A Velvet Revolution in Belgium

The news report below from AFP is about the fracas in Brussels today, as described in my earlier post. In it you can see Filip Dewinter and other members of Vlaams Belang as they put up their Independent Flanders street signs, only to have them taken down. Meanwhile they are arrested and handcuffed for their trouble.

It was startling to hear Filip Dewinter speaking French. Those are the parts of this video that are translated into English in voice-over. Evidently AFP doesn’t have any Dutch translators on staff, so the Flemish parts remain tantalizingly untranslated.

In my estimation, this is excellent publicity for Vlaams Belang and the cause of an Independent Flanders:

Hat tip: Vlad Tepes.

You'll have to watch on Youtube ladies and gentlemen. Copyright claims means that embedding is disabled.

Also, I believe deWinter makes a brief statement at the end. Could we have a translation please?

LAW Wells -

His statement in Dutch, at the 1:45 mark:

"Dat zal anders zijn in een onafhankelijke Vlaamse staat"

In English:

"Things will be different in an independent Flemish state"

Sag,
at your service ;-)
