Be Careful What You Eat, Son

Cultural Enrichment News

Somewhat over twenty million people live in Australia, and about 2% of them — maybe 400,000 people — are Muslims. That’s a relatively small number, yet Australian Muslims seem increasingly to control public discourse and social interaction, which are also constrained by the brutal orthodoxy of Multiculturalism.

In recent years the socialist nanny-state has added “bullying” to its list of top concerns. But what happens when the problem of bullying clashes with the dogma of Multiculturalism?

Which is more important, preventing bullying or coddling the cultural enrichers?

We’ll soon find out. According to today’s Daily Telegraph:

Parents Say Son Was Tormented for Eating Salami Sandwich During Ramadan

A SYDNEY couple has withdrawn their two children from a public primary school, claiming their 11-year-old son was bullied by Muslim students because he ate a salami sandwich during Ramadan.

Andrew Grigoriou said yesterday he complained to the school and to police after his son Antonios was chased and later assaulted by Muslim students after a confrontation over the contents of his lunch, The Daily Telegraph reports.

Antonios, a Year 5 student of Greek-Australian background at Punchbowl Public School in Sydney’s southwest, said he and a friend had to be locked inside the library for an hour after being chased by a group of Muslim boys offended by his choice of food while they were fasting.

The Grigoriou family said the following exchange took place:

Muslim student to Antonios: “Why are you eating ham, it’s Ramadan?”

Antonios: “My mum packed this for lunch today.”

Muslim student: “Don’t eat that. How can you eat pig, it’s disgusting.”
- - - - - - - - -
During the confrontation a Muslim boy allegedly accused Antonios of saying: “F—- the Muslims” but Antonios denied swearing.

Mr Grigoriou said he removed his son and a younger child from the school on Tuesday after the boy was punched in the eye and kicked in the legs by a Muslim student.

“It has broken my heart to see this happening to my boy,” he said. Antonios, who wrote about his experiences in words and drawings, still has nightmares.

The Department of Education and Training said it had a zero tolerance policy towards racism.

“Claims of bullying or racial intolerance are taken very seriously and looked into,” a spokeswoman said. “The School Education Director is looking into the matter and called the father concerned.

“As a result … the school will work with all families and students involved to ensure that the values promoted by Punchbowl Public School and the department are understood and supported.”

After the salami sandwich incident a student described as “the ringleader of the group” was suspended from the school. The department said that the school had “ongoing cultural and interfaith awareness programs to improve understanding among students of events like Ramadan and Christmas”.

Other parents also complained to The Daily Telegraph about bullying at the school and claimed victims received too little protection.

One said her 12-year-old son was scared to open his lunch box at school because he was harassed about what is in it. “He has been bullied from day one … about being a Christian and about the hot salami in his lunch,” she said.

“My boy has a Greek background … the bullying is extreme.

“He has been called a fat pig and hit on the back with a stick.”

Another mother said her young son refused to go on school excursions for fear he would be bashed.

Muslims are only 2% of the population and they are already trying to impose their culture on the host Infidel culture. It isn't just the grotesque intolerance of Muslims that's on display here, their supreme arrogance is as well.

And it's a typical Muslim response, claiming the kid said F the Muslims, they are the victims even if they did the beating. Betcha the multicultural morons find a way to exonerate those poor, abused Muslims.

Stupid. If anyone ever tried to tell me what to eat and what not to eat, there would be quite a confrontation and I wouldn't come off worse in the ensuing fight. I'm not condoning physical violence, but really, one has to defend oneself.

Completely off topic, but what's with the verification letters actually spelling words recently? The other day I had "plump" and today I've got "salsa".

Hey Natalie--

About those verification letters: turning them into words sounds like a good idea. Of course I suppose if one were inclined toward hearing CIA transmissions thru the fillings in one's teeth, "plump" and "salsa" could be construed as a sekrit message to lose weight using a Mexican diet.

IOW, who knows??? Since Blooger would tell us that no one knows, let's make up entertaining stories about their strange ways.

If school food is adding pounds, I recommend large helpings of guacamole. Avoid the rice and beans.

Sorry,Ilíon & WAKE UP but criticism has to have some redeeming feature: education, edification, etc. "Deport 'em all" doesn't move the conversation forward. Neither does name-calling.

BTW, the reason that favil skates by is that his criticism is for both sides in this mess. That kind of comment does indeed leave open the opportunity for further discussion.

Oddly enough, I don't recall either calling anyone names nor saying "Deport 'em all."

But, I think my education has been advanced in the past few minutes.

The Danes are experimenting with a novel way of deporting those they deem are not willing or capable of becoming Danes. However, I foresee this system being abused. That being said, at least the Danes are doing something which may eventually lead to a more effective way of dealing with the problems being faced by the West. I believe that for a truly open discussion on these matters, politically correct "laws" and "commissions" need to be dismantled. Furthermore, those that act on their more base instincts(ie. kill, injure, etc) should be automatically deported to their or their parents/grandparents country of origin. It's a little drastic but any immigrant who breaks the laws of the country in which they're a guest in should be automatically deported...and any counsel who wishes to represent them can only do so in the deported person's country of origin.

Muslims imbibe entitlement with their mother's milk so that they are little chauvinist punks already in grade school, showing the same pathologies that are lethal when they become adult, at least in age and body. They never become adult in the sense of putting away a childish me-first attitude and taking responsibility for their actions.

Even at 2% of the population, they manage to bully the natives and usually escape consequences due to politically correct libs afraid to say boo to a non-white person. When Muslim punks manage to terrorize non-Muslims with such small numbers, imagine what they will do to us as their numbers rise. As for when they dominate, the fate of non-Muslims in countries that were once Christian like Egypt is dismal.

They gang up on a single victim, never entering a fair fight because Muslims can't win without fighting dirty. If they're alone, they've got a bomb strapped on.

They lie, claiming a kid would be so stupid as to direct a racist taunt at a group of thugs when he is alone.

They are offended by any action that does not accord with THEIR misbegotten beliefs. Non-Muslims are to be bound by their preferences.

Can you imagine one of the libs worried about making non-Muslims observe Ramadan food rules demanding that Muslims fast/give up meat during Lent? Now imagine sending the libs with a group of Christians to Saudi Arabia. Tell the libs to demand that Saudis fast during Lent so as not to offend the Christians. If they're not willing to ask for Christian minority preferences to be inflicted on Muslims in their countries (recognizing how dumb this would be), they should stop promoting Muslim preferences in Christian countries (just as bizarro).

As for Muslims, they should take themselves, their hijabs, footbaths etc. out of our public square and practise their religion in privacy. They also have to accept that they have no say on what non-Muslims say or write about their crapfest of a religion. If they cannot do that, they do not belong here.

Yes, and don't you get the sense that the West is beginning to perceive the problem and starting to 'feel around for a solution'?

Some see things earlier than others and get impatient waiting for the others to catch up; that's just how it always is. But I think we are making progress - not as fast as some of us would wish, but we are moving in the right direction and we are gathering pace.

As a product of the Australian school system myself (though I went to Catholic schools, rather than Public ones), I am actually curious as to how long this bullying has gone on.

The behaviour you ascribe to Muslims, laine, is one shared by all bullies, regardless of their background. I should know - I was at the bottom of the pecking order at primary school.

You have to remember, Australia isn't America, and these things don't come out of nowhere. I got picked on because I was shy, sensitive and freckly. It built up for years, from kindergarten, until I had thumbtacks left on my seat in Year 5 (I changed school in Year 6, before going to High School in Year 7).

I found that high school was very, very different to primary school. Granted, I went to a large private school (Riverview), but I would assume similar dynamics would generally apply. I forged lasting friendships and contacts, and I was not bullied once while there (though we call each other names all the time - our way of being simultaneously affectionate and insulting).

Finally, my school actually went to a Muslim only private school. Guess what - they were plenty okker. We played touch footy, and the girls, even wearing their headscarves (as I see many of them do at Uni), were hardly oppressed (many, I feel, wear it out of choice).

Frankly, to my mind, freedom of religion means to live and let live, and so long as these people accept Australia's laws and traditions as compatible with their own, I'll doff my hat to a Muslim lady and outside a mosque, just as I would to a Christian lady and outside a Church.

Law Wells: doffing your hat to a Muslim lady outside a mosque might get you in trouble with the PC 'police'. Here in the USA, a man engaged in perfunctory neighborliness: smiled, nodded his head, and said hello to a female neighbor in his apartment hallway, who was wearing a scarf. He was reported to the management board of the apartment: he's not allowed to do that to an Islamic woman, it implies he is 'coming on' to her!!!
