Fjordman’s latest essay has been published at FrontPage Mag. Some excerpts are below:
The first week of the trial against the confessed mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik has been completed in Oslo. The way it has been carried out has intrigued visiting foreign journalists in both positive and negative ways. A representative of the television news channel CNN was impressed that Norwegians take “pride in the fact they are a society who will respect Breivik’s human rights, even when he showed no respect for the lives of others.”
Many are shocked to find out, though, that the maximum penalty one can get in Norway for any crime is 21 years in prison. That’s in total, not per murder, although there are admittedly mechanisms in place for keeping a person locked up indefinitely if he still poses a threat to society.
If Breivik is judged to be sane he will thus get just a few months in a comfortable jail for each of the 77 murders he committed. Is that a sign of a society that values human life, or is it a sign of a society putting the rights of criminals above those of their victims?
On April 20th the terrorist described in horrifying detail and with shocking indifference the dozens of individual murders he committed during his shooting spree on the island of Utøya outside Oslo. Yet he had cried publicly only a couple of days earlier when the court showed his own rather silly and unprofessional propaganda movie.
The political commentator John Olav Egeland said that Geir Lippestad and the other defense lawyers worked hard in court to make Breivik appear as rational as possible. The purpose of this was to have him declared sane, as well as “to spread the responsibility for the actions Breivik has done.”
I finished reading his manifesto a week before the trial began. I was struck by how much he has quoted the free online encyclopedia Wikipedia, and how little focus on this there has been in the mass media — as opposed to the fact that he cites some Islam-critical writers.
Calling Breivik “the Wikipedia terrorist” is perhaps an exaggeration, but he certainly uses this source very extensively, from discussing weapons and body armor, to the nuclear reactors he fantasizes about blowing up. He admitted during the trial that the English language version of Wikipedia has been his main source of education. It has probably shaped his strange and imprecise political vocabulary, too. For example, he employs the term “national anarchists,” which is not commonly used in major publications.
In his long statement in court he quoted in a slightly modified version the American President John F. Kennedy: “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.” This was also highlighted in his 1,518-page so-called manifesto, in which he quoted another former US President, Thomas Jefferson, that “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” These quotes are more militant than anything ever written by Robert Spencer, Bat Ye’or, Andrew Bostom, Melanie Phillips, or myself.
On page 1,120, ABB cites the American Declaration of Independence from 1776 in favor of his views. This document was written primarily by Thomas Jefferson. He mentions the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, the right to bear arms, and thereafter refers to Mahatma Gandhi and the quote “Disobedience of the law of an evil state is therefore a duty.”
The Western mass media have widely portrayed those quoted in Breivik’s manifesto — against their will — as dangerous right-wing extremists. Do these alarming extremists include Thomas Jefferson and Gandhi?
On page 1,164 Breivik quotes the Marxist leader Fidel Castro, who has ruled Cuba for half a century, as stating that “I began the revolution with 82 men. If I had to do it again, I would do it with 10 or 15 individuals with absolute faith. It does not matter how small you are if you have faith and a plan of action.” Mr. Castro represents a totalitarian ideology, and although he is a revolutionary Socialist, he has not been blamed for inspiring Breivik.
Breivik is the anti-Nazi who admires neo-Nazis, the anti-Marxist who admires Marxist revolutionaries, the anti-Islamist who openly admires and emulates Islamic Jihadist terrorists, the non-religious person who thinks he will be canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church for murdering unarmed teenagers, a “perfect knight” who calls his sister a slut, and a modest man who believes that his candy-eating habits are of geopolitical importance.

Breivik's provoking in court
- An echo
Says he would have beheaded several of the ... heads of Ap, and then put it on video
Beheading, video - where did anyone hear of that before? Where did he ever get that idea from?
His references are clear. He has been, and is going to extremes to make his message heard.
Will the left, however see the connection?
A Person like Breivik must only be tried for any crimes that he is proven to have committed in a Court of Law with a fair trial; because that is due process, even though the Judge or Judges will hear the stated reasons that could be either true or false.
European jails accommodate both Right Wing and Left Wing People, and that fact should not be used to generalize on all Voters or some of their Political Policies.
It is the Policy of Left Wing Politicians and Right Wing Politicians to create jobs for the Unemployed, and to have good Road Traffic Laws, and so creating jobs for the Unemployed and to have good Road Traffic Laws cannot be discredited or stopped because there are convicted criminals and Motorists who Left Wing and because there are convicted criminals and Motorists who are Right Wing.
In this world a Person who looks poor, may in fact be rich; and there are People who look rich, but they are poor, because they are have debts, and a Person who appears as Left Wing may in reality be Right Wing, and a Person who appears as Left Wing may in reality be Right Wing, because we all know the Tactical Advantage of False Flag Operations.
If I wanted to discredit an organization, then I would have my People infiltrate that organization, in order to give the organization a bad name and reputation as far as the gullible and easily deceived Public were concerned, who regrettably happen to be the majority in most European Countries.
We know that opinions, thoughts, and beliefs if kept only in a Person’s mind, cannot Only Of Themselves inflict anything what is bad upon others; neither can they Only Of Themselves perform anything good toward others.
It is Only By Acting upon any opinions, thoughts, or beliefs that a Person or Persons can inflict anything bad toward others or toward themselves; or that a Person or Person’s can perform anything good toward others, or toward themselves, and that depends on what is going on in the mind of the Person or Persons.
An example of this is that of smoking tobacco, and we know that there are People who continue to smoke tobacco even though they know it is bad for their health, and their wealth.
They know that smoking tobacco costs them Money that is desperately needed, especially if they are poor, and it is an inconvenience for those who do not smoke tobacco.
The danger lies in the fact, that even if a non smoker who has never smoked cigarettes were to constantly think on tobacco and smoking cigarettes, then he will certainly smoke his first cigarette, and this may lead to him smoking more cigarettes, and he may end up becoming addicted to nicotine.
This principle can be applied to other areas of Crime, and while the European Government should make Laws to preserve Liberty, Freedom, Freedom of Speech, and the pursuit of Happiness.
Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller, Gates of Vienna, Fjordman (and other blogs and bloggers whom the MSM try to frame as the inciters of the Breivik massacre) are doing everything they can to distance themselves from him. They are fighting for their survival and credibility, and it is perfectly understanable. Having said that, any informed person who read or listened to Breivik's court statements in their entirety (and not the out-of-context snippets broadcast by the MSM meant to fit one of their pre-existing favorite labels, such as "racist" or "Far Right" or "neo-Nazi" or "insane") can see that Breivik is remarkably informed, logical, patriotic and sane. He defended Fjordman from the MSM witch hunt, he stated he was not a neo-Nazi, and he even said that he was not opposed to immigration, as long as the immigrants assimilated and posed no demographic threat to the indigenous Norwegian population. How can any rational Westerner disagree with any of these statement. Rather, it is quite the definition of insanity not to agree with them. Breivik decided to go after the people he perceived as being the enemy from within, who are far more dangerous than the external enemies (foreign Muslim invaders), and who enable and empower the foreign enemies---an act which takes a remarkable degree of courage and determination. I understand what a harrowing experience the MSM's hounding and vilification must have been for Fjordman and Gates of Vienna, but I wish we, the anti-jihadist blogosphere and its readers, got over our collective guilt, and I wished that Fjordman switched from writing anti-Breivik essays back to writing the inspiring essays he used to write about Western history, science and art, because those who loved Fjordman and found him inspiring, continue to do so, never having entertained even for a moment the notion that he possibly contributed to the Breivik massacre.
Seems Anders Breiviks has a history with psychiatric care - dating back to when he was 4 years old when he was admitted for observation for three weeks together with his mom and his sister. One of the psychiatrists from back then comments in the norwegian daily Dagbladet.no that they feared he'd develop serious mental illness.
Yea...
Dagbladet.no - in Norwegian
Haters are gonna hate, and no matter how much the anti-jihad anti-pc/mc people try to placate the MSM and the Left, they will still be scum in the eyes of the Left.
Fjordman needs to get over this incident. He needs to understand the moment he became noticed on the Lefts radar, he became a target and unless he wants to go the Charles Johnson route, he'll always be a villain to the Left.
That is the price one pays for writing things the totalitarian Left does not want discussed about in public. And make no mistake the Left at it's heart is totalitarian in nature and in behavior.
We're in a fight and don't even know it.
Breivik is a killer with no ideology -- he just wanted to kill. There is a long history of political violence, and guess what? The masterminds were almost never caught and punished: Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Castro, Hitler, Franco, Mussolini, the IRA (and Gerry Adams), etc. Not to mention all the Islamists who kill for political aims.
The political killers all share one characteristic -- avoiding being punished. They have OTHER PEOPLE to kill for them.
In the most recent political context, we have Gerry Adams. Who according to recent press reports has confessed or been implicated by those who confessed to many political murders. Likely reaching or exceeding Breivik's total. The ETA, Corsican, Mafia, and other European killers who did so for crime/political aims (and they were often inter-twined) dwarf Breivik's killings ... and almost none of the masterminds were prosecuted.
Breivik was a lone nutcase who just wanted to kill people. He wasn't that much different from Omar Thornton (a Black guy who killed 8 White guys because they were White), or the guy who killed White/Asian people at Southern California's SCE office here. He was just more efficient and a better planner, less impulsive, more controlled, more methodical. More like Cho Seung Hui than say, Jared Lee Loughner.
Some people just want to kill, and find any excuse to do so. Others kill for aims, and are lionized or made into villains depending on if they succeed.
There is not even the slightest possibility of Breivik being copied by a political movement (as opposed to lone-nut copycats of whatever disorder might come to pass) because there is no desire for it. Masses of White guys willing to kill to create, what exactly? Violent political movements only happen when there is a surplus of gunmen with grudges and a sense they can WIN. No one likes to be a loser, not even with a pathetic 27 year prison sentence.
Putting together some of the things said in comments 3 and 6, like how the masterminds were almost never caught and punished, and Breivik deciding to go after the enemy from within, could it be that Breivik decided that the political elites of Norway were traitors to Norway, levying a form of predatory war against their own people by bringing in hostile invaders to commit the actual acts of war against Norwegians for the political elites, and that for this, those political elites deserved the death penalty for treason, and Breivik was going to make damn sure that the masterminds of that treason did not go unpunished? If THAT is the reasoning, then Breivik can actually make a moral case for his actions.
Überhyped Norwegian author Karl Ove Knausgaard writes in NY Times
The trial is for us. Not for him
"
The hype: "Min kamp", autobiographical, a must for "everyone", Stoltenberg & co, not the least. German title "Mein Kampf", for release in Germany, was for some reason not accepted.
Breivik gained sympathy for those he supposedly opposed.
And brought suspicion upon the cause he purportedly championed.
So he is either a double-agent Al Qaeda stooge intent on discrediting any rational resistance to the ongoing Islamic invasion of the West, or he is a total imbecile with a murderous complex who found a "rationale" to excuse his own homicidal impulses.
Either way, a useless s.o.b.
@ Profit's Beard
I dearly love succinct. Keep it up.
I realized that I should have said a Person who appears as Left Wing may in reality be Right Wing, and a Person who appears as Right Wing may in reality be Left Wing.
This is because the World is full of trickery, because we all know the Tactical Advantage to Scoundrels of False Flag Operations, where you commit the crime, but let your Enemy take the blame for it.
I think we will never find out for sure who Breivik is and what his real motivation was. The only fact which is certain remains that he committed atrocities and should be tried and sentenced accordingly.. everything else is and remains only speculation.
