Me and You and a Dog Named Allah

This is yet another example of the insane topsy-turvy world of Political Correctness. In PC Land a person from protected minority has an absolute right not to be offended, and that right trumps any rights that people from the oppressive majority might have.

According to Al Arabiya:

A prison officer in the United Kingdom was transferred after he caused a stir amongst inmates by calling his sniffer dog ‘Allah’, press reports said Monday.

Although officer Chris Langridge, 28, insisted the Labrador’s name was in fact ‘Ali’ not ‘Allah’, a Muslim inmate filed an official complaint with Britain’s top Belmarsh high-security jail, The Sun newspaper reported.

“This is political correctness gone mad,” a Belmarsh officer was quoted by The Sun as saying.

According to a prison source there is no suggestion that he did call the dog Allah but it was thought it would be better to transfer him, the paper said.

Belmarsh contains the highest number of Muslim inmates of any UK prison, including some notorious extremists such as hook-handed Abu Hamza.

What’s notable is that Mr. Langridge didn’t actually call his dog “Allah”. The perception that he called his dog by the name of the Mesopotamian moon-god was enough to bring official sanctions down upon his hapless head.

God help Britain.

The idiots have absolutely no idea at all of the psychology of Westerners. None. Zero. Zilch.

I predict that within a year there will be tens of thousands of dogs in the UK that answer to the name of Mohammed or Allah.

And there will be nothing at all they can do about it ... and this being the original land of the dog lover they'd better not start killing the dogs.

No, personally I do not like dogs.

Calling ones dog Ali is bad enough for some muslims... I remember that years ago, to appease the house of Saudi, the king of Sweden renamed his dog Ali "Charlie" !!
Yes, it´s a true story !

(Had I not made my mind up to call my next dog "Bacon", I do belive I´d go for "Mohammed" ;))

I hate dogs, but I'm thinking I might buy a little puppy and call it Allah now. Something yappy and annoying...

I correct myself... it was a kings aid that waved a complaint about a dog named Ali with something like "Ali is a common dogname in sweden".

That stirred up the feelings in Pakistan and after "gatherings" outside the swedish embassy in Karachi the kings dog was renamed. Kind of like a "cartoon-crisis" from the mid seventies ;)

Yup, that's it. Muhammad should never have entered that "Satanic verses" deal where he gave up Ar-Rahman. Allah really is a whole lot worse.

This calls to mind what Lars Vilks did with his own pooch last fall.

Actually, the guard probably called his dog Ollie, not Ali, but that's close enough to offend Muslim sensibilities.

Wait until they find out that the biggest idiot of all time and memorialized on the cover of MAD Magazine was named Ali Neuman; boy, will that rag now get bombed!

I don't find it difficult at all, to understand the current record emigration of UK's indigenous peoples to other countries. Appease your new Masters, O' you people of the United Kaliphate. And build more mosques, you're going to need them.

What's more notable is that clearly the man is forbidden to call his dog 'Allah'. One might surmise that he could get away with calling it 'Jesus'...

Allah means God, and I don't know a single person who has ever referred to their dog as God....a lot of other things, but never God. Sometimes I wish they would all just crawl back under the rock they came out from under.

Muslims are just pushing the envelope, and the British are just caving in to appease the Beast. I'd much prefer poking the Beast until it has a big hissy fit, so it can receive a much deserving smack.

Joanne, a slight correction:

'Ilah' means god. Mecca had several of them (hundreds, actually), with Allah being the top dog among them. Possibly the name is a contraction of 'Al-Ilah', 'The god'. Allah was worshipped in 5, possibly 9, generations before Muhammad, and really belongs to the gallery of pagan Arab gods.

He's not an invention of Muhammad in any way, and neither is Hajj/Umra and the associate rituals. Muhammad just copied the whole pile of senseless rituals into his collection of 'religious obligations' and called the religion 'new'.

According to Islamic scripture, that is. Other sources might have more incriminating variants.

But then, one doesn't have to look far. For in the first 8 years of his career, Muhammad was actively mocking Allah and the other gods of the Kaaba for being false gods, promoting Ar-Rahman instead.

According to Islamic scripture, again. Islam is self-incriminating...

Named after Muhammad Ali, no doubt, because the dog was a boxer?

Prisoners should be hosed down if they cause trouble and put on half rations.

They get no veto of anything.

Not the damned naming of dogs are what the menu serves.

If they don't like either they can shut up and diet.

There's a popular bumper sticker that says, Dog is my co-pilot.

Countless millions have, but the "God" is usually followed by another word starting with "D".
