqi Christians would do a thing like that.

That's why I remember it. You can try and do your own searches or try to contact the police in Lucerne, but I doubt you'll have much luck.

Islam uses the memory of the persecution of the Jews and the Nazi Holocaust (when it does not deny it) to promote its own imperialistic totalitarian murderous anti-Semitic aims.

Hitler must be laughing in Hell.

Along with Mohammad (Dante wisely stuffed him in the Inferno).

The Nouveau Big Lie that Muslims try to sucker the Europeans with ("We are the new Jews!" boo hoo hoo...!) should be mocked as a shameless outrage and spiritual crime upon the human soul.

Islam is a parasite posing as a religion.

The disguise is its most effective weapon.
