So why are they not willing to make the same judgement about Islam??

Because they are intrigued and fascinated by the use of force, shaming, fear and intimidation in Islam and wish to see Muslims on their side.
Many liberals claim to dislike these things, but when Hillary Rodham Clinton decides that she is going to create an American society in which the people who critique Islam will be subject to shaming and intimidation, and she promises this to the OIC, then the entire liberal program comes under suspicion of being anti-humanistic and anti-democratic.
A democracy that does not protect the integrity of the individual to critique the features of his world is no democracy at all.
And liberalism, obviously, once the guardian of these freedoms, has become the slave of power in the same way neoconservatives did in the mid-90s.
The spell of power has been cast.
You have decided not to fall under it.
Keep your humanistic values intact.
Study the core texts of Western civilization-- because if you don't know what you are defending, you'll be weak.
Understand that the case against Islam and Islamism can be made on theological/religious grounds, on secular grounds, on historic grounds and on philosophical grounds.
Above all, think for yourself when you think about Islam. Do not be guided just by the adherents' hands.
