La Paix Pour Notre Temps

Update: Thanks to Pistache for the suggested title change.

Nicolas Sarkozy, like George W. Bush, has looked into the heart of Islam, and likes what he sees.

Like Mr. Bush he was not raised as Muslim, yet claims to know what “true Islam” is all about. All the slaughtering, beheading, raping, stoning, cutting off of hands and feet, dressing women in tents — all that’s the fake Islam.

The real Islam is something else, and it’s just fine and dandy.

Islam means “peace”. Peace in our time.

How do we know? Well… We just know!

The latest sickening news from Sarko is the inauguration of a new wing at the Louvre dedicated to Islamic art and financed in part by — you guessed it — Saudi Arabia. Here’s the story today from free.fr (my translation):

Nicolas Sarkozy lays the first stone of the new rooms for the Arts of Islam at the Louvre

PARIS (AP) — “France is a friend of Arab countries,” assured Nicolas Sarkozy on Wednesday while laying the foundation stone of new rooms for the Arts of Islam at the Louvre.

The head of state was speaking to Prince Alwalid Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, King Abdullah’s nephew and an important donor to the project.

“Islam is the bearer of one of the oldest and most prestigious civilizations in the world” and this exhibition is “an opportunity for the French and all visitors to the Louvre to see that Islam is progress, science, refinement, modernity,” declared Nicolas Sarkozy.
- - - - - - - - -
“Fanaticism in the name of Islam is a distortion of Islam,” he said. “Killing in the name of Islam disgraces Islam” and “not to respect women’s rights in the name of Islam disgraces Islam.”

“France wants peace, France does not want the clash of civilizations between East and West,” said the French president. “France says to the Arab countries that it will help them acquire the energy of the future, nuclear energy used for peaceful civilian purposes.”

Nicolas Sarkozy hailed “the action of the King of Saudi Arabia for a dialogue among religions. France admires it and supports it,” he said. “His meeting with his holiness the pope is one of the past year’s strong points in the service of peace,” opined the French president.

In a total area of 6,500 square meters on three levels, new rooms for the Arts of Islam at the Louvre will open in December 2010. Work will begin in September 2008. The project is budgeted to cost a total of 86 million euros, of which 20 million euros is financed by France and 17 million by the Saudi Prince Alwalid Ben Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Huh.

One wonders if the myriad collection of offensive religious art will be allowed to remain in the Louvre, what with how any depiction of the Deity is so anathemic to Islam and all...

Wouldn't want to offend rich Saudi sh+theels when they drop by after a brioche and a cafe au lait...or the Algerian peon waiter who serves them their petit-mange.

Isn't art haram? I must admit it's a little tiring keep track of all the rules and exceptions to the rules.

I find it disgusting and traitorous during a time of de facto war to bootlick Islamist culture, regardless of its merits (which are apallingly few, that is the point).
Do boxers hug and shake hands in the middle of a fight or at the end, when one is defeated? Only effete losers would toast their own executioner.

this is what is interesting about france. if there is one country that could just keep sailing on towards islamization without hitting a discontinuity, i think it will be france. they just seem to be bonkers. i would love to read some scenarios for where they will be in 2022. the mind can barely take it in. what do they think they are doing?ntud

that stupid code didn't go in the right place.

I remember Sarkozy being universally toasted as the moderate right-wing solution to the French Muslim/immigrant/youth-riots problem. Looks like that was a serious case of wishful thinking. Question is, do the French have anywhere left to go politically now that he has shown himself to be just another traitor. Just imagine, Geet Wilders' party is elected one day soon in Holland, only for him to turn around and say "well actually, you know, maybe we can learn to live together, meet them halfway. It's a religion of peace. And they have such lovely spicy food! Yum!"

What a choker.

Sarkozy better be keeping those guillotines in working order, so the common french folk can take care of business....again.

Does France vote for Turkey to be a member of the EU? It seems to me Sarkozy speaks with forked tongue. Unfortunately, France is a country that just continues to wag its tail, obeying its masters on both sides.

Actually, Canada could spare a few million French to go over to France and teach their forefathers how to treat - everyone, but the French - like inferior crapzoids. The Muslims wouldn't be able to get out of France quick enough. Actually, Canada can spare every last French Canadian - they aren't doing anything worthwhile anyhow.

What Bush and Sarkozy get, and Baron and Dymphna seem unwilling to grasp, is that when islam speaks of beheading infidels, beating women, stoning adulterers and homosexuals, they are just joking around!

Don't you get the funny joke?

Philippe de Villiers and his Movement For France is an alternative to Sarkozy. Unfortunately he only polled 3 percent of the vote in the last presidential elections.

Sarkozy has turned out to be a major disappointment, running on what passes for the right in France but once elected, letting the country run on autopilot while he mooned about like a teenage girl with her first crush. After a crash courtship and marriage to the clone of the wife who left him many times, he now appears to be embracing Carla Bruni's flakiness and left wing politics.

The dead giveaway that someone is ignorant of Islam and hasn't done the simplest homework is that phrase "religion of peace" using peace in the Western way instead of the Islamic way where it means "submission".

There will be peace only when ALL submit their will to Allah. Until then, Muslims are duty bound to make a war zone "dar al Harb" anywhere where non Muslims hold sway.

That all Western leaders to a man and woman are so intellectually lazy and have no one advising them on Islam except lying Muslims and leftists is truly shocking. What easy pickings we must look like to Muslims, like fat cows ambling placidly into the slaughter pen. No wonder they are letting their sense of entitlement and confidence show. There is no significant opposition to them, either from leaders committing treason against their own people or the phlegmatic citizens who shrink from voting those leaders out even in a secret ballot.

By the way, if curators are intellectually honest, the space in the fancy new building devoted to Islamic contributions to science and culture for the most recent centuries will have to be empty, won't it? Maybe a pile of sand and a replica of an oil derrick. Even the latter is Western designed and built.

Sarkozy is either a liar or a fool.

If a liar, he is worse than a fool.

If a fool, more dangerous than a liar.

Fear not me scurvy dog, the new wing's centerpiece will be a bonfire of Old Masters oils topped by the Mona Lisa. I hope that addresses some of your concerns.

What if Sarkozy is a liar and a fool?

Zenster,

What if Sarkozy is a liar and a fool?

Then he's worse than dangerous, and more dangerously worse. As well as a lying fool.

This Islamaphila must be related to that hairbrained scheme of the French to form a "Mediterranean Union". All the nations touching that sea, Moslem and European, will be one big happy family, and France, evidemment, will be pere. That part of the Louvre will be the kids' room. But there is a kind of international bigamy here, since France's other "family" is the EU.

Or so it looks from my little corner of the USA.

I'd be greatly mollified if the Heretic Apostate of Canterbury was occupying a stake in the middle of that bonfire.(What can I say? I'm "Old School").

Oh, and I'm not a dog. Dogs are haram.
Scurvy otoh...well, let's just say that the tooth loss is only a problem when the steward serves barbecued ribs.
(We can gum that meal for DAYS!)

I have been reading a management book called "Dinosaur Brains", it is about how we sometimes allow primative reflexive thinking to control us. There is one stimulus-response series that puts some light on this Dhimmitude crap:
"Displeased father figure, appease immediately" Fear response

With the feminization of society, with all the single moms and the wussification of the western male, when some people see strength, they see it as a sort of automatic father figure. There was a great cartoon about the boy seeing a prancing, Birkenstock clad hippy flinging flowers, and the big brutal muslim testing his sword. The boy looked to the latter approvingly. In reality, the hippy also looks to the muslim jihadi as someone to be appeased, someone to play the b*tch to for favor.

Speaking as a retro kind of guy, I like the way you think. Best to make sure this tosser feels a bit of heat just in case there isn't enough where he's going.

Overall, I think we need to find a way that avoids the use of all those prescious canvases. I'd like to dovetail a "Reality Show" and "Celebrity Roast", with the emphasis on "Reality Roast".

Wow! Gorgeous!

Actually the visitors don't need to go to Louvre and pay a ticket for admiring the wonders of the Islamic art and civilization. Just a few streets away, going to the Paris banlieus, the art lovers will have the unique opportunity to admire these artistic accomplishments for free and in the process of making, like in the contemporary art's installations: cars, schools and churches burning, native French beaten to death, gang rapes and other numberless artistic treasures belonging to the new current of French Islamic naturalism. It's so intense, impressive and filled with life! Enjoy!
