Angry Spanish demonstrators protesting new “austerity” cuts in public spending have vowed to besiege the parliament building in Madrid as part of their protest. They clashed with police, who were forced to fire rubber bullets into the crowd to disperse it. At least 64 people were injured, and 35 were arrested.
In other news, Muslim leaders demanded that with UN oversight Western countries crack down on blasphemers who insult any religion. At an OIC meeting in Geneva, a Pakistani spokesman said that all countries must pass laws against defamation and negative stereotyping of religions.
