Kevin Carroll Steps Up

Kevin Carroll, Paul Weston, and Tommy Robinson

This line of work takes its toll on people.

Counterjihad activism doesn’t pay very well. It demands long hours from its volunteers. It also tends to cost them their jobs, their freedom, or even their lives. It’s not a pastime to take up if you prefer the quiet life.

Late in 2011, British Freedom announced that Paul Weston, Tommy Robinson, and Kevin Carroll were shouldering the burden of a political party that was sure to bring down the weight of the British establishment against itself. Sure enough, a little more than a year later, Tommy Robinson is languishing in solitary confinement without having been charged with a crime.

And now Paul Weston has decided to step down as Chairman of the party to concentrate on his literary efforts, a role in which he feels he can be more effective on behalf of the cause. Kevin Carroll, who made such a commendable showing in his recent run for Bedfordshire PCC, will move up to take the helm of British Freedom.

Here’s the resignation letter that Paul sent out yesterday:

It is with great sadness I must announce my resignation as Chairman of British Freedom. I am writing a book about the current dire state of Britain, which is going to take up the majority of my time over the coming months, and I feel it would be better for British Freedom to be led by someone who can devote more time to the party.

Kevin Carroll will now take over the Chairman’s role and he does so with my full support. Kev is an incredibly brave man who wears his heart on his sleeve. I am convinced his leadership will contribute to the ever-growing membership and media presence of British Freedom.

I am grateful to all of you who supported the party over the last twelve months, a period which saw British Freedom gain national and international recognition, and which culminated in the fantastic result Kevin and the party achieved in the Bedfordshire PCC election. I know we didn’t win it, but for a new party to achieve what we did is testament to not only the dedicated work of British Freedom’s volunteers, but also to the fact that our political message clearly resonates with a large section of the British electorate.

I wish British Freedom all the success it so richly deserves over the coming months and years. To all the members and supporters who worked (and donated) so hard to push British Freedom into a nationally recognised position, I wish you a Happy New Year.

Very true about the hours. Most of us have jobs and/or families - unlike many of the "antifascists" and far-left student hippies against us. Or Islamo-propagandists for that matter, probably funded by petrodollars to devote their time to spreading (mis-)information. Which means we have less time at hand to fight what's also an unfashionable cause. But we're lucky to have many talented bloggers and activists, like yourself, Robert Spencer, Takuan Seiyo, Fjordman, Tommy Robinson and Paul Weston.

As was said by Henry V in Shakespeare's play by the same name - "we few, we happy few, we band of brothers".

British Freedom loses Paul Weston - a party which, thanks to Britain's election system, most likely will not win a single seat. But the Counterjihad prevails. And the new book could bring some new food for thought.

not too unfashionable, keep talking, I've seen results from this, brick by brick, people are changing thier minds

There are far too many alternative micro parties. All they do is split the nationalist/patriotic vote. Paul's 20 point plan is great but you can find 90% of it in one form or another in the literature of all the other parties. I'm going to vote UKIP and pray Farage doesn't sell out for a vague promise of a multiple choice referendum, a safe tory seat and a future cabinet post.

Pardon me but is Britain still a democracy after the Tommy Robinson case? Imprisoning him is clear political persecution.

Has Weston been got at or is it just
cowardice in the face of the enemy.
This is the WRONG time to abandon ship when Robinson has been
neutalised. Robinson was definitely on the right track with the street
protests/marches. If these were to
be kept going something on the Establishment side would crack. I doubt if Carrol would come across
as well as Tommy in interviews. Have
we been stitched up ?

In answer to the question is Britain a democracy, the answer is it has not been a democracy since the 1960s when it became virtually illegal to protest against mass immigration. The day Heath sacked Enoch Powell and following Labour's introduction of the Race Relations Act, the English just chose to keep their heads way down below the parapet for fear of ending up in court. I suspect that Paul Weston has been got at, a shame as he is an educated and erudite man who could never be classed as a rabble rouser.

The destruction of democracy continued through the 1970s when Heath signed us up to the European Common Market knowing that the ultimate aim was a totalitarian Marxist multicultural superstate.
Somebody has just written to all the main newspapers here stating that this was treason but I thought that Tony Blair abolished the law of treason as he knew that he was one of the main perpetrators.

I don't know if that was an Englishman who quoted from Henry V but I wish he hadn't. It reminded me that there once was a sovereign homogenous nation called England surounded by a protective wall of water.

MP Jack Straw who has non-native English antecedents, has said that England and the English are not worth saving and virtually all our politicians of the last 50 plus years have agreed with him. Soon England and the English will be lost for ever and the Battle of Agincourt will mean nothing to anybody. Well, it already means nothing to the majority of the under 50s.

How unjust. How CRUEL to suggest cowardice of a courageous man. To plant that suggestion in minds.
Paul Weston is a VERY courageous man!

Paul Weston: "It is with great sadness I must announce my resignation..."

Note, the "great sadness" and the "I must". It indicates very strongly this is something he ABSOLUTELY does not want to do!

I want to go back to England, I want to go back to England, I want to go back to England. I did have a bump on the head, didn't I?. The land of Aas ( the Afro-Asian Settlement ) was all a bad dream wasn't it?

meh, looks like "British Freedom" is going nowhere fast.

And yes , it does look to me like Paul Weston is abandoning ship, I mean, why did he take on this responsibility to begin with if he wasn't in it for the long haul?
