Sweden Loves Immigrants…but Denmark Has Questions

The other day Fjordman sent a link to a Swedish editorial hoping someone might have a go at translating it. But since the Baron is out of town until Friday, and I don’t have his list of his translators, I put it aside to await his return, though Fjordman’s note piqued my curiosity:

This column from national Swedish newspaper Expressen is so insane, you need to get somebody to translate it. They are debating whether mass immigration to Sweden should increase the country’s population by 1000 % or merely 300 %. It’s purely a matter of logistics. The survival of the Swedish people is a non-issue.

Then in the email, up popped the very thing I needed: without being asked, TB had a go at putting that same editorial into English.

As you will read, Fjordman and TB are correct in being concerned about the lemming-like behavior of Swedish editorialists. Not even The New York Times could have written such balderdash.

Here is the translated editorial from Expressen. See what you think:

Welcome

Tomorrow the SCB [the Central Bureau of Statistics - ed.] presents a compilation about how many we are here in Sweden. We should be a lot more.

Nothing gets the national movement going as when you say just that. That we are on the way to being few in this sparsely populated place called Sweden. That we have room for so many more people from every corner of the world.

It is a kind of sad-and-amusing irony that exactly those people who tell us that they love Sweden so much are the same people who will promote a policy that will stop the immigration. Nothing would harm Sweden more than a stop to immigration.

It seems to be as if people think that we welcome people from other countries just because we are sweet. And sure it is so, that we in the rich part of the world have a special responsibility to help people who are on the run from war, hunger and catastrophes. But even though the ‘national’ movement is completely empty on everything related to empathy and other decent proprieties, the care of Sweden should make them embrace new blood.

Indeed, immigration is, as the economist Phillip Legrain show in his book “Immigrants - Your Country Needs Them”, a benefit for everybody. Especially as the population of the rich world becomes older and older.

The numbers from The World Bank showed some years ago that if the rich countries increased their labour by 3% between 2001 and 2025, the world would earn 356 billion dollar a year. 162 would go to the immigrants themselves, 139 billions would go to the new home countries and 143 billions to those who stay in the poor part of the world.

That immigration policy, especially the integration part of it, has been disastrous cannot be blamed on the immigrants. The fact is that we not only need a much better migration-and-integration policy, we also need many more immigrants.

That the government open up the borders is a good first step.. But to seriously be able to attract labour and compete in a global economy against countries where languages known to most people are spoken and where you will find a much bigger variety of cultures and work, we have to be much more ambitious to find a strategy. We cannot back into the future.

A hand full of politicians and debaters have put forward their chin on this loaded question. Lena Klevenås from The Environment Party thought that we should be 30 millions. Anders Ferm (S) and Mauricio Rojas (FP) made their bid 50 millions. The journalist Jenny Morelli said 80 million while here colleague Torbjörn Björkman from Proletaren had the highest bid on 160 million.

Actually only our fantasy - and courage - is the limit.

TB says: “Hallelujah. (My comment)”

It does make you wonder what these folks are smoking.

And then there are the Danes. The un-dhimmified Danes. You could see this conflict coming when the Danes decided to get tough on immigration, a stance at odds with the EU suck-up.

From The Copenhagen Post we read this threat:
- - - - - - - - -
The Danish People’s Party says it will end its cooperation with the government if immigration laws are relaxed

The past weeks’ crisis within the Refugee, Immigration and Integration Ministry caused the nationalist Danish People’s Party to threaten to end their support of the Liberal-Conservative government if changes are made to immigration laws.

After revelations that Danish family reunification laws were in conflict with European Union rules, Birthe Rønn Hornbech, the integration minister, has kept silent on the issue, creating a backlash from the media and all political parties - including members of her own Liberal Party.

But the Danish People’s Party, whose support of the government allows the coalition to remain in power, indicated the past years’ toughening of immigration laws is the primary reason it has cooperated with the government. If the government backs down to the EU on the issue, the party said it would withdraw that support.

A majority of the parties at parliament are now calling for a thorough investigation into Denmark’s immigration policies to determine specifically what areas are in conflict with EU regulations.

The primary bone of contention in the current dispute is in regard to an EU rule that permits couples to obtain residence in all member states, provided they have legally lived and worked in another EU country for at least two weeks, both having worked a minimum 11 hours per week. This applies to all couples of legal marital age, but Danish law requires both husband and wife to be at least 24. [my emphasis]

This is going to be an interesting fight. It will have deep repercussions throughout the EU, perhaps on the same level as Ireland's very loud "no." Denmark is in the process of deciding for itself what its sovereign rules will be. The EU doesn't recognize sovereignty, having spent so many years and countless amounts of money attempting to eradicate those boundaries. Come to think of it, there is a lot of Danish DNA floating around on the Emerald Isle.

Such a short distance to travel in terms of geography, but Sweden and Denmark might as well be from different planets. On one of these planets, the EU is not the ruling party.

TB found this nice contrast, too.

Sweden's suicidal inmigration policy is bad enough, but the outright hostility so many people of Swedish origin feel towards their own culture is incredible. It's as if they have completely lost their national sense of worth. They see their culture as something not worthy of defence or respect. No pride whatsoever, except for pride in how completely multiculturalist they are and how much they put their own culture down. Their minds are so open their brains have fallen out.

The "powers that be" are working hard to achieve the same openness of mind in the province formerly known as the UK too!

This one, from July 10, is even worse:

Dags att förbereda för 90 miljoner flyktingar

Time to prepare Sweden to grow 1000% to 100 inhabitant. Because of ... tada! ... global warming. Which will create so many "climate refugees".

The article announces smugly that the Swedish liberal party can stuff its idea of language requirement to a museum, since it's not reasonable that the minority should decide what language the others should talk (the Swedes being less than 10% in this future vision).

The article argues against any sort of control on immigration, which would be unfair and inhuman in a situation when people are eating sand in some Southern European desert.

Etc. And more in the same stile. Read it if you understand Swedish. If you thought above article was crazy, that's nothing compared to this.

Of course this was in Stockholms Fria, i.e. the leftists. Expressen represents a more moderate Swedish opinion.

It's called "self-loathing" and the disease is endemic to liberal thinking. Did you notice that glaring little iridescent neon day-glo hallmark of self-hatred in the original article?

The numbers from The World Bank showed some years ago that if the rich countries increased their labour by 3% between 2001 and 2025, the world would earn 356 billion dollar a year. [emphasis added]

When you consider such a statement in the light of how socialists just adore the Zero Sum equation (i.e., for me to win, you must lose), then vile rich old Sweden could only have gotten that way by ripping off all the Third World countries. Socialists simply cannot conceive of creating wealth instead of merely redistributing it.

Clearly, the Swedes are already rolling in slathers of their filthy lucre and the only way of rectifying that monumental injustice is to assure that all further monies are handed directly across to people who have absolutely no intention of ever earning even one thin dime through an honest day's work.

Yeah, that'll fix things just dandy.

Conservative Swede: The article argues against any sort of control on immigration, which would be unfair and inhuman in a situation when people are eating sand in some Southern European desert. [emphasis added]

Got it? Need it be any more clear? Perish the effing thought that those sand-eaters are being starved to death by corrupt leaders who simply cannot live without solid gold toilet seats. But nooooooooo, it's got to be the fault of productive, wealth-creating people with their evil, mean and greedy capitalism.

Never in a million years could these effete and spineless traitors make the mental leap of realizing that those poor misunderstood hyper-corrupt Third World tyrants just plain need killin'.

Let's ask ourselves this question: Is Japan, the country people knocked because they have not opened the flood gates to immigrants, having trouble with Islam and their Muslim followers? A big, fat, resounding, "NO."

The Japanese are smart, and even smarter yet for not caring what other countries say about them.

If Muslims aren't sent packing, then the laws of the land must be enforced and applied equally to all peoples. Immigrants who break the law are allowed one strike per family and then their entire family is sent packing.

Two weeks!? Two weeks!!? Why even bother at all!?

We'll happily provide Sweden with troublesome immigrants from Denmark. We even have a bridge today that makes such adventure easy. We have some 400,000 to offer. Many of them are well used to the welfare system, tax evasion, smuggling of high-cost powders from exotic countries, wife-beating and other elements of 'cultural enrichment'. Further, Sweden has been much more accommodating in building mosques, which fits right in to the mentality and political aspirations of many immigrants.

Export accomplished, we'll probably want to reinstate border control.

Conservative Swede said... 9

That's too few. We need some 90 millions. I think we had better make a deal with Pakistan instead.

In the next version it will be two hours (out of which one has to work a minimum of 11 minutes).

Which will also qualify for full pension after retirement in any EU country of choice.

Insanity is not exclusively a Swedish phenomenon. I will illustrate this by translating a column in a Finnish netzine Uusi Suomi. The column was published in November last year.

Uusi Suomi is considered a right of centre website the same way Expressen is in Sweden. However, Uusi Suomi print edition folded in the early 90's, but the newspaper was relaunched as a netzine last year.

The columnist in question, Jukka Relander, is a member of Green Party. Here it goes:
---
Ten million immigrants

Economists have calculated that the retirement of the post-war generation will produce a labor shortage, which the country has to prepare for.by increasing immigration. At the same time though, there exists a relatively high unemployment, and getting a job feels like a win in the lottery for many newly graduated.

Strange.

At the same time on the other side of the political spectrum people are worried that immigrants take jobs from native Finns, dump the price of labor and further increase unemployment at the same time supposing that immigrants primarily come here to live on benefits.

Also strange.

Both lines of thought make the same mistake in presuming that the amount of labor is constant. It is not. In the essential tasks there may exist a huge shortage of labor, while, at the same time in other sectors, seemingly productive but overall completely unnecessary work is carried out in other sectors.

In his book Vauraus (Wealth) Osmo Soininvaara states real estate brokers as an example.

Don’t take me wrong. Real estate brokers are a necessary group of workers in creating a sense of security at the time people are making the biggest decision in their lives. But there are a lot more of them than is necessary. The most striking example can be found in the United States, in which a single broker only concludes three to four deals a year. The rest of the year is spent in getting new clients i.e. fighting for saleable properties against other brokers. From the common sense point of view, it is all futile, despite the fact that it is necessary for the survival of an individual broker.

The independence between the size of workforce and the amount of jobs also works the other way around. Finland might as well provided jobs for ten million newcomers instead of the current population. The more people there are, the more opportunities, the bigger market and the more brains there are. Economic activity creates more economic activity. If in the United States immigration had been regarded the same way as in today’s Finland, the world’s most dynamic economy would not have been born and the population would roughly be the same as in Norway today.

Allowing/disallowing immigration is all about value choices. Do we want to have a multicultural or ethnically homogenous society, do we tolerate different races or do we require white?

These things can anyone decide by themselves.
--
Relander's insane column soon became a laughing stock. I am not laughing any more, since this insanity seems to be a global (i.e. Western) phenomenon.

Of course, it is all about showing, how good you are as a person as well as provocation per se. It has nothing to do with common sense. But it is interesting that a same kind of article appears in a Swedish right of centre newspaper a few months after it has been published on a Finnish website.

costin said... 12

Cons. Swede, I am really curious what your article from Stockholms Fria, Dags att förbereda för 90 miljoner flyktingar says.
This is very shocking but it is also liberating, in a way, because I stop wondering why are they sustaining this crazy immigration policy. Swedish politicians actually dream about becoming a minority. I remember about what a Swedish minister was saying about muslims: that swedes should be nice to them because muslims will also be nice when they will be a majority .. so he wasn't on drugs, he knew exactly what he was talking about!
this just make things a lot more clear.

Anonymous said... 13

Somebody should tell the Expressen folks that Philippe Legrain is NOT an economist. He is a journalist.

Conservative Swede said... 14

Buna Costin!

Stockholms Fria is the loony left (whatever that means in today's degenerated world everything seems to be loony left).

The whole idea of the article is that due to C02 induced climate catastrophe, countries such as Italy and Spain will be inhabitable like Sahara in 100 years. And therefore we will have 100 million people living in Sweden by then. And that therefore we must adapt in every way to that already today.

The idea is that we have no right to our own land and that we must share it with all the "climate refugees". So we might as well skip all sorts of immigration control and language requirement immediately. And build railway where there are now highways. How we must put Strindberg and meatballs aside and study Arabic in school instead of German, etc.

We can see here how multiculturalism and climate alarmism fits nicely hand in hand. And how climate alarmism is used as a lever to promote unfettered
multiculturalism.

Re: Joanne: "Is Japan, the country people knocked because they have not opened the flood gates to immigrants, having trouble with Islam and their Muslim followers? A big, fat, resounding, "NO." The Japanese are smart, and even smarter yet for not caring what other countries say about them."

You are as wrong as you can be.

There are AT LEAST a few hundred thousand Muslims in Japan, many of them illegals who will not be deported if they don't break the law.

They are mostly Bangladeshis, Iranians, and Pakistanis.

You can't walk near the hotels in Ibaraki and many other parts of Tokyo without being harassed by Iranian pimps, or Muslims selling illegal phone cards, subway passes or drugs.

Wikipedia [their figures are absurd, they are likely only counting legal residents]:

"There is no reliable estimate of the Muslim population in Japan as the government does not inquire about people's religion on census forms or other official documents. The majority of estimates of the Muslim population have been put at around 100,000, but this may be an exaggerated figure. The most reliable scholarship puts the number of Muslims in Japan at around 60,000-70,000, of which about 90% are foreign residents, and 10% are ethnic Japanese. At the present time, Indonesians, Bangladeshis, Pakistanis, and Iranians make up the largest communities of foreign Muslims in Japan."

http://www.japanprobe.com/?p=4661

Mahmood, Raisul Awal. "Adaptation to a New World: Experience of Bangladeshis in Japan." International Migration. 1994 32:4, 513-532.

Bastard half-Japanese children can now obtain Japanese citizenship with recognition after birth, whereas previously the fathers had to recognize the children before birth or marry the mother [http://www.debito.org/?p=1715]

"Japan has previously forbidden dual citizenship for anyone over the age of 20, although the enforcement of this is so haphazard as to be laughable."

From a net forum:

"the point about Pakistanis and Bangladeshi owning business is just laughable. When they start having 5 children each, begin building madrassas like mushrooms and multiplying themselves in a way Japanese will not. Then we’ll see about how wonderful their businesses are."

Good article:

http://yaleglobal.yale.edu/display.article?id=7067

Most migrants, legal & illegal, are Chinese, Korean & Latin Americans.

But most don't have children, so the problem will continue.

And the problem is a birth rate lower than Europe's. It's about 1.2 children for every woman.

Japan has the highest median age in the world, and of course the most seniors.

The climate change alarmist scenario is science fiction.

However, based on this fiction, to prevent theoretic problems a hundred years from now, the watermelons (green on the outside, red on the inside) are succeeding in promoting some stupid ideas that cause real problems right now.

Government subsidy of corn ethanol is criminally idiotic and had a predictable and immediate effect on raising world food prices with the poorest dependent on foreign food aid as in Africa feeling the effects first. Get the reasoning? To prevent future theoretic starvation, we must put policies in place that will create starvation in the here and now.

This is the same crowd who brought a million needless malaria deaths a year in Africa for decades (primarily children) by banning use of demonstrably safe DDT on the basis of junk science started by Rachel Carson. Her name should be up there with genocidists. Her misplaced concern for birds and what the theoretic implications might be for humans at some distant future killed millions of real people.

The WHO recently reinstated the use of DDT but westerners with more money than brains are still flogging expensive bed nets costing many dollars as a "safe" anti-malaria measure because of their lingering suspicion of any chemical and any cheap solution (DDT costs pennies). They are basically luddites. Well, if the child stays wrapped in his bed net all day...

What passes for leftist thought always ends up killing people in the millions while pretending concern for humanity. They never wear the tragic results of their criminal fecklessness. The Left is never never judged on the results of its hare-brained schemes, just its "good" intentions and skips off gaily to its next "grand idea" that will waste billions of dollars and millions of lives.

It's like letting a mad serial killer run about committing mayhem around the world and giving him a hearing over and over again instead of locking him up for good or better yet putting a stake through his black marxist heart.

Truly Swedes are like the Shmoos in the old Andy Capp L'il Abner comic strip, whose greatest pleasure was to jump into the pot to be eaten to bring pleasure to others.

Swedes are masochists who have found their sadists.

"About 3,200 inmates, 360 more than the capacity, are held at Fuchu Prison. Among them, about 550 are foreigners. The number is 1.3 times more than were incarcerated 10 years ago.

"Most of them do not understand Japanese. Research officer of the prison Kenji Sawada said, “It’s difficult to understand their languages and cultural differences such as those pertaining to food.”

"Religious beliefs are taken into account. Three meals are served at one time in the evening for Muslims during the fasting month of Ramadan when they do not eat during daylight hours.

"Masatsugu Yazawa, who specializes in the needs of foreign inmates said, “There are inmates who talk about religious holidays I’ve never heard of. It’s difficult to check whether the events really exist.”

"An inmate who had been held as a prisoner of war during Iran-Iraq War grew frenzied in his cell as he recalled his wartime experience. Yazawa said there are quite a few inmates who become unstable as they cannot understand Japanese and have other stresses besides their sentences."

I'm also thinking about the many different natures, sides and motives of mass immigration, and how to methodologically describe it. Japan does not have the whole package as we have. And different Western countries got different parts of it.

Yes, fro what I've seen, Swedes really seem to take the cake when it comes to self-hatred.

But even just a couple of decades ago, Swedes seemed quite proud, even arrogant.

I remember meeting lots of Swedes boasting about the size of the arms industry, their (your) ability to remain neutral between the US and USSR, and Sweden's economic self-sufficiency.

Not that I think that's a great thing (to be neutral re USSR, or the protectionism) but at least it's better than the slavishness today towards petty middle eastern tyrants.

Sometimes I listen to Radio Sweden for a laugh.

So we had to import multiculturalism from America, while America is importing welfare-statism from us. The Muslim touch of the deal we got from France. And now we are trying to become unbeatable in all categories.

The model countries are the ones that will fall first.

So, in other words:

Those whom the gods wish to destroy they first make models?

That sure would explain a lot about the haute couture industry.

But seriously, aren't you pressing the case for how: "No good deed goes unpunished"?

So, how is it that the model of modern democracy, America, has yet to fail? Or, in your dystopic conjuration, is it already doomed?

Speaking of dystopic conjurations; While traveling on business in Taiwan I met some followers of Falun Gong. Much as with most Taiwanese people I encountered, they were some of the nicest folks I've ever met in all of my extensive travels. So, on that note:

One serious question:

Is Falun Gong a threat to free, democratic societies and governments, or merely to repressive regimes like that of communist China?

I'm not at all surprised at how China's Mandarins wet their panties over Falun Gong's ability to summon forth huge crowds of peaceful protesters. Few other things could strike terror into the atrophied hearts of China's putative leadership.

I've heard less favorable portrayals of Falun Gong at other sites and wonder exactly what it is that drives your own low estimation for this group in the current discussion. Your reply, please.

Dymphna: Yeah, and unfortunately Bill Gates is one of them. It's disgusting.

Preface: Fluid dynamic equations, as in modeling how a drop of dye disperses in water, are among the most complex calculations known to mankind. Armed with a pad of paper and pencil, a person could not complete a single one of them in their entire lifetime.

Given the foregoing, it is my sincere conviction that William Gates will spend an eternity in everlasting Hell performing fluid dynamic calculations on an abacus.

I'm waiting also for Archonix comment to this

My wife still is proud and arrogant at times.

I remember reading about how Sweden had the largest standing army in Europe, and how some general or other, when faced with the prospect of a budget cut, asked the PM which part of Sweden they should stop defending.

I think... possibly, Sweden's collective mind went over the edge when the soviet union collapsed. They'd deluded themselves more than most that socialism was this grand, great thing that would inevitably triumph and then suddenly it died. It's like a kid seeing their father die from cancer. Seeing a father figure turn from something vital and powerful and apparently invincible into something weak, powerless. Watching something you assumed was invincible be vanquished has a profoundly destructive effect. Essentially Sweden, collectively, has experienced the thought of "death" for the first time and has become obsessed with it. Rather than accept that their invincible idol was fallible after all they've decided that this death must have been part of the plan, that somehow it makes the invincible idol stronger and more vital and that, in order to live, they have to die. And in order to die they have to first strip away anything worth living for.

In the world it is called Tolerance, but in hell it is called Despair, the sin that believes in nothing, cares for nothing, seeks to know nothing, interferes with nothing, enjoys nothing, hates nothing, finds purpose in nothing, lives for nothing, and remains alive because there is nothing for which it will die.
Dorothy L Sayers

(I took a while to respond because I'm actually on a short break... we had an argument about money, too - she's sometimes too proud to let other people pay for her. :D)

I've been trying hard to understand what's behind Sweden's self induced cultural demoralization and its de facto death wish.

The triumph of Utopian wishful thinking over reality defies logic and will go down as a historical tragedy.

Along these lines, there's a new book out by Natan Sharansky that folks here might be interested in taking a look at:

Defending Identity: Its Indispensable Role in Protecting Democracy

Why dont the Swedes along with all other multicults just get it over with and start self-flagellation parties?
They could serve wine and rub salt in each others wounds. It would be one big happy loathefest.

Wonderful quotation! Brilliant! Must be the credo of any person disgusted by the current state of affairs in the world. Yes, tolerance as it is understood today is the bleakest of all sins - despair.

Zenster,

Is Falun Gong a threat to free, democratic societies and governments, or merely to repressive regimes like that of communist China?

It's a threat to the sanity of any living person.

I've heard less favorable portrayals of Falun Gong at other sites and wonder exactly what it is that drives your own low estimation for this group in the current discussion.

I have studied them. They are a dangerous cult. E.g Scientology pales in comparison. None of the other people commenting upon them here have studied them. It's like when Westerners comment upon Islam without having read the Koran, and you know the result of that.

People are quick to judge based on images they get from the hard-coded narrative that is burned into their brains. Thusly the Bosniaks become champions of multiculturalism. In the Afghanistan war, Soviet was seen as the enemy, so the Talibans were seen as the friends. Reagan referred to them as "freedom fighters". Same here, the Chinese regime is seen as the enemy, so Falun Gong is seen as the friend, and get all the support from the West.

When will people ever learn? I'm so tired of all Westerners. You are the most gullible people on this planet.

Thank you for the reply, Con Swede. Clearly, more research is in order. Please email me some links at your convenience.

The Swedes already have. They're called saunas and birch branches are a mandatory accessory.

PS: Excellent quotation by Sayers, Archonix.

Thanks Zenster,

Thank you for the reply, Con Swede. Clearly, more research is in order. Please email me some links at your convenience.

Well, this will take more than a few links to convince people here. That much is clear. It will take some artful and methodical cutting through the Quixotic haze through which the Westerners see the world.

I will have to write some blog posts about it, exposing their double think, mind control, all the things typical of a cult. As well as their high political profile. Also how the many zealous followers are prepared to do literally anything for Master Li Hongzhi. Most of the work will be in cutting through the Quixotic haze of the Westerners, the rest is easy.

I think everyone here can remember what they thought about Islam ten years ago, and compare it to what they know today. It took more then a few links for that to happen. It takes more of a can opener to reach these minds.

And I'm genuinely surprised how little time people obviously have spent pondering upon why we got things so wrong about Islam. Of course, after an awakening it's natural to spend a lot of focus on Islam. But equally important is why we got things so wrong in the first place -- why we are getting things so systematically wrong?

It that is not dealt with and changed, we are still in deep trouble. It's time to scrap that Quixotic haze altogether. You might all feel less sanctimonious. But I can promise you all that it's a great feeling.

Armance said... 42

Yeah, it's time to be the incredulous, down-to-earth, common sense inclined Sancho Panza. Sancho is great!

Conservative Swede said... 43

To me, after the awakening about Islam, it became an even more important issue why I had gotten things so wrong -- why we Westerners always get things so systematically wrong -- than the issue of Islam itself (and I haven't exactly spent little time with Islam)

Now I can understand that most people are not inclined for this sort of introspection, penetrating the mind and thought patterns. But if you know Seinfeld I have a suggestion for you.

Remember the episode when George realized that every intuition he had had in his live has been wrong, and that he was better off doing the opposite? Try that!

So instead of assuming the best about Caribbeans, Falun Gong, Gypsies, Mexicans, Arab Christians, Sikhs or whatever other special interest group you are currently a bleeding heart for, try the opposite. Be suspicious, assume they are dishonest and have a hidden motive, assume they are not good people living up to your moral standards, etc.

It's not worse of a starting point than the other way around. In fact it's better. It's a strategy that keeps us protected even under ignorance. It doesn't make you a worse person starting from that end instead, it's just a different methodology. Of course, you will no longer be Don Quixote, but that's also the whole point.

THE END OF SWEDISH CULTURE

Conservative Swede said... 45

Ioshka,

"THE END OF SWEDISH CULTURE"

Yeah, too much spicy food and the Swedes are swept away (cultural suicide by chili). As we all know, multiculturalism is mainly about spicy food. But the careless Swede in that video clip doesn't understand that it's necessary to go easy, and to start at a young age. The cultivated Brits however have gotten that:

Toddlers who turn their noses up at spicy food from overseas could be branded racists by a Government-sponsored agency.

What is he cooking anyway? "Svedi huskiburd"? Did you know that in Germany they changed him to a Danish chef? "Smorrebrod, smorrebrod". Poor Germans.

That muppet couldn't possibly be a Swede. Too white looking :) Look, the open borders fantasy isn't going to hold for long in a world of shrinking energy resources. The Scandinavian countries were lightly populated for the past several thousand years for a very good reason -- they can't grow very much food, and they're very cold. Only oil, imported food and electricity changed the equation. The oldsters here will remember a famous margarine commercial from the 70s, which had a tag line that said "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature." At the end of the commercial the "Mother Nature" character got angry and made lightening bolts appear. The oil-based economy is fooling Mother Nature, and someday, she's gonna bite back. Icy Sweden can't heat or feed a population of 100 million people for very long -- it's not built for that. We are coming to the end of the oil based economy and the laws of Mother Nature will reassert themsevles.

laine said... 47

Queen is right. You had to be pretty hardy and hard working to survive Scandinavian winters in the old days and the oil-based economy has peaked and will shrink now. What are all the parasites going to do?

Guess the Scandinavians will have to open up their own houses to them when the Welfare money dries up and eventually hop into the pot to feed them one last time. After that, the invaders are on their own in a climate that's very unfriendly to the feckless.

Anonymous said... 48

laine: it isn't just a difference in hardiness and work ethic between ethnics-- literally, Scandinavia cannot physically feed and house that many people, without oil. It's an icebox with one short growing season per year. In contrast, in California, you can get three and sometimes even four crops per year out of the same piece of land, because the growing seasons last for such a relatively long time. You could say the same thing for Hawaii -- without oil you couldn't feed the 1.3 million people who now live on those islands, because most of the food is imported from elsewhere. If those 1.2 million people had to depend on Hawaii's natural environment for their sustenance, Hawaii very quickly becomes Easter Island. And we know what happened to THEM.

The EU Court of Justice [sic] has just today ruled that Ireland's laws on accepting the non-EU spouses of EU citizens is illegal:

EU court overturns Irish ban on non-EU spouses

Europe’s highest court has ruled that spouses of European Union citizens who are not themselves citizens of the EU may live in Ireland.

The case involved four couples who appealed a decision by the Government to deport them because the husband in each case is not an EU citizen and has never lived lawfully in another EU state.

The ruling delivered this morning by the European Court of Justice said Irish laws, requiring a spouse from a outside the EU to have lived in another member state, were incompatible with a directive on the free movement of EU citizens.

None of the spouses issued with “notice of intent to deport” orders are married to Irish citizens but are married to citizens of other EU states. In each case the couples were married in the Republic and the non-EU national husbands had all unsuccessfully applied for asylum....

They're all Africans, btw. Failed asylum seekers. :-/

The flood gates are now officially open.
