Gates of Vienna News Feed 2/14/2011The flood of refugees crossing the Mediterranean to Italy continues. The Tunisian military is patrolling the coast to prevent the boat people from crossing, but has refused Italy’s request to allow the Italian police to help hold back the exodus. Meanwhile, the EU has agreed to meet to discuss the crisis in Italy.

In other news, a 19-year-old female Syrian blogger has been jailed for five years on charges of spying for the U.S. Embassy in Egypt.

That message is an internal blogger error; I've seen it occasionally. I assume it meant they were having server problems at the time.
