The Website for “Fitna” Has Been Taken Down

The main website for Geert Wilders’ (as yet unreleased) movie Fitna has been taken down by Network Solutions, its hosting service. If you visit http://www.fitnathemovie.com now, this is what you will see:

This site has been suspended while Network Solutions is investigating whether the site’s content is in violation of the Network Solutions Acceptable Use Policy. Network Solutions has received a number of complaints regarding this site that are under investigation. For more information about Network Solutions Acceptable Use Policy visit the following URL: http://www.networksolutions.com/legal/aup.jsp

Hosted by Network Solutions.

FitnaHowever, one of the satellite Fitna sites, the UK version, still has the same image up as a placeholder, and continues to list tomorrow (March 23rd, Easter Sunday) as the movie’s release date. Evidently this site is not hosted by the same service.

I don’t have links to any other satellite sites. If readers know of any, please leave the URLs in the comments.

Time to brush off that YouTube account, Google Video and all the other services.

And to post it to PirateBay. They have quite some experience in staying afloat under difficult circumstances. I'm quite sure the movie would do fine there.

And then, link to it from all our blogs. It can be an avalance.

Talk about a catch-all for anything and everything. Oops, that was a desultory denigration of Network Solutions. They're going to ban m

Their server, their rules. This is what all the internet is based on, or at least that is what the people in the anti-spam movement say when they block "sales emails".

And for what it's worth, I agree with them. I think they are wrong, and that I will never use their services, but it is their server, so their rules apply. Now if they start putzing with the DNS entry once he moves it to another service (I recommend servage.net) that's another story.

Of course, any one that uses Network Solutions as a hosting company is asking for issues, large and small.

Let's just leak the thing!

Against Islam, there's no hope in any establishment whatsoever. The only good solution will be to distribute the film as widely as possible, on the free net, on the ground.

I'm ready to give it a dedicated server in Switzerland. For that purpose only. And I sure won't be the only one.

I wrote them this comment:

How dare you people shut down the Fitna website.

Don't you peolpe understand the importance of Free Speech and the need to stand up to Islamic threats,.

You are cowards. You have a responsiblity to defend our culture and instead you scuumb to the threats of people who would destroy the ecoomic system on which you depend.

I am referring this to my US Congressional Rep to see what sorts of protections Congress may have to enact to prevent companies like yours from censoring speech that desperately needs to be protected.

Mike (we're on two blogs :)) :

How could you agree with them? He hasn't even published the film yet. So just what is the violation?

By the way.. this issue is more than a property rights, free association issue.

The social contract never took into account a systematic relentless movement by Muslims to silence critics anywhere they are found.

Our society is under assult on all fronts. The challenges we face will require all our principles to be reexamined so that we can protect our way of life effectively.

Blind adherence to the way things were is exactly teh sort of response our enemies are expecting from us. I dont want to be their chumps.

This is one of the most revolting things I have read in a long time. I am definitely going to write to this stupid network solutions place. What stupid, horrible people.

1) There is no such thing as a "social contract" -- that's touchy-feely socialist *bullshit*.

2) I certainly hope the film is net-released in a high-quality format. (YouTube just plain sucks.)

VinceP1974 said...

You're calling me a socialist! hahh

whatever idiot.

There sure is a social contract.. it underlies just about everything we do. It goes unnoticed because except for the Islamic world, teh social contract is basically accepted by everyone.

The Social contract is based on a certain level of trust we give to one another.

I can distill it down to one concept: The Golden Rule.

A society based on the Golden Rule and slavishly adherant to it will not be able to handle communities within it that have no intention of following the Golden Rule.

What the Islamists are doing is using our values against us. And they do this only becausae we give them permission to.

We hand them the knife that they will use to slit our throats.

This cannot be allowed and if that means applying radically differnt set of rules when it comes to dealing with them , that's what is what we're going to have to do.

Supporting Network Solution's decision to precensor Fitna is to support the destruction of your life.

That's bullshit.

You may or may not be aware but I am Christian and many of my early posts are pro-Israel, particularly on the rockets issue.

However, recently I've been seeing a Muslim girl and this has really confused the issue. I still feel what I felt but I have heard the other side too.

This is a dilemma.

I would just like to clarify that the UK site is not Geert Wilders' and the March 23rd release date is not true. If you do a WHOIS search for fitnathemovie.com, it is registered under Geert Wilders and the UK site, fitnathemovie.co.uk is registered under a Los Bos.

And for what it's worth, I agree with them.

The "them" in this context is the AntiSpam people, not NetSol

Should have watched my pronouns there.

Let me repeat, I do not agree with NetSol taking down the web site. I do think that the "it's their server, their rules" applies. I do think that property rights are the basis of all western freedoms. I do think that freedom of speech includes the right to NOT have to say something if you don't want to.

And I repeat, I do not, and will not use NetSol for any thing I have a choice on. (they are the TLD master DNS in the US, can't avoid that, until they loose that...)

VinceP1974 said...

You seem to be missing the point.

Network solution had already made the decision to do business with Wilders.

If they didn't want to work with Wilders then why did they host the website at all?

What NS did was scuumb to pressure from the Islamists.

The Islamists are using our values aginst us.

They would never have stopped an anti-Bush or anti-Christian movie, no matter the content.

I would like ppl to boycott networksolutions.com !

If critisism of islamism isn't allowed to be broadcast, then we have already subdued to radical islam/islamism, and islam will not be able to enter the moderation it needs to coexist in a free western society. Instead Islam will continue its war against freedom/democracy and oppression/totalitarianism. Censoring Wilders (which has now been done broadly) will only strengthen this fateful path.

...besides this really is the end of free speech.

Boycott networksolutions.com

Their server, their rules. This is what all the internet is based on, or at least that is what the people in the anti-spam movement say when they block "sales emails".

No, and I mean it.

There are two separate issues up here. One is the question of the Common Carrier obligation, where the Internet Service Provider has an obligation to carry any and all traffic, but on the other hand is absolved from any responsibility for what is being transmitted.

As an example, you don't sue the telephone company for terrorists using their wires to plot a crime. The Telco is not the relevant party, and is protected by legislation in the field.

The ISP has a role similar to that of the Telco, in a new technology. We need legislation that protects our civil liberties, and it would be meaningful to give the ISP's this status as an provider without direct responsibility for the contents.

Now, technical possibilities for regulating content exists, and to a greater extent than on telephones. These are being used, at the moment to regulate child porn. I don't like the idea of regulation at all, but the responsibility for deciding what is to be regulated would be meanfully placed at a relevant independent body - the court.

That is, a court ruling would be needed to take down a site or block access to specific servers.

This would guarantee free speech.

The issue of spam is irrelevant here. Irrelevant??, you may say. Irrelevant, because it's a problem best addressed by marketing laws, not by preventing transmission of it. Doing so has potential for abuse.

Hm, this debate is moving from issues of Islam to issues of legal problems... If I was to choose a university study now, it'd be law, not computer science. That's for sure.

BTW, the UK site is a spoof, ridiculing Winters. We need that movie out ASAP. PirateBay is an option for massive, worldwide distribution.

Homophobic Horse said...

Wow, all this for a film that apparently only quotes the Koran and juxtaposes these quotations with some horrible pictures from around the world today.

In a way the establishment has already suppressed the contents of the Koran. :)

I'm sure PirateBay will run a torrent for the video. With glee. They run facking anything.

You can watch the video here:

download it and spread it around the world.

If anyone sees the video, make sure and tape it so we can repost it on all video forums. It doesn't even matter if it's good or bad now. They're trying to take away our freedom.

Unacceptable.

Henrik R Clausen said...

chanan dov, that's a string of movies about the movie, not the movie proper.

Yes, PirateBay makes a point about having torrents for _anything_. They even have a political party to support that view. Didn't make it into parliament at last Swedish elections, though (they have a 4 % limit).

PirateBay works well. It doesn't host the movie itself, and due to the use of BitTorrent, it scales like crazy. A lot of people will be able to download the movie in relatively little time. And that's 'download', not just 'watch' as on YouTube.

We need it out fast, before this turns into just an embarrasment.

THERE IS NO MOVIE!!!

IT WAS A BIG JOKE TO ILLUSTRATE THE ABSURDITY OF THE muslim FAITH AND REACTIONARY NATURE OF THEIR FALSE RELIGION BY SIMPLY TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING THAT MAY BE INSULTING TO THEIR "FAITH."

http://www.fitnathemovie.co.uk/

This was the actual website that was to air the actual movie once it came out. All of the other sites were disinformation campaigns promulgated by competing interests.

I think it's hilarious that millions of muslims and non-muslims got so worked up about something speculative.

Great job, Wilders!!
