“We are the True Voice of England”

“Winston Churchill is every single thing Britain is about.”

Below is Part 1 of the speech given in Peterborough today by Tommy Robinson, the leader of the English Defence League.

The desecration of Winston Churchill’s statue by the “London Taliban” on Thursday caused a great revulsion amongst the rank and file of the EDL. Patriotic volunteers made their way to central London to clean up the statue and restore it to its proper condition.

According to Tommy Robinson, the police recognized and respected the EDL for their service to the community. That may be one reason why relations between the Peterborough police and the EDL demonstrators were so cordial today. An ordinary British copper — who, after all, is from the same general background as many members of the EDL — has surely noticed that the violent thugs he has to deal with on the streets are most certainly not members of the EDL.

We owe a big vote of thanks to Vlad Tepes for his efforts to make this video PG-13. Vlad bleeped out as many expletives as he could find, but be warned — there may be a few left here and there:

Just as well he beeped out what he could. I watched the unabridged version early this morning.!!!

I wonder what he'd do with this one

No news anywhere of how it went in the Hague.

They're just about getting up in the UK now, so I will see who I can catch on Skype or email

In hoc signo vinces

Carful not to mould Churchill into the impression of those obligatory statues of totalitarianism that litter history.

Tommy is motivated by a passion that many might not understand and in that passion he may not be as eloquent as Sir Winston Churchill, but that passion is just as great if not greater. So, if the speech is peppered by expletives, it is only because Tommy is speaking from the heart and not from the mind.

No Surrender!

Yes Tommy, thank the Police for not smashing you and your supporters heads in with truncheons. Thank them for letting your organisation excercise its rights to freedom of assembly and free speech. Thank them for filming everything and everybody who surrounds you and put it on file for later use. Tommy, did you know that today I heard that the EDL are an "Ultra Nationalist Group" on that august purveyor of unbiased information the BBC ? Well now you really have made the grade !

Where the Police are concerned remember this "One Swallow does not a Summer make".

Best of luck, you are going to need it.

Anyone concerned about the language employed by working class people throughout the United Kingdom ought to spend some time reading James Kelman's book: 'And the Judges Said ...'

He did good. He hit important points. Protecting ther nation, allies to the police, love of neighbor etc, this is good. He is winning by good nature, fairness, sympathy, underserved kindness, focusing on family and manly concerns and virutes that people can relate to and admire and respect. All important points to push in all sincerity.
He showed a down to earth streetiness and plain speech coupled with knowledge and goodwill.
Even if the police continue to do evil at times, eventually they can be won over and that is what is needed to build the movement. From what he said, no one should be ashamed or fearful of the EDL, if you simply take them at their word and do not as many brainwashed people do, project their own demons onto them.

With kind words and gestures as demonstrated to the police, they can win more hearts and minds and also the public. They should consider making CD's and handing them out or pamphlets and tracts and forming societites.
