Update on that Offensive American Flag

Takuan Seiyo sends the following information:

Here are the contacts for the hospital, should you care to let them know what you think about their kowtowing to people who are “offended” by the American flag.

What a disgraceful bunch of cowards.

If America is merely a 'proposition nation' why get upset about New Americans not liking the old symbols? In the 19th century many New Americans didn't like the Anglo-Saxon nature of American society so that was changed. Then in the 20th century the descendants of those New Americans along with Newer Americans didn't like the European nature of America so that was taken care of. New Americans and their descendants didn't like that America still tolerated Christian symbols so they are being discarded to the dustbin of history. Now it is time to remove the symbols of the old Anglo-Saxon America. What's the problem? Since Americans claim they are not a nation, just an idea, why worry about the old symbols of long gone Anglo-Saxon nation?

Saxo Bank, a Danish investmen bank, last autumn displayed a variant "Stars and Stripes" featuring Hammer & Sickle.

Why?

Not as a provocation, merely as an explanation of the current state of affairs, as the bulk of finance had been nationalized.

Enter Obama. This will accelerate things.

Baron's description of this as the 'Europeanization' of America in the older thread is odd.

It was only under the American Empire that Europe has been de-nationalised. The American occupation forces that bankrolled the Frankfurt School educators on post-war Germany. Stamping out European nationalism and replacing it with American-style liberalism has been all too successful.

There is a similar situation developing in Australia, some immigrants are offended by displays of our national flag or the southern cross(another patriotic symbol).According to these people national flags are codes for racist attitudes, rather than a symbol of the nation itself. Although Australians don't have much of a history of flag waving,I might buy a very large one and stick it on my car and encourage others to do the same.

Am not clear why folks are sending this hospital nasty-grams, or why this post is here at all. An earlier post said (i thought) that the issue was resolved, with people apologizing.

If so, why are you interfering with the workings of a hospital?

Fluff --

As I understand it the hospital never acknowledged that they had removed the flag because it offended someone; they dissembled by saying it was the size that was the problem.

As far as I can tell the issue is still alive.

Apparently, the complainant “has been in the United States for 14 years and is formerly from Africa. McLucas said that supervisor took down the flag herself.” The flag was later found on the floor.
The hospital acquiesced the person who complained until the media began asking questions. At that point, the hospital changed their story. I take great umbrage with a hospital corporation that perceives pc behavior but has no problem taking taxpayer funds from Medicare and Medicaid.

Swedbank a swedish bank does not allow the swedish flag as motive on their cards. Most other countries flags seems to be fine with them but not just our own.
