The Islamic Days of Rage spread to Australia today, as violent protests broke out in downtown Sydney. A number of people were injured, six of them police officers. Some of the injured were protesters bitten by police dogs. Eight people were arrested.
In unrelated violence, Chinese protesters in Beijing stormed the Japanese embassy. The demonstrators were angered by the Japanese claim to own the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea.
In other news, Muslims in Tampa opened a new mosque. Area Muslims hope that their worship center — called Dar-us-Salaam, or the House of Peace — will help build new understanding among different religious faiths.
