We’re at Box #2 and Counting

Welcome a new blog to the ranks of the resistance: Ballot, Soap, Jury, Ammo. Here’s the explanation of the blog’s title:

Read the Federalist Papers. Read the Constitution. Read the Bill of Rights. Educate yourself in what the Founding Fathers said and meant. It’s all out there.

We now have four years of righteous and responsible political resistance.

I believe as Ed Howdershelt said, “There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo. Please use in that order.”

I used the ballot box yesterday. Today it’s time for the soapbox. God forbid we ever go past that point again.

Keep an eye on this guy.

Perhaps my question is better suited here:

I'd like to pose a question. If one strips away all the hype and bulldust surrounding the American presidential race, is there any reason to think that at the end of the day, Obama is just another product of the Democratic political machine and will be no worse or no better then any previous president?

Obama is going to be a standard Democrat, only more so.

The standard Democrat is corrupt and aligns with the rent-seeking entities that make up syndicalism or crony state capitalism, to their mutual benefit.

Obama owes many favors to groups that are far, far worse than the usual Democrat supspects -- the Nation of Islam, ACORN, and various other Marxist orgs. He has to implement some of their programs -- they bought and paid for him. So he will try.

His regime will go a lot farther in the direction of the Soviet model than any Democrat ever gone has before, unless he is lying through his teeth.

And if he is lying through his teeth, Baron, he won't have any teeth. That's a rough crowd he hangs with.

I think he is worse than liberal. He very much believes the hype. He is absolutely going to try to do the things he has promised. He has congress and he has the honeymoon period that all new administrations get to have.

He was picked on purpose. He believes that socialism is the way to go, and his supporters, like moveon.org, expect him to be effective.

The only question is how his plans and policies are accepted by the people. If he really opens up and goes too far, he's going to have a difficult time getting things done. I think the country is still center-right, even if the votes didn't show it yesterday. He's still too far left, and that will save us in the next four years.

Business as usual then.

I guess the next question might be, what influence or leverage will those groups and their ideologies have on the Obama administration? I think that may be a more pertinent question than what a politician may have promised to certain groups.

I guess 2012 might shape up as an interesting election, Obama v Palin.

We also do not really have a box #4 in Australia.

Oh, I think Barry is much more radical than he lets on. Pair that with his narcissism and we are in for one rough ride.

@Darrin

That's true; I'd forgotten. You guys down under lost that particular option after Port Arthur. There was also some loss of search and seizure protection, as I recall.

Any chance of someone coming in to office with the political cojones to attempt a reversal? The statistics are certainly in favor of removing the ban. Crime skyrocketed in just the first year.

Folly, not a chance in hell, at least not from the Establishment parties. Australians have never had a "right" to bear arms the way Americans have, most Australians have never handled a firearm, let alone own one. So there was no great public outcry when the anti-gun laws were strengthened.

It hasn't stopped gun related crime and brings to mind that old saying, Cum catapultae proscriptae erunt tum soli proscripti catapultas habebunt

Ok, I'll bite.

When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns?

The blogger forgot Russell Kirk's The Conservative Mind. Almost as essential reading as what the Founding Fathers wrote.
