Here at Schloss Bodissey we woke up this morning to a thick coating of ice. Fortunately, the electricity is still on, so I haven’t been forced to fire up my new emergency steam-powered modem.
It’s still raining, and the ice became even thicker after I took this photo. However, the temperature is rising fairly rapidly now, so the chance of any further damage is low.
I hear they have it worse up in D.C., but luckily the Messiah is in residence there and will take care of everything. He has only to raise his hand, and the ice will melt, the sun will break through the clouds, and the birds will sing again.

I highly doubt it's worse here than in the mountains. It wasn't even delayed opening for federal offices - just "you're permitted to spend leave if you can't get out your driveway" b/c of the ice.
I walked a mile to the metro like normal - downhill and uphill - not too bad. Could be more of a hassle tomorrow morning if the ice freezes on the pavement tonight rather than just crusting over the snow like it did last night. No real accumulation during the day though.

You forget that Congress is also in session. The combination of Congress and Obama will means lots of hot air. Probably the only place on earth where man made global warming is occuring.
