“Just Kill Jewish”

From Snaphanen come these examples of multicultural sentiment as expressed in Denmark’s public spaces:

Just Kill Jewish

Steen added these comments, as translated by Reinhard:
- - - - - - - - -
Distributed at Copenhagen’s Rådhusplads Wednesday by a nervous man, about 25 years old, who hastily disappeared. We value honesty. One assumes that the tests for citizenship do not include spelling… We reported earlier that there are 13,000 Palestinians in Denmark. TV2 stated the other day that there are 23,000.

Visit Steen’s place to see the full-sized version of the photo, and also to read other related news (mostly in Danish).

I dunno about this poster. #1 why is it in English... sort of when its posted in Denmark?
2. Why a scan of it and not a photo of the thing where it was seen or found? I have no doubts whatsoever that Muslims throughout the world feel this way but something about the particular photo doesn't seem right to me.

It's not a poster, it's a flyer or similar handout.

It's in English for the same reason that the Israeli victim in odense spoke English in his interview -- it's the lingua franca in Denmark. Most people speak English, and virtually everyone has a basic reading knowledge of English.

Steen is 100% certain that the flyer is authentic. I can't give you any more information than that, except that I trust Steen's judgment.

One is obliged to wonder just how much longer the world will be able to ignore Islam's lust for genocide. We need more cartoons along with anything else that inflames Muslim hyper-sensitivity into exposing its intolerance and hostility towards all other ways of life.

Thank you Baron these are things I did not know.

I am sorry but your comment that "most people" speak English smacks of linguistic imperialism!

I live in London and if anyone says to me “everyone speaks English” my answer is “Listen and look around you”. If people in London do not speak English then the whole question of a global language is completely open.

The promulgation of English as the world’s “lingua franca” is unethical and linguistically undemocratic. I say this as a native English speaker!

Unethical because communication should be for all and not only for an educational or political elite. That is how English is used internationally at the moment.

Undemocratic because minority languages are under attack worldwide due to the encroachment of majority ethnic languages. Even Mandarin Chinese is attempting to dominate as well. The long-term solution must be found and a non-national language, which places all ethnic languages on an equal footing is long overdue.

It would behoove you to read my comment more carefully. I said English is the lingua franca in Denmark, which is true -- most people in Denmark can communicate minimally in basic English, as I can attest from my own experience. The same is true of other parts of northern Europe.

But southern Europe and the rest of the world are another matter entirely.
