An Islamic Awakening in Toronto Schools

As we reported the other day, the Toronto city government and school officials were shocked to discover that a city madrassa had used viciously anti-Semitic materials in its curriculum. They couldn’t understand why a respected Muslim institution would ever do such a thing.

The school in question has now had its license revoked. Many thanks to Vlad Tepes for uploading this discussion by Michael Coren and Clare Lopez about the issue:

Below are excerpts on the same topic from an article in the The National Post:

TORONTO — An Islamic school that had been using teaching materials that disparaged Jews and encouraged boys to keep fit for jihad has lost its license to use Toronto District School Board property.

The board suspended a permit issued to the Islamic Shia Study Centre, which operated the East End Madrassah out of a Toronto high school until an outcry last week over the content of its curriculum booklets.

“The Islamic Shia Study Centre will not be able to permit TDSB property until the police investigation is complete and they are able to demonstrate that they comply with board policies and procedures,” Ryan Bird, a TDSB spokesman, said Wednesday.

“Pending the outcome of the police investigation, we are willing to meet with the permit holder to discuss TDSB policies and procedures. As soon as we became aware of this complaint, we started to review the permit and the information that was available.”
The school said in a statement Thursday morning it was disappointed by the decision. “Our curriculum is not intended to promote hatred towards any individual or group of people; rather, the children are taught to respect and value other faiths and beliefs, and to uphold Canada’s basic values of decency and tolerance.”

But the school’s curriculum, which it has now taken off its website, referred to “crafty,” “treacherous” Jews and contrasted Islam with “the Jews and the Nazis.” The passages were from two books published by Iranian foundations.

The booklets also told children that Islam was the “best” religion, and provided a list of “unclean things,” including pigs, dogs and “a person who does not believe in Allah.” It said boys should be “healthy and strong” so they would be “ready for jihad whenever the time comes for it.”

Girls, meanwhile, were told to limit their involvement in physical activities and to instead engage in hobbies that would prepare them to become mothers and wives.

[…]

Neither the school principal nor the cleric affiliated with the centre could be reached for comment. Last week, Imam Syed Muhammad Rizvi told reporters the passages in question had been wrongly copied from two websites.

But they are actually excerpts from two books published by the Al Balagh Foundation in Tehran and the Mostazafan Foundation of New York, which the FBI alleges was a front organization controlled by the Iranian regime — whose president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is widely known for his antisemitism, Holocaust denial and threats to wipe out Israel.

“As we have said before, the excerpted material at issue should never have been a part of our curriculum,” said the statement, signed “Principal, East End Madrassah.” In a video posted online, Imam Rizvi dismissed as “absolutely baseless” concerns that school teaching materials were written in Iran.

There is so much B.S. all over that statement, I can smell it all the way from Santa Monica!

So, the Canadian state has deemed that anti-Semitism is bad, but rabid violent hatred, torture, and murder of everyone else - and democracy in general - is ok?

Even if Muslim schools removed ALL references to that are specific to Jews, the Muslim school would still teach Sharia Law which is all about Muslim men violently subduing, owning, and controlling Muslim girls and women - and all non-Muslim infidels (Jews, too) - as eternal slaves to the slaves of Allah!

God bless Michael Coren! And boy, that Clare sure has a head on her shoulders. I get sickened when all the PC lap-dogs in the media and accademia always say "the Prophet Mohammed"; she clearly says "the Muslim Prophet Mohammed" meaning "He's Their prophet...not mine". Good on her.

The Toronto Board will reverse itself.

It permits Muslims to close a public school cafeteria on Fridays to use as a mosque.

They falsely claim this is required by Ontario law.

Unfortunately, there has not been "An Islamic awakening in Toronto schools". This particular madrassa just got caught with its antisemitism in writing available on the Internet (excerpts from teaching materials prepared in Iran) for Jewish organizations to find and raise enough of a fuss that authorities were forced to act. Undoubtedly after a bit of lip service to Canadian values, the madrassa owners will have their license to use a public school quietly restored by dhimmi leftist educrats. Muslim teachers in this madrassa and others will simply be more careful to keep the compulsory antisemitism lessons better hidden from the public. Indeed, at least one of Toronto's middle schools (google Middle Valley School Toronto) is transformed into a mosque every Friday afternoon, with the cafeteria turned over to Muslim prayer, led by an imam no less, and enforced gender stratification with first class (boys) in front, second class (girls) in back and hindmost, menstruating girls. Devout Muslim parent volunteers drape the floors in prayer mats and make sure all the girls' heads are covered with hijabs if any are foolish enough to show up bareheaded (the pressure is always toward hijab, not unveiling with Muslims). The justification from the principal and school board was that the school is majority Muslim, the students were going to the local mosque for Friday prayers (a ten minute walk) and not bothering to return to school in many cases. Interestingly, it was a handful of Hindu parents who raised an objection to this introduction of a particular religion into their children's school and enough publicity was generated that the public at large became incensed, since Christianity has been systematically squeezed out of Canadian schools under the pretext of making all students (Muslim minority) feel welcome. All of a sudden when it comes to a Muslim majority, there's no thought given to Hindu or Christian minorities feeling welcome, is there? This double standard enforced by white liberals is plonkingly stupid, but the dhimmi educrats get very testy when their hypocrisy is pointed out. The only compromise has been that the imam no longer holds court in the school. In his stead, devout Muslim kids from the high school across the street lead the prayers. This still leaves the fact that in what's supposed to be a secular school system that insists on equal rights for all, stratification by gender, making girls second class citizens is allowed for brown people. Why not the Hindu caste system as well then?

No madrassahs should be allowed in Canada.
