Today Jyllands-Posten is comparing the spine of the EU to the consistency of overcooked macaroni.
The title of the editorial is “Another Disgrace”, and refers to the Durban conference. It offers support for the arguments used by Villy Søvndal yesterday.
Denmark’s biggest newspaper, a hardcore conservative one, offers full support for Denmark’s most hardcore socialist.
Good or bad? I don’t know, but the important thing is that, although the degree of opposition to the so-called religion of Islam varies according to where you look in Denmark, it is now clearly a matter of exactly that, and not about someone being for or against Islam. Things are now moving rapidly to the inevitable point of “us” versus “them”.
Good! The sooner the better! Why fight in the last trench when you can get it over with in the second or third? Now we just need Politiken and the “artists” to open their eyes and the PC politicians to stop being PC.
Excerpts from the JP editorial (as translated by TB):

From the 20th to the 24th of April 2009, it is feared that a majority of the countries in the UN, led by the OIC, will deal such a devastating blow to the Human Rights Declaration that, if they succeed, it will in reality lose its value and thereby, de facto, remove from the UN its very right to exist.
[…]
The proposal from the OIC will turn human rights upside down and place sharia from the 7th century desert community over the rights of the individual. To avoid this, a range of intellectuals have started a global petition at Boycott Durban 2.
The previous disgraceful Durban Conference ended on September 9, 2001. Two days later the Muslim terrorist attacks hit New York and Washington.

Is there mere concidence of timing, or are there actual facts linking these two events?
Randian, I believe it's merely a coincidence. As is the coincidence that friends of mine (I couldn't go that far) stood in Downing Street 10, London on July 21st 2005, demonstrating against Turkey in EU - at the exact hour that the second London subway bombings fizzled.
These coincidences happen, and I have no rational explanation.
They merely add further motivation to do what citizens in democracies need to do - to stand up for what matters, rather than leaving things to be run by the 'Pros'.
