Gates of Vienna News Feed 10/12/2011Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the young Nigerian who is commonly known as the Underwear Bomber, pleaded guilty today in a Detroit courtroom to a terrorism charge. Mr. Abdulmutallab, as you may recall, attempted to explode his underpants on a jetliner just before it landed on Christmas 2009, but only succeeded in severely scorching his nether regions instead.

In other news, Polish authorities have rounded up nineteen people across the country who are alleged to have assisted Anders Behring Breivik in acquiring explosives for his massacre in Oslo last July. Ten of those arrested are said to be employees of the same chemical company.

Speaking of Poland, Lech Walesa, the former president of Poland, says he will travel to New York to express his solidarity with the “Occupy Wall Street” protesters.
