Gates of Vienna News Feed 5/30/2011

Gates of Vienna News Feed 5/30/2011After months of mass protests in their major cities, Syria and Yemen have pushed their crackdowns on demonstrators to a new level. In both countries the army was ordered to quell the protests using all necessary means, including firing into the crowds massing into central urban areas. Yemeni government jets also bombed Al Qaeda strongholds in the coastal city of Zinjibar.

In other news, a 19-year-old beauty contestant in the Crimea was stoned to death by several young Muslim men for violating sharia law with her salacious behavior.

A teenage Muslim girl was stoned to death under 'Sharia law' after taking part in a beauty contest in Ukraine.

Look at that beautiful young girl in the picture from the story:

The only pertinent response to this kind of story (of which there have been literally thousands, in various permutations of grotesque ghoulishnessm in the past decades from around the world) is fury expressed in the most vulgar and foul and verbally abusive language possible -- directed not at Muslims, but at the Westerners who continue to defend Muslims.

Well said, Hesperando. At this point, we are as culpable as they in standing back and allowing this to continue.

70% of Science Award Finalists Children of Immigrants

"Of the 40 finalists, 28 had parents born in other countries: 16 from China, 10 from India, one from South Korea and one from Iran."

So, not all "immigrants," but just certain kinds of immigrants and clearly not others. Distinctly absent from the list of finalists are enrichers from Muslim countries (with the possible exception of Iran), Africa, and our esteemed friends from the south -- Hispanics. Well, maybe next year, Saleem and Yolanda.
